Damn I thought that was just some average height dude on stilts or something. But he’s just built like that

u/Illustrious_Donkey61 13h ago

Even without the makeup he looks a bit weird

u/charcoallition 13h ago edited 12h ago

Wow that's incredibly rude

Edit: why are you booing me, I'm right

52

u/Illustrious_Donkey61 13h ago

I don't mean it in a mean way.

41

u/JustKindaShimmy 9h ago

Brother, casting picked him to play the bizarrely shaped alien because he's bizarrely shaped

-14

u/charcoallition 2h ago

I'm sure you all would love being made fun of for the way you were born 😏

65

u/perfect_insanity93 15h ago

u/No-Drink-9006 15h ago

And Cailee is 4ft 11 ¾ - 151.8 cm

12

u/theb00mScicle 14h ago

130 lbs. Or like 77 grams or whatever.

2

u/sinsculpt 13h ago

No fucking way he's 7'7" and only 130

17

u/bouquetofashes 13h ago edited 13h ago

I'm seeing that he weighed about 190 lbs in high school and his career weight is most often given at around 224 lbs. Which for a height of 7'7" is a BMI of 16.1 to 19.0. BMI probably should be adjusted with the proposed new formula for someone that tall, so accounting for that it's ~16.2, which yeah that scales much better with his proportions, imo.

I'm pretty sure he'd be a contender for the lowest recorded BMI if he was 130 lbs. Which would definitely not allow him to be active enough to make movies.

4

u/Total-Satisfaction-8 15h ago edited 15h ago

I could google but how tall i Cailee then? It literally looks like she's like half his height here..

1

u/barry_001 15h ago

She's 5'1", so a little more than half his height but not much

2

u/Killer_Method 9h ago

67% of his height.

u/yuvaldv1 17h ago

So creepy. This guy also played the monster (pirate Clark) in Backrooms.

192

u/Mcmenger 17h ago

I wonder what it feels like to be typecasted as horror monster

241

u/Moto-Guy 16h ago

Probably great, since this guy would struggle in 99% of other paying jobs.

32

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 14h ago

That 1% NBA money though....

44

u/9fingerjeff 13h ago

You think he can run down the court built like that? He’s half the weight he should be for that height.

21

u/sinsculpt 13h ago

He's a basketball player already.

11

u/SuperMajesticMan 11h ago

Was*

Pretty sure. I remember him saying basketball injured him too much and was glad to switch to movies.

11

u/9fingerjeff 12h ago

Really? That’s crazy. You’d think he’d break a bone so easily.

10

u/sinsculpt 12h ago

He's apparently 224 lbs. Which is definitely light for that height, but nothing debilitating.

8

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 11h ago

Got that bird build

2

u/9fingerjeff 12h ago

I’ll just take your word for it.

8

u/Moto-Guy 12h ago

He's an absolutely horrendous basketball player and is there more so as a side show.

11

u/sinsculpt 11h ago

Poor guy. He definitely has a future in film! And that's fairly lucrative if he lands big roles.

5

u/Moto-Guy 11h ago

Absolutely

52

u/A_Gray_Phantom 16h ago

He can't play basketball anymore, so getting work as an actor probably rocks.

21

u/shootsandlads 16h ago

Doug Jones seems to love it

41

u/jB_real 17h ago

Probably a lot like me with my personal life, but with better pay.

37

u/Demerzel69 16h ago

Doug Jones made an entire career out of playing monsters and weird tall beings. He's the best at what he does.

9

u/gecko090 15h ago

I mean, people love him for it. And people simply know about him as a person for it. It is a weird thing to try and rationalize or even moralize? As much as it relies on "difference", we get to see the real human person behind it.

10

u/CitizenHuman 16h ago

A job is a job, right? Actors are typecast for all types of reasons, so it's probably nice that he has this niche not many can fill.

7

u/CordlessOrange 11h ago

Yeah, directors are probably so happy this dude is around. His roles aren’t like “oh let’s just put some eyeshadow on this freak” the dude is in some serious quality prosthetics. I’d be so happy I didn’t have to CGI the hell out of something for once. I’d imagine the audience appreciates it as well.

