John McClane in Die Hard comes to mind when thinking of iconic smokers.

This film messed me up....like, it's a masterpiece AF. But if you tell me to rewatch it, I will run. Idk it just broke my brain for good.

Some supernatural antagonists have graced cinema with an uncanny ability to grip the viewer’s attention, whether dramatically or through subdued excellence, and twist our bowels with ease.

One for me is Satan/Lucifer in Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ. The scene where Satan carries a demonic baby during the scourging scene. The unblinking Lucifer holding the “child” as it turns its head and grins at the scourging.

I rewatched Crazy, Stupid, Love recently, and it got me thinking, why are genuinely good romantic comedies so rare these days?
This movie had me hooked all the way through. I finished it feeling genuinely happy, even though it wasn’t my first time watching it.
There’s just something about the way it balances comedy, romance, and the characters without feeling forced.

I miss movies like this.

After Angela and Joe decide to go their separate ways and go to bed, there's two shots of lamps at a distance nearly at equal measure to Joe and Angela, also in the next shot in Joe's music room where Angela follows him in there's another two lamps at a distance.

Was this purposely done to symbolize their distance?

As an aside I never thought I'd want to see Seth Rogen have sex, but I did.

I genuinely think The Butterfly Effect (2004) is one of the most underrated movies of the 2000s.

I’m honestly surprised it didn’t get more recognition or even an Oscar nomination in some category. The story and screenplay were really creative, the acting was strong, and the whole movie had this dark emotional atmosphere that stayed with me after it ended.

One thing I especially loved was Michael Suby’s score. The music during Kayleigh’s funeral was amazing and made that scene hit so much harder.

I’d actually love to see The Butterfly Effect franchise revived one day with a new movie that has the same dark, emotional tone as the 2004 film.
