i did trace over the outline of the horse for anatomy purposes but for the colouring and shading it was mostly my work. i think i colour picked for the inside of the mouth and then didn't use that colour anyways? lol. most of the time i colour pick i ended up just using a different colour that's similar, to make it more interesting (if i even do it, i train myself to not rely on that).

Hello everyone, is there any good software for drawing? For now, I'm using Krita since it's free and I'm a beginner but if there's any other software I'm unaware of, I will appreciate it if someone can tell me. I definitely will not pay or subscribe for software if the additional features are something I don't need.

Am i wrong?

I've been trying to draw the head from different angles from imagination for a few days now, it always felt weird and today i came up with this shit.

My method of doing the head (i might be wrong please correct me):

1st:- The circle/sphere

2nd: the +, i theorized that the plus is straight when looking at it from a different angle and you tilt the plus if tilting the head

3rd:- the 2 wrapping lines of the sphere originating from the ends of the plus. The intersection of those lines determine the centre of the eyebrow ridge also how much you curve those lines determine the angle of the head

4th:- you got your sphere and angle now follow loomis.

Am i onto something or am i tweaking

Also my 2/4th drawing is bad it looks like he os opening his mouth a bit but you get my point right

I'm trying to draw the pose in the first shape but as the character in the 2nd/3rd(a friend asked me to try) but I can't seem to find the guys body shape to outline it in simple shapes and even if I did I don't think I'm good enough at anatomy to reshape it into the proportions of the 2nd one can anyone tell me how I can do this decently easy?

I'm trying to learn to colour properly and I don't know how to start or improve I tried drawing from a reference and this is what I got, how do I go about actually learning how to colour properly I feel like the drawing aspect is also a problem when I try do references also colour theory I tried to do the undertone stuff but it loks wrong

I'm using fabercastel classics 12 pack, I was thinking of getting the polychromos 12 pack but I wanted to try the cheap ones first

Trying to learn how to paint water, but it feels very off.

I think this exercise trains your brain to focus on shapes/contrast instead of symbols. Similar to the upside down exercises in the book "drawing on the right side of the brain". I also love how it looks

Painting something everyday, and this is Penny my Hen. How can I improve her?

I’ve gone over this so many times with different layers of shading, but it still feels flat. The body especially feels flat, even after I tried adding some fur texture. Any tips on how I can give it more dimension or realism ?

Additionally, the third image was my main inspo, so it’s pretty much the style I’m trying to replicate.. while also trying to do lighting similar to the last image.

So, I've been reading this book titled The Complete Guide To Drawing Manga & Anime by Date Naoto. The very first lesson is about the proportion of the face and head (see picture). It's really useful honestly to have it as a guideline, but honestly this just seems soo technical 😭. So much dividing.

Im wondering how am I supposed to move on from here to keep these proportions "locked" in my brain when i draw manga/anime heads? I mean do i always keep drawing a circle and dividing it and drawing horizontal/vertical lines before i draw the facial features until I dont need it anymore...? I feel like a lot of people who start out drawing characters just draw from their intuitive understanding of a face and get better over time. But I do wanna draw with the right rough proportions, especially when it comes to side profile, which the book explains in its second exercise.

If anyone has any exercise recommendations for proportions or wanna share their perspective/experience pls do comment 🙏

(Ps im also aware the vertical lines in my drawing are not completely vertical lol, its been a while since i drew stg with a ruler and protractor)

I really wanna learn how to draw dogs. I know that there are probably YouTube videos about it, but I prefer using paper books. If I go off of YouTube there will probably be videos pulling you in every direction. I also just like the feeling of paper. I’ve been really liking Figure Drawing For All Its Worth so anything like that is a plus. Thanks!
