Cooks father is a piece of shit for defending his son. He was harassing that guy and trying to get a reaction to post and make money from.
So sick of these rage baiting losers making money off innocent people.

Yeah, I saw his dad say how his son wouldn't (shouldn't?) stop doing what he loves or something stupid.

While his son was in the hospital after being shot for... doing something that was fucking stupid.

I said it on the fucking McDonalds "prankster" video, I'll say it again- If you do pranks that involve illegal activity like assault (even phony ones like this) or trespassing, your punishment should be a complete shutdown of online activity, with prison sentences for those who break the conviction agreement. It's not hard to track the breach of conviction there.

I'm not sure how the US works, but in canada this is assault. If he had actually hit the guy it would've been battery.

Edit: I've actually got it mixed up, in the US this is assault too, but it's the US that has a seperate battery charge. This would also be assault in Canada.

There really needs to be restrictions on filming in public. It's not 1996 anymore where maybe someone occasionally has a camcorder, everyone has a video recording device in their pocket, and it's having negative societal effects.

Also, the mass surveillance network's gotta go too. Widespread camera systems with license plate readers, facial recognition, gait detection, and cellphone tracking hardware? Fuck all that.

Yeah, ha ha, remember when hacking was a federal crime in the US and convicted hackers weren't allowed to own or use computers for like 10 years or something? People wouldn't be able to function in society now. They couldn't even apply for a job, but in a way I think we do need to go back to that. You're exactly right, no social media accounts allowed for internet stupidity crimes.

Yeah, his son is apparently a scumbag. Tbf though, if your dad isn’t a shit dad, he should probably be ride or die. He didn’t say anything excusing his son’s behavior in the link posted; he only said the line into warranting physical force wasn’t crossed.

Did he come down on his son like a ton of bricks in private for being a scumbag and tell him he got what he deserved? Did he applaud his son for his son’s bs behavior? Idk, and he could be a good father or a shitty one for how he handled his son here. He might have said more problematic shit somewhere else that I haven’t seen, which would obviously change things.

A dad upset about his son getting shot, even if he is a dikbag, is honestly a fair position (as long as he doesn’t actually defend or validate his son’s actions).

He’s his dad. He’s supposed to biased towards his son. We’re supposed to be able to recognize that, and view it in that context.

Idk, I have absolutely zero to say in defense of his son. I don’t know that I even agree with the dad’s assessment (you definitely do need to cross a line for deadly force to be ok. I’m not sure I agree that line wasn’t crossed here though), but I recognize that as a dad he’s supposed to stand up for his son publicly. Where I was raised though, after standing up for his son publicly his son would have ALSO gotten a beat down for this shit in private, at home.
