you won't get hearing damage at 100 for brief periods...... 114 seems like the danger point. and with decibels, that's a big difference.

i think this marmot has a well calibrated response - really objectionable, but not harmful. a perfect 'fuck off'.

This looks a lot like Whistler, we have the exact same wooden fence/barriers and a ton of Marmots. I live here but I'm not 100% on that

Not sure if the rule is the same anymore, but I remember parks advising visitors to give at least 30 yards distance for prey/herbivores and 90 yards distance for predator/carnivores.

This seems like a good example why you would want that distance, lol

This isn’t a park, it’s a ski resort in the summer. The marmots eat right in front of the gondola at the top of whistler and blackcomb. This is blackcomb.

They were observing respectfully, not feeding it, and backed off at the whistle. Kids need experiences like this, not parents telling them to stay 30 yards away from every squirrel they see.
