I picked up LOTR at about the same time the movie was due to come out. I remember walking into a bookstore and they had a cutout of Viggo by the display and (without even reading any labels) going "WOW that guy looks like how I imagined Strider in Lord of the Rings."
Then I realized that's what he was and went, "well, I guess I gotta see this one."
And I’m old enough to remember when this casting was announced, and all the Batman fanboys were melting down over the pretty boy from 10 things I hate about you playing their beloved villain.
Like, it’s comical, the amount of temper tantrums that were being spewed all over the Internet over this casting.
I can't argue that MM was great in this and I'm not usually a fan of his but it was really making me and the missus laugh what with Woody being a 50 year old sack of potatoes looking guy being apparently irresistible to incredibly beautiful women.
There's this moment in No Way Home where he's been Norman the whole scene and is facing away from the camera, but you can tell the second he starts speaking that the Goblin has reappeared, just from the voice and the way he's standing.
This and Ken are his best roles, over La La Land and The Notebook. I don’t love RG as a romantic lead, but his comic timing and general likability is incredible.
I love him ! I was a huge fan of him as Ken, and a theme in Andy’s protagonists is having humor as a coping mechanism so I was pleasantly surprised from the beginning and was so happy to see him deliver so well
The fact that he was supposed to die, like in the books, but they kept him for the fans is a testament to his impact in this role. The best part of the series, hands down.
I resisted watching this for so long, because I didn't think I'd be able to separate him from Hal (malcolm in the middle, because he was amazing in that and have fond memories! Didnt think I'd be able to take him seriously)
He blew me away, and now I'll watch him in anything. And seems like an incredibly nice, decent man also.
His.performance in this show really was one of the best of all time. Easily puts this show in top 3 of all time, just so consistently brilliant, and the level of detail and character development... I think I've rewatched all of them 4 times and I'm due another!
Such an enjoyable performance, I watch this movie multiple times a year (any season!). Those two movies are so great, they just don’t make them like this anymore.
I love both movies. But I think a very rare example of where the sequel is better than the original. Everyone is great, superb casting, but Joan Cusak steals the show in Addams Family Values. Plus Christine Baranski and Peter MacNicol as the Grangers are so hilarious too!
All down to Sarah Halley Finn. It's not an understatement to say that her work casting the entire MCU has played an instrumental part in making it the box office juggernaut that it has become.
Looking back, the MCU seems almost inevitable, so its hard to remember what a gamble Iron Man was. A lesser-known superhero with an actor still coming back from a bad situation? Wild to think about what would have happened if it had flopped.
Same with Lawrence Fishburne who portrayed Ike Turner but because of his performance it’s hard to separate him from that character 😭. He played that role almost too well.
Kiernan Shipka as Sally Draper in Mad Men. Not only was she amazing on the show from like 6-16, she actually looks like she could be the spawn of Jon Hamm and January Jones
They lucked out with this casting. She was so young when she started; there was no way they could have anticipated how well she'd grow into the role as she grew up!
Someone once pointed out that she mimics January Jones’ mannerisms at times. Maybe she was just learning to act from the adults around her, but it’s perfect for a daughter mimicking her mother.

She consistently acted on par with the adults in this show, especially as she got older. I really loved the way she interacted with her parents in the last couple seasons- mimicking Betty’s mannerisms, calling out Don for being a sleaze, and still loving them & being a kid.
Tom Cruise did okay, and Stuart Townsend was such a massive miscast (that whole movie was a mess, only saved by Aaliyah and the soundtrack), but Sam is honestly the best Lestat portrayal ever.
I feel like there's this retroactive narrative that michael cera was considered attractive by 2008 indie standards. I never knew anyone who had a crush on him. He's a great actor but if he was an actress he'd need to have been hot AND quirkyawkward.

These two made Jack and Karen some of the most iconic characters in tv history. I cannot imagine anyone else able to do even half a good job as they did.
