Yeah I just watched it and it doesn’t help your case in the slightest. The prank guy is walking and playing the noises at the shooter for like 10 seconds total, and the guy pulls out a gun and shoots him. You think that’s a valid use of a firearm? That’s genuinely disgusting.

Do you think that guy’s life was in imminent danger, or do you think it was so fast of a situation that he didn’t have time to think and it was just an instinctive reaction to a potential threat?

I can’t see any reality where that is reasonable use of force. If it was okay to shoot anyone who is pissing you off there would be massacres every single day. What an idiotic Reddit echo chamber take.

He was repeatedly harassing a guy who was trying to do his job and was concerned about his safety when this person wouldn’t stop, he had the right to make him stop.

Honestly, people want to worship the 2A but this is a classic FAFO situation.

Don’t fuck with random people. Back in the day, real prank shows got willing participants, model releases, etc.

They didn’t just fuck with randoms and it was all about making sure things are done LEGALLY and above board.

That harasser did none of that and he’s lucky he got wounded and not outright killed for harassing someone.

The guy was a stalker and got put in his place, imho. Of course, he learned nothing so both of our opinions are moot.

I didn't provide that version of events, and again, I'm not attacking a verdict, I'm attacking the idea that someone annoying you with sounds on their phone is grounds to shoot them. I'm not the one building a strawman here.

There are countless videos out there of people beating the shit out of "pedophiles", so it is not unreasonable to believe this much bigger guy was going to do the same to you. It wasn't a threat that involved immediately firing the gun. He could have just brandished it, THEN discharged if the guy didn't back down. That being said, the guy was pretty aggressively and continuously harassing him, clearly larger than him, pushing his body against his and so on. He had every reason to believe the situation could escalate into violence.

I'm also convinced peoples instincts are messed up nowadays, after decades of living in a world where you just watch things from behind a screen instead of experiencing it first hand I believe has stunted that instinct to help someone when something like this happens. I fully support a law that like expands the severity of charges and the expense of fines for people committing crimes as part of a performance.

For example while I am not a lawyer, the California penal code for stalking has an interesting definition...

"(a) Any person who willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly follows or willfully and maliciously harasses another person and who makes a credible threat with the intent to place that person in reasonable fear for their safety, or the safety of their immediate family, is guilty of the crime of stalking, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not more than one year, or by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment, or by imprisonment in the state prison."

This video is at least 10 years old, much older than TikTok. It was just a crazy asshole on the sidewalk that was fucking with people walking by, until he met the wrong one.
