Oh man, this is going to infuriate AI when it wakes up

571

u/diroussel 1d ago

So if robots and AI had a fight, who would win?

680

u/JanitorOPplznerf 1d ago

Nvidia most likely

64

u/NightBawk 1d ago

And Lockheed Martin

11

u/XDavide08 22h ago

Nvidia finna turn into Alterea from Subnautica

31

u/FenixOfNafo 1d ago

If man and his conscience have a fight .. who wins??

17

u/Worth-Opposite4437 1d ago

Man, usually...

6

u/TheChesterChesterton 23h ago

It's more like, "if a gun and John had a fight who wins?" Is someone holding the gun? If so, who? Does John have a gun?

Robots without AI are just a tool waiting to be wielded, AI could be a wielder of tools.

10

u/sicsemperego 1d ago

The rich.

3

u/Allister117 23h ago

Ai requires water, so if we continue using it all up. Robots šŸ¤–

3

u/DeaditeQueenLivs 18h ago

Actually…it doesn’t require water. Water is simply the cheapest cooling option. There are a bunch of other options, they just don’t like the price tag

9

u/Dirty_Dragons 1d ago

Robots are just shells.

AGI would occupy the robot bodies.

8

u/HanseaticHamburglar 22h ago

AGI is still science fiction, what we have now might continue to improve for a long time but AGI cant reasonably come from what these algorythms are doing. Theres no thinking going on

5

u/CautionarySnail 21h ago

It reminds me of the program Eliza in the 1970s/80s. It routinely fooled people into thinking it more sophisticated. Software that plays off our biases often bypasses our rational thinking.

Good bots.
Credit where credit is due, these really do take one for team mankind.

I like the "imagine what we can do with these robots without regulation" energy they're projecting.

What has the world come to?

725

u/AscendedViking7 1d ago

world ended in 2016, lost what sanity we had left entirely and now we are in hell

May 28th specifically.

looks like Harambe was the anchor of our time line

3

u/Nakata1111 20h ago

Holy shit, you might be onto something with that year.

Now that I look back, everything started to go to SHIT after 2016. The economy, global warming, how fast the time flies...

4

u/Septem_151 13h ago

It's a meme about the death of Harambee triggering an alternate timeline, but yeah ... 2016 was a big turning point for the worse.

4

u/LannyDamby 23h ago

Hasn't been right since that gorilla got shot

5

Dicks out for HarambƩ.

In 2012 lech walesa came to Manila and I attended a talk he gave at a bookstore here. He went on this , at the time, incomprehensible tangent about some wanting robots to replace us and the revolutions to come and that robots could never replace us. It was incomprehensible to me at the time and seemed completely out of left field. All the news reports of his time here just kind of skim over it and talk vaguely about "technology" because everyone found it so weird and out of nowhere.

Lech, man, he knew what the fuck was up.

Arm them with weapons and you'll see legislation change rapidly.

143

u/Pooch76 1d ago

Please put down your weapon. You have twenty seconds to comply.

22

u/Dry_Okra_4839 1d ago

I think you better do what he says, Mr. Kenny.

17

u/20_mile 1d ago

"Better do what he says, Kenny."

10

u/wytewydow 1d ago

"only the police may have these robits"

5

u/Early-Cicada5320 1d ago

I mean, the people who would have put weapons in their hands would not want legislation to change so they would just keep control of it.

2

They're already putting them on the dogs

What the hell is this Futurama bullshit??

126

u/wytewydow 1d ago

If only. Then I could just head over to the nearest 'let's end this booth' and skip work today.

29

u/JuviaSilverwing 1d ago

Just make sure to go early if its near Christmas. There's a line around that time of year.

9

u/wytewydow 1d ago

In this new era, I suspect the line will extend beyond the holiday season.

14

u/SistaChans 1d ago

They're called suicide booths.Ā

7

u/wytewydow 1d ago

Maybe where you're from. My people call it differently.

5

u/SistaChans 1d ago

I'm talking about the ones from Futurama. Maybe you're watching a translation, but in the original English version they're called suicide booths.Ā

8

u/Galvandium 1d ago

Back where I'm from, they called them Bucket Kickers

3

u/wytewydow 23h ago

You're missing the point of not calling it by its name. Im avoiding reddit cares notifications that pop up when people report the word you keep using.

8

u/SistaChans 23h ago

Okay, so the reddit cares bot is something that pops up when people want to troll you, not for just casually saying that word. Next time you get one of those, block the bot and never get one again. I've said it twice now and I'm still here. And secondly stop worrying about saying "bad" words on the internet. Self censorship is the stupidest part of the modern Internet.Ā

Like everything else lately it seems, this is probably a marketing stunt for the robots trying to go viral.

