Not to hijack this thread about something unrelated, but how can you tell this is AI? Ive heard this about other celeb posts, especially apologies. Is it bc its long and uses hard returns and dramatic paragraph breaks? That's something I've heard before, but good, thoughtful writers have been doing that since before AI. Are there other tell tale signs?
(For the record, I hate AI and am deeply disappointed in P!nk, I just want to know! Thx.)

While I think there are some "tells", I think the truth is that sometimes we can't know. AI is trained off of common writing patterns. The things people say are "tells" are things we teach students in English. In uni, it was not too dissimilar (I can expand if necessary/anyone is interested, but worried it's getting too off-topic).
I think the best way to ascertain whether it's AI or not, if there are no obvious signs (and by that, I mean dead giveaways where some people have left "prompts" or some bullshit or something that just doesn't make any sense and a human would have noticed), is to judge by prior work.
For example: If this is typical of Pink's style of writing, and matches things she's written before, then it might be Pink, and we are just saying AI everywhere because so many people are using it and bots are rising. (This is not to say people can't improve. I know many things influence my writing - it could be based on what I was watching/reading and now I'm invoking specific imagery I want to emulate, and writing frequently in and of itself is going to improve your capabilities of obviously writing better, how much of a shit I give, et al. But if something is dramatically different, or a different style of writing, then that's something I would notice more. When I used to teach English, before AI, it's what we'd do if we suspected plagiarism. We'd compare and contrast former writing, and then if our suspicions remained, gauge from the student their knowledge and understanding of the topic. Obviously, the latter part of this is not always possible, but the former should be.)
Outside of things like that, I think people do a genuine disservice by labelling so much as AI, because it's going to force a lot of people - and is already forcing a lot of people - to question themselves over whether something they've written/created looks AI or not. I've been accused of it more than once for Reddit comments, and it's largely because I can write paragraphs, the way I am now. More importantly than forcing people to modify how they write the way they've been taught most of their lives (writing in threes, similes and metaphors, the "so what does this mean/why is this important?", is stuff kids should be taught at a young age, so it shouldn't be uncommon), is that if we see AI everywhere, we're going to convince ourselves we can "tell" when something is AI, and that kind of self-assurance falls into things like the "Safe World Fallacy", and leads us open to being more taken by AI, because AI will likely shift away from its current "tells", leaving us "sure" we can tell, but for the most part, I don't think it's as easy to tell what's AI as people want it to be.
I can't say for sure if this is AI. It certainly feels like it could be, but also, a human could have easily written it, just as I've written these stupid ass paragraphs. I don't follow Pink so I don't know how she writes, or if she writes well, but I'd look at things she'd written previously to compare and contrast. There are some good YT channels that help with ascertaining whether something's AI that have really helped me, and D'Angelo Wallace did a really good video on why it's harmful to dismiss everything as AI recently that I'd highly recommend.
I think Hank Green is probably a really good example of this. People noticed that his stuff felt "AI" because it was very different to what he'd been doing previously and the way his videos used to be formatted. As a result, it stood out to a lot of people, who began asking questions, before he admitted he was using AI (I think ChatGPT, but I can't remember for certain.) To me, it's most important to examine everything with a critical lens and then make judgements based on available information as opposed to saying "THAT PERSON USED A SIMILE/METAPHOR/WROTE IN THREES, WROTE "IN ALL HONESTY", or any other common phrase humans have been using for decades).
I hope this answer helps. I fear how many people are using AI, and I fear that it'll not only erase people's abilities to learn, question, research, write and critically think, but it will destroy people creatively, and that doesn't get into the environmental, ethical or legal concerns I have. I fucking hate AI and this shit horrifies me.
Also: FREE PALESTINE! Fuck everyone who's supporting genocide, including those who are remaining silent. In the wise words of Elie Wiesel:
“We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must - at that moment - become the center of the universe.”
ETA: I saw someone source something, and this comment from Wiki really stands out and helps illustrate my point:
"Do not rely too much on your own judgment. Humans are notoriously bad at distinguishing human and LLM-generated text. While research on humans' abilities to detect AI-generated text is still limited, a 2025 study has shown that human ability to distinguish LLM text from human is no better than random chance.[4] Another 2025 study on German theses has shown that humans managed a "recognition rate of 57 % for AI texts and 64 % for human-generated texts".[5]"