4

u/NYCtoCHI 15h ago

Probably pretty good, as most non-A-list actors spend the bulk of their time auditioning and waiting for the phone to ring telling them they booked a gig; it's one of the niches of acting where accepting you're a "type" and leaning into it instead of fighting it can potentially keep you working if you've got a unique look like this guy or you're chameleonic and uniquely good at it if you don't.

That said, the hours are long and grueling since they're likely the first to get in the makeup chair early in the morning, then have to suffer through wearing it and whatever heavy/hot/uncomfortable costumes they're zipped or bolted into all day (there's stories galore of how some of their iconic suits made eating and going to the bathroom...umm..interesting), then having it all removed 18 hours later, then doing it all over again the next day, and again, and again...

On top of all that, most monster actors aren't huge names and pretty faceless, so unless someone lands an iconic role like Robert Englund did for Freddy Krueger, the pay for going through all that probably isn't much more than union scale, with a few extra bump-ups for being specialized. Definitely more the sort of gig you do because you love doing it than to be famous or get rich - and if you can even still do at all, since it's not one many can physically do into old age, and since CGI/AI are making more and more live-acted creature/monster gigs obsolete. 😕

3

u/Arthropodesque 11h ago

Doug Jones (del Toro's guy) and Andy Serkis are the main creature actors.

2

u/dardar7161 8h ago

Doug Jones knows all about that. It's a good gig!

1

u/UmbranAssassin 15h ago

Man needs to be in the next Avatar movie.

1

u/Jean-Eustache 8h ago

Exactly what I was wondering about, makes total sense

134

u/Common-Accountant-57 17h ago

It would be so fun to go to McDonald’s dressed like that on lunch break.

27

u/apathetic_batman 15h ago

Robert Englund and Jonny Depp did go to lunch once during nightmare with englund in full Freddie attire.

6

u/SpectreRSG 10h ago

Pretty sure Hellraiser did the same thing after their daily shoots. Went to the bar/pub in full makeup

159

u/AnEvenNicerGuy 14h ago

holy fucking shit

I knew it wasn't a CG monster but I didn't realize it was legit just a dude in a suit. That's wild as hell

Even more evidence that what Ridley Scott said about this movie is complete bullshit

21

u/Big_Mud_9371 14h ago

He didn't like it?

70

u/AnEvenNicerGuy 14h ago

Actually, I suddenly went back and got involved. The one that just came out [Alien: Romulus] was OK. I think it needs some help. So, I’ve gone back in.

From an interview with him. Apparently he's writing the script for the sequel and plans to shoehorn in David from Prometheus

Dude's lost his fucking mind

14

u/Artanis137 11h ago

I have no idea what is with Scotts obession with trying to meld Alien with Blade Runner.

3

u/AnEvenNicerGuy 3h ago

Pretty sure he’s said they are in the same universe and has tried to make the connection in previous movies

1

u/Artanis137 50m ago

Now I don't mind the idea of it, its a fun bit of potential world building.

However trying to combine the themes of both franchises together is like water and oil, it just doesnt work.

7

u/TheRudDud 6h ago

NGL kinda crazy they're giving it back to him, Romulus was a breath of fresh air after the last few movies

2

u/grassisalwayspurpler 3h ago

You say that as if Romulus didnt bring back the black goo from Promethius and Covenant already as its major plot point already...

2

u/AnEvenNicerGuy 3h ago

No I didn’t?

1

u/grassisalwayspurpler 3h ago

I mean youre saying Romulus was a breath of fresh air compared to the prequels and makes no sense for Scott to come back yet Romulus connects back to Scotts prequels in a mjor way already so not Im understanding your point then

3

u/AnEvenNicerGuy 3h ago

I didn’t say any of that is probably what’s confusing you

3

u/AdventurousSet5804 6h ago

I think the fact that it was an actual movie made this character so much better. I loved this movie!

47

u/JoeyPropane 16h ago

When the Aliens first land on Earth for real, we should send this guy as first contact.

6

u/silva_p 3h ago

Him and Peter Dinklage

55

u/Mannix-Da-DaftPooch 17h ago

Unreal! Amazing job by the team to get this result.

13

u/veryusedrname 15h ago

Everybody on the set speaking Hungarian (nothing interesting sadly)

11

u/Same_Lengthiness8987 16h ago

I remember feeling my soul escape my body briefly in the theater when he appeared in the doorway

10

u/Tnemmokon 9h ago

Ezek a mieink! 🥲

The movie was shot in Budapest I even saw the advertisements for the background roles, sadly I wasn't choosen, but a few friends of mine were!