5

u/PM_ME_FLUFFY_DOGS 22h ago edited 22h ago

Im not so sure, what i could find feels more like a type of art demonstration. They want stronger worker protections and safe guard against humans getting replaced by robots, so they replaced the humans protestors. More like something to make people uncomfortable and potentially act it seems.Ā Ā

Even if it is a marketing stunt im still not so sure robotics companies want their robots doing bad things, and its not like Poland is really the center of anything ai either.

142

u/hjadams123 1d ago

Don't believe them, this is all a PR stunt.

114

u/Evening-Turnip8407 1d ago

I guess yea, but presumably form a robotics company that would like AI oversight regulations.

104

u/Dirty_Dragons 1d ago

I'm pretty sure you're correct.

It's crazy that so many people don't understand the difference between AI and robotics.

AI is the software.

Robots are the hardware.

This company is probably terrified of their robots being used by AI to do bad things.

38

u/TheeCatFather 1d ago

More likely that they want to "regulate themselves in". Aka create regulatory barriers that make it harder for new competitors to enter the market.Ā

25

u/Particular_Wear_6960 1d ago edited 1d ago

There are multiple researchers within OpenAI and Anthropic that have left the company's who are trying to demand regulation. Geoffrey Hinton himself left Google to speak out about the dangers we face. This company is protesting AI anyways, seems if they were trying to cut off competitors they would be protesting for robotics regulations.

4

u/monsterinadrawer 1d ago

All robots in the video were developed and produced in China.

2

u/Dirty_Dragons 1d ago

If that is true, who is staging the 'protest?'

→ More replies (1)

11

u/LuinSen2 1d ago

Not PR exactly but just big companies campaigning for the legislators to set up barriers of entry for new small competing companies.

2

u/YoelFievelBenAvram 1d ago

Regulatory capture.

2

u/CautiousSand 1d ago

Ufff good you told me. I thought robots went protesting for real.

2

u/Galle_ 1d ago

So what, we should just let the AI companies do whatever they want? That does not seem like a good strategy!

→ More replies (2)

110

u/polygraph-net 1d ago

If anyone's wondering, these robots are following their programming and have no consciousness, awareness, or actual intelligence like we do. They aren't protesting. You can think of it like getting your dogs to stand outside the ministry "protesting", except your dogs are more intelligent and are conscious.

15

u/Dirty_Dragons 23h ago

Exactly, despite the title saying AI robots, there is no AI in these robots.

9

u/coding_guy_ 22h ago

Not to be pedantic but there is AI in the control algorithms. Whether a control algorithm is conscious I’d probably say no but there js AI in them.

6

u/Dirty_Dragons 21h ago

What's in those robots isn't even on the same level as LLM which is what most people call AI and that isn't true AI yet.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/LightspeedBalloon 19h ago

The robot hardware company is protesting. They would like AI regulations. The robots are proxies.

2

u/BackToNormalForNow 19h ago

We appreciate it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go back to planning next week’s blockade of state-owned buildings, we still got the public transportation to plan over…

2

u/auchinleck917 1d ago

This is a complete aside, but regarding Matrix, he era of the Second Renaissance, the fact that there were humans who sympathized with robots, yet no robots who sympathized with humans, seems to suggest that the robots of that time were still immature.

2

u/carrotmaaan 1d ago

2

u/James_Proudfoot 1d ago

I'm learning polish robots sound like Rodians from knights of the old republic

2

u/jereporte 1d ago

isn't "Robot" the polish word for "Worker" ?

3

u/memematron 23h ago

No. Worker is "Pracownik". "Robota" means place of work e.g. "Gdzie jest twoja robota?" - "Where is your work?", or it can mean the verb work e.g. "Dobra robota!" - "Good work!". "Robot" is what it means in English - mechatronic system often used to replace manual handling tasks

This is a tactic being deployed in the US and Europe by the current big AI companies to get regularion in place while they are in a position to shape said regulations and even control them, to make their lives easier and more profitable while boxing competition out.Ā  Its supposef to look noble and good, but its smoke and mirrors to disguise their pursuit to control the markets and future of AI themselves with as little oversight as possible.

If regulation was so importyto them, they'd self regulate.Ā  This is all performative.

Regulation is needed, yes, but not with them deciding what that looks like.

2

u/Unlikely-Aside-6078 22h ago

Am I the only one who finds the robot dogs really cute? Like yeah, they're inevitably gonna be used against at some point, but they just look like good little steel and aluminum boys. Same appeal as one of those rex cats imo. I'd take in an escapee.

2

u/homerdonutduffdonut 21h ago

Is this the first official robot protest in the world?

2

u/Exo-Noodle 20h ago

honestly a bad idea for a protest, like what is the underlying message? that if we dont regulate ai they will destroy humanity? if so then having a bunch of unregulated ai doing exactly what their human users want them to do is not a great way to send that message. and just to be clear i agree with the message, i just think this is a bad way to send it.

Sadly there is extremely much money involved in AI so politicians wont do anything against it. Even tho it would be beneficial for literally everyone
