Damn it. I promised myself I wasnāt going to buy any more CRTsā¦
The seller I recently bought that giant 34" CRT from offered me two more monitors ā a 27" and a 14" ā both supposedly broken. The price was way too good to pass up.
He told me they powered on but wouldnāt show the OSD menu, so he assumed they were broken. He basically said, āTake them as-is, no returns.ā
So⦠I made another 6-hour round trip to pick them up and get back home. š
Before going, Iād already done some research on what could be wrong with them and was prepared to repair them. I was hoping it would just be a couple of bad capacitors or something simple.
Well⦠imagine my surprise when I dragged these things home and discovered that BOTH OF THEM WORK PERFECTLY.
It was a freaking miracle. š
Turns out the seller just didnāt really know how to use them and apparently messed up some of the settings.
Considering I basically bought three monitors from the same guy ā the 34", 27", and 14" ā the total price I paid for all three ended up being ridiculously good.
The only issue is that the little 14" monitor has a small purple spot on the screen. It looks like it just needs to be degaussed, so hopefully that takes care of it. Fingers crossed. š¤
Now I really hope this is the end of my CRT collectingā¦
My wife told me if I bring home ONE MORE CRT, sheās kicking me out of the house along with the monitors. LOL.
P.S. She still hasnāt seen the 34" one. I left it at my office⦠š
