Have to double check the caps for their esr but atleast none of them are leaking.

Tube is A51JXH60X

Double scart for rgb, s-video and composite.

Snes is 1chip with scart rgb.

Sega is a model 1 on composite.

The story is that I was looking for some other higher-value electronics new in box off Marketplace. This was sitting in the seller’s shed and it struck my eye instantly. He said “oh an old monitor? those aren’t even a good paperweight.” Needless to say I left one happy camper.

I picked this up at an estate sale to upgrade my previous setup. I havent found a ton of info about these specifically, but I have found a pretty good bit about the Toshiba AF series. Thankfullv the user and service manual have been archived.

This is a 36 inch flat toshiba tube. A part of the "cinema' series so supposedly it was top of the line. I tried to find an ad /listing on the internet archive but wasnt able to find anything. Chassis number of TAC 0125. Manufacture date of Julv 2001.

Great quality from the component input despite some persistent convergence/geometry issues. I've been playing through Nocturne and Persona 4, but I was never able to make out all the individual demons on the title screen up until now.

I plan to service the board and fix the convergence issues after I get done with some other project tvs.

Hello, this is my very first CRT, a Philips 21PT1557/01 (L01.2E AA Chassis). I got it for 20 € on marketplace.

For now i only have a PS2 hooked up but i am planning on adding some more retro stuff like the NES and SNES, maybe a Wii.

I am new to this, how would you rate this TV.

Havent checked on the geometry, it looks ok to me, but i am a noob so maybe i should double check. Just need to figure out how.

Someone told me i should order a real RGB cable because the picture is allegedly much better than with a AV composite. Would you agree? Thanks

Picked up a rolling mini shelf at goodwill for $7 for the CRT I just got, got a 4 way AV switcher from Amazon so I can switch between N64 and PS2 on the fly, can’t wait to start building the collection.

Pretty fascinating Japan only, 15-35khz, tv/monitor hybrid. Super tinted, sharp, NEC tube with composite, s-video and rgb. Love having it on the desk.

First 2 photos are RGBS to composite on a JVC TM-A101G, and the latter 2 are on a Barco ADVM10 with S-Video.

Currently connected is a Superstation One via component cables and i'm pretty happy with the quality. It definitely has some convergence issues, and I don't have a remote to change any settings, but it's pretty damn nice regardless.

I believe the model is a Phillips 29pt3323. I had a contact at the dump give me a heads up when a CRT came in, and this is the first one I've had.

Feels like I struck gold, or are my standards too low?

My boss gave me a 19in Sony Trinitron GDM-400PS CRT Monitor. I'm having issues with the picture being very dark. I've adjusted the Brightness and Contrast to 100% and tried various settings but it looks like the capacitors are going out or something. Does anyone know the commen issues with this CRT and how much it could cost to have it recapped if that's the issue. I'm located in Greenville, SC if anyone is interested in helping me fix it.

Note: Pictures make the image look a tad brighter than it actually is.

Basically I every input you need except for component inputs, I plugged in my ps2 via s video and the image is absolutely perfect and sharp, also rgb is working like a charm, I GOT THIS FOR 5 BUCKS BTW

Monitors are JVC TM-1051D, SONY PVM-8042Q, and, JVC BM-H1900SU.

I won this Futura monitor for 2 dollars at an online auction and sadly it was damaged during shipping. I haven't seen another one of these monitors when looking for crts a while ago so i dont know if theres much hope of fixing it. I also don't even know if it is fixable. Also please let me know if this is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. I have not plugged it in and will not plug it in. The screen has no damage but i think it's the electron gun that is severely damaged. I can provide more information if you guys need it. I also doubt there are any CRT repair guys left in the Norfolk, VA area but I am going to check

Hello and thanks for any answers I might get in advance , so it’s been a while since I gamed in my old tv, so after a while I decided to beat captain America and the avengers and to my surprise the tv does this really weird thing in the left corner .

It’s a really shitty tv I don’t even know the model and it’s at least 25 years old so I mostly just wanna know if it’s something fixable or a sign that the tv is about to give up

I have a Panasonic TX-28LB1F that refuses to save service menu changes. The problem occurs when i switch from AV to TV mode. But also when I turn off the TV or the console.

The STR button is supposed to save settings and does so. But only temporarily before doing any of the things mentioned above

Other than that the TV works fine but this problem bugs me.

Edit: The problem only seems to occur when it's in RGB mode. The settings do get saved to both TV and AV but not RGB.

The crt is able to produce really good colors for the most part but whenever there are certain reds, they tend to look almost reddish orange rather than just red. Is there any way I can remedy this?

Hi all, i got a SNES (SNS-CPU-1CHIP-01) and i have rolling lines going down the screen vertically. its very hard to see on video but in person its a lot worse. i thought it might have been interference from a homemade cable, but the issue remains even with OEM nintendo cables.

Damn it. I promised myself I wasn’t going to buy any more CRTs…

The seller I recently bought that giant 34" CRT from offered me two more monitors — a 27" and a 14" — both supposedly broken. The price was way too good to pass up.

He told me they powered on but wouldn’t show the OSD menu, so he assumed they were broken. He basically said, “Take them as-is, no returns.”

So… I made another 6-hour round trip to pick them up and get back home. 😂

Before going, I’d already done some research on what could be wrong with them and was prepared to repair them. I was hoping it would just be a couple of bad capacitors or something simple.

Well… imagine my surprise when I dragged these things home and discovered that BOTH OF THEM WORK PERFECTLY.

It was a freaking miracle. 😂

Turns out the seller just didn’t really know how to use them and apparently messed up some of the settings.

Considering I basically bought three monitors from the same guy — the 34", 27", and 14" — the total price I paid for all three ended up being ridiculously good.

The only issue is that the little 14" monitor has a small purple spot on the screen. It looks like it just needs to be degaussed, so hopefully that takes care of it. Fingers crossed. 🤞

Now I really hope this is the end of my CRT collecting…

My wife told me if I bring home ONE MORE CRT, she’s kicking me out of the house along with the monitors. LOL.

P.S. She still hasn’t seen the 34" one. I left it at my office… 😂

seems to be doing this weird vertical scrolling, not sure what this could mean!

Most subreddits I visit seems to have this option turned on. Thing is, CRTGaming is about the only sub where I'd really like the option. It's essential to illustrate problems and help in technical threads, or for just showing an OP a similar/relevant setup without having to post a whole new thread.

I ask because there's a post I was thinking of making of a quirky arcade CRT setup, but it's the kind of thread that just begs for pics of other examples in the comments. Feels weird posting a whole thread for just my one picture. This often stops me posting photos to be honest.

I know you can hyperlink to an image host, but it's not a great alternative. It's not pretty, it asks extra effort and trust, lots of countries these days can't access image hosts that are common in other countries, and the slop ads are a bit of a repellent too. People generally don't click.

I DM'd this to mods a while ago with no reply. Ideally it'd be nice to see the option turned on but if not I'm just curious of the reason. Typical reasons are clutter/spam and additional work moderating. But this is a pretty informative sub, would off-topic image spam actually be a problem here relative to the average sub that has them turned on? I feel it causes clutter by encouraging new topics that could have just been a simple reply to an existing topic.