My work makes us use Copilot, and they all generally sound the same when crafting a "human" response or when refining word vomit you throw into it. These are the patterns I have noticed when coming across something that feels AI-written:
- Usually lists things "in threes." She does this a lot throughout the post, often separating the phrases with periods so its harder to detect
- Parallel constructions/phrasing like "That's on me," "It's not [x], its [y], "[A] is the reason, not [B] or [C], "[X] has a way of..."
- Metaphors/phrases that aren't typically used in natural language, like "A repost isn't a statement, and a meme isn't a spine," "for working people who have more to worry about than pop stars and pile ons."
- Adjectives where they're not completely necessary
- Loves the Oxford comma and em dash (these can be tricky because I use both a lot in my creative writing and AI has tainted it!)
- Speaking in generalities rather than specifics
- An awful lot of set-up for a "normal" conversation
- Overuse of specific words
There's more, of course, but this is just what I have noticed in the capacity I have used it for work.
If it reads like an overly curated advertisement or blog post, then it was probably written by or "cleaned up" by AI. It appears as though Pink changed punctuation and added some of her own words to help "break it up," but this is just the opinion of a peasant :)
This Wikipedia article shows lots of examples and subtypes of LLM language: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signs_of_AI_writing
Edit: thank youuu for the awards! my hope is that this is helpful to at least one other person. it's hard out there.

Right. And at some point you gotta look at the wider scope. The ethnostate doing a genocide flying a star of david causes more antisemitism than anything else. As well as blatant media campaigns. Jewish people do not control the media (rich people do), but when you blatantly get silenced for opinions on palestine, its just ammo for right wingers anyways.
And theres a history of this. Jewish people feeling unsafe in the western world benefits the stste of israel.

I also read all of it. I'm confused about what she seems to be actually defending from her initial reaction/repost/memes. I just wish she would say something acknowledging that Israel is massacring Palestinians. She says she is against murdering babies (what a hot take) but then doesn’t follow through with talking about who is murdering babies. What shits me about this defence is that if any average person went through what the Palestinians are going through they absolutely WOULD become terrorists. This shit is coming from the culture that is all ‘free carry’ ‘stand your ground’ ‘we hate liberal snowflakes’ - and I’m expected to believe if they were being tortured, displaced and genocided these are the people that would take the high road? If their country was being bombed they’d be ethically opposed to joining an organisation like HAMAS because violence is wrong?
Not to mention more than half of Palestine are under age. But I would not blame them one bit for fighting back. It is a testament to their character that so many still call only for peace and an end to the violence. Can say most of the shitheads I know in the west are not even pacifist at the best of times in their easy cushy lives.
Every IOF member that has hurt an innocent child deserves whatever is coming for them and I’m over Hamas being used to deflect from the real issue. This and antisemitism are the only two cards in the deck. You need new material Pink.

How dare you put words in her mouth by assuming she believed the things she said and agreed with the explicit condemnation that she chose to repost??
Instead, you should let her go out of her way to lie about what Macklemore said and put words in his mouth that he explicitly rejected.
You may say that’s hypocritical, but have you considered the fact that she said George Bush was bad in 2006? Have you considered the fact that actually it’s okay to be hypocritical as long as you support Israel?

Dude, you reposted something without additional commentary. You agreed with what they said but now you’re feeling the heat and are back tracking.
Macklemore didn’t say anything inflammatory. You just got mad and bothered at him saying he doesn’t think innocent kids should be bombed. That was it.
Own it and stand on business. That’s what Pink really thinks.

