I'm not sure how the US works, but in canada this is assault. If he had actually hit the guy it would've been battery.

Edit: I've actually got it mixed up, in the US this is assault too, but it's the US that has a seperate battery charge. This would also be assault in Canada.

There really needs to be restrictions on filming in public. It's not 1996 anymore where maybe someone occasionally has a camcorder, everyone has a video recording device in their pocket, and it's having negative societal effects.

Also, the mass surveillance network's gotta go too. Widespread camera systems with license plate readers, facial recognition, gait detection, and cellphone tracking hardware? Fuck all that.