They said it was a really interesting experience!

6

u/Strict_Maintenance73 12h ago

Brilliant decision to keep this as practical effects/makeup. Looked convincing.

6

u/AtlasXan 7h ago

Would love to see some b role of him just chillin in full makeup like the shots of Tim Curry having a cig break as IT the clown.

15

u/oysterperso 17h ago

Can’t park that there mate

5

u/Fortestingporpoises 10h ago

I love me practical alien effects. Nothing will ever top Alien 3 Fincher and the effects guy I think in the bts laughing about trying to put alien costumes on a greyhound and them showing the footage and it’s just a greyhound with prosthetics on.

6

u/GonzoKata 9h ago

google search Robert Bobroczkyi

Oh so he just looks like that

8

u/Fluffy_Fondant1975 15h ago

Is his crotch a mouth?

8

u/Xszit 14h ago

I woke up this morning with a bad hangover and my penis was missing again.

This happens all the time. It's retractable.

3

u/PatCero 13h ago

Retractable? Not sure if better or worse than detachable.

1

u/Xszit 13h ago

Well you know how aliens have those little retractable mouths inside their mouths....

Like that, but penis.

3

u/Prestigious_Amoeba43 14h ago

I've got a mangina! I'm old gregg!

1

u/Additional_Guitar_85 12h ago

Just a downstairs mixup!

3

u/Emergencyhiredhito 9h ago

I would be crazy tall too (I have Beals Syndrome, which is like Marfans) but my spine was fused as a child. As a result my limbs are freaky long, and my body as short as it was when I was 7.

3

u/LazyLich 8h ago

Oh! He did the monster from Backrooms too!
I also figured that was stilts and clever camera work!

3

u/SGTRoadkill1919 8h ago

It's like that one pic of guy dressed as Satan talking to Jack Black

3

u/Mental_Thing_7899 4h ago

There's something oddly soothing In observing an alien acting casual. "Yeah yeah, for sure. I had a medical yesterday on my three stomachs... everything was mostly fine, it's just the carnivore worms on my second that are a bit too slow, but I got a few pills that will take care of that in a couple of weeks."

23

u/kleggich 17h ago

Are we sure that's not Ariana Grande?

2

u/jaklacroix 13h ago

This is why practical effects will always rule!

2

u/hamfist_ofthenorth 11h ago

Those prosthetics are unreal. I can't tell what the fuck is going on

3

u/enerthoughts 17h ago

Last second you will hear a guy snorting some "sugar", gives 100% real Hollywoodish atmosphere.

2

u/grungegoth 15h ago

did a search on him. yeah, I'm happy to be me.

1

u/justkeepswimming2026 14h ago

how much did they pay him for this? :D

1

u/curiousmind111 14h ago

I read that as Robot at first - but, no, he’s real!

1

u/leviathab13186 14h ago

Looks like a water cooler kinda conversation

1

u/babaroga73 13h ago

His full name is Bob Robertroczkyi

1

u/YodasLoveSlave 11h ago

I would dress like that for every Halloween and scare the absolute bejesus out of children

1

u/Hagoromo-san 10h ago

Now this is frightening.

1

u/mookanana 9h ago

he got that peepee cuts in the crotch for bathroom breaks

1

u/professorgrey99 16h ago

Tommy no likey!

1

u/fattatgirl 14h ago

That’s a no from me, dawg.

1

u/infiltrator_seven 14h ago

Is he ok? It looks like its hard for him to stand

1

u/fullmudman 1h ago

He normally walks with a cane.

0

u/Merr77 14h ago

Was he tiny also? or someone else?

0

u/daymanXYZ 10h ago

What make up

0

u/zoley88 9h ago

The guy looks like an alien even without the costume

0

u/Killer_Method 9h ago

Oh yeah! I remember seeing this clip for the first time. It was on Instagram. While the movie was still in theaters. It had been out for like two weeks. I hadn't seen it yet. And I had been waiting 7 fucking years for this movie.

I quit Instagram that day and never looked back. I honestly couldn't bring myself to even watch the film for another year or so after that because I was so upset at the spoiler.

-5

u/Jackal-Noble 14h ago

too bad the movie sucked
