In the past several years, Capcom has absolutely earned my trust back. Whatever they've got going on over there, I hope they never change that recipe

RE Engine is a bit part of what fueled their recent winning streak.

Capcom realized much like Nintendo that having custom developer tools IN-HOUSE fuels a lot of creative growth.

All these other studios failing again after again are the ones who outsource technology, hire contractors/temp workers, etc.

In other words, competent business and studio management allows the creatives within to flourish. Western studios NEED to take note.

That engine also was what initially soured expectations when they stressed the engine to do open world systems like with Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds (so many things the occulsion culling didn't do). They hope the REX engine can handle open worlds so we'll wait and see.

Bethesda has shown that not every company should have its own engine. Hell, CDPR's engine was so bad they abandoned it.

Too bad instead they just keep on laying off people who hold immense tribal knowledge and wonder why projects take forever with people who have no experience.
