Someone who knows more about the case, what exactly were the options for this lady? Would she just walk if they cane back not guilty or would it be a "by way of mental defect" situation where she would just not be in jail? It feels like the more I learn about this the further it ventures into white feminism territory.

Either prison or mental institution

So prison for life or potentially a permanent or temporary stay at a mental institution.