Her: 👉👈 you guys are saying really mean things like "give our home back" and "stop killing us" and "we deserve to live". That scares me! And Macklemore saying that might have scared people like me at the concert too. :((( Idk why you guys are calling me a Zionist when you don't know my beliefs, all I've said is that I support the Israeli government and that calling for Palestinian freedom makes me fear for my life! I can't hold any immoral views btw, I love gay people! 🌈

And damn at Pink's age she should know better than to lash out like a small child when people disagree with her.
But she's always been a pick me girl.
It's why she encouraged comparisons to her peers and why she assaulted a blow up doll on stage pretending it was Christina.
Fuck her and Free Palestine

The gay coalition has arrived and we’d like to very much be excluded from this narrative, Ms. Pink. You don’t get to use us and 9/11 as smokescreens to protect the genocide of Palestinians.

Lowkey it’s worse she is educated on it but she clearly has a side she’s sticking with and anything else including basic human rights don’t matter on that topic. If this is what she’s willing to post publicly, can’t imagine her actual thoughts she has about this that I definitely know are worse than the chatgpt or whatever this statement is

Why is “free Palestine” taken as an attack on Jewish people? In her own words, why should Jewish people feel threatened by a free state that preserves the human rights and dignity of Palestinians? Could it be, guilt? Is that why they also attack Jewish people that advocate for Palestinian human rights and call them fake Jews?

“To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters: criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you. My message is for peace; love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality.
“So I say Free Palestine, I say Free Lebanon, I say Free Cuba, I say Free Congo, Free Sudan, I say Free all people in America living in fear of this terrorist organization, ICE. None of us will be free until we are all free.”
Part of the actual quote she is saying was an attack on Jews, that they were “being targeted” at a concert. Wild.

A lot of whining, multiple times throughout those paragraphs, about how people are presuming what she thinks and how the words of the thing she reposted aren’t her words and how people just put words in her mouth, etc.
I noticed two things between all of that self aggrandizing woe is me nobody understands me pablum. 1) She never got around to explicitly stating her position beyond “celebrating dead kids is bad,” (though she certainly implied it via her word choice) and 2) she outright lied about what Macklemore said.
She claims that Macklemore showed “violent images of a war,” and that he “then took the mic to tell all of the Jews in the stadium that it wasn’t about them.” She then decided that no, what he said actually IS about all Jews.
That’s also not what he actually said, exactly. He said, correctly, “To all my Jewish brothers and sisters, criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you.”
So in between multiple reiterations of “waaaah you’re putting words in my mouth for thinking I agree with the thing I reposted,” she decided to double down on putting words in Macklemore’s mouth. Vapid, hypocritical, whiny, and callous.
The people who didn’t read her paragraphs of drivel made the right choice. Free Palestine.

Yeesh. I did read it all because I’m curious how she’s trying to rationalize this stuff and it’s all a bunch of nonsense, victimhood that barely even touches on her reason for lashing out. She says that Macklemore saying Free Palestine and showing images from the genocide (“war”) somehow made her and all the jewish folk attending “scared” or threatened but doesn’t feel like explaining how? Like are we supposed to just be like “what a scary and aggressive guy calling for a free Palestine.”
Then she also brought up some sketch shit Macklemore did a decade ago (that he got reemed for), basically calling him antisemitic without having the courage to do so. Dude if you wanna call him that, say it with you chest, don’t sprinkle in things like it’s some genius explanation. But she’s a coward and trying to act like she’s some honest and tough warrior for the truth. Once again a brutal lack of self awareness from someone who’s begging to be the victim whilst perpetuating a genocide.

I love when people do something and then take issue with your interpretation and acknowledgement of the thing they did, as if they didn't do it and you didn't see it. Then they end their lack of accountability response by dismissively reminding you that people have bigger problems in life.
And by love, I mean it's insufferable and so is she but we knew that already.
