Watching this happen live is probably the funniest shit I've ever seen on the news

Related unrelated I remember sitting in my grandparents house being evacuated by Katrina and the New Orleans mayor called the governor a fat b*tch live on air. It was like 7 am and they cut away so fast but I remember it.

Omg I didn’t see this but GOOD. I remember being only 18 and thinking that Blanco was the most woefully unprepared adult for this kind of situation. Fucking Bush had to hold her hand and be like “so if you just ask, we can declare a state of emergency and help. I just need you to ask”

You can’t be governor, especially somewhere like Louisiana, and NOT have a contingency plan on how you’re gonna react when the weather fucks you. Because the weather is gonna fuck you.

Ugh I know. I will say that Louisiana isn’t known for its stellar political decisions.

Everyone here is conservative because their parents are conservative, and most of them never bother to educate themselves further.

I will say that Louisiana the US isn’t known for its stellar political decisions.

Let's be fair, it's not one state's problem lol

And the same can be said for the next part: people are conservative because their parents were and don’t bother to educate themselves ABOUT ANYTHING.

Were voters aware she had no weather contingency plans?

u/Junior-Captain-8441 3h ago

Of course not. Before the election half the ads, speeches, news stories, and debates said she was more prepared for weather than any politician ever, and the other half says she’s less prepared than any politician ever.

Research beyond the ads and you’ll find dozens of sources that back up whichever side you already fall on. Try and look into the legitimacy of the sources and you’ll find an endless stream of content that parrots whatever you want to believe.

Having lived through multiple hurricanes zipping back and forth over Florida, we knew it was a matter of when, not if, New Orleans was going to devastated by a storm. There is multiple administrations, at multiple levels, who had a hand in creating the conditions this would be much worse than it needed to be. One only has to look at former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin to see how politics work in Louisiana.

God I miss 30 Rock…

As funny as it was, it was iconic, too. He put a spotlight on how pictures of black people doing a thing - looters. Pictures of white people doing a thing - looking for supplies. There was SO much racism in the news coverage of Katrina. Kanye called it out when no one else with his platform had. I wish we'd gotten to keep that version of him.

u/SuperKitties83 8h ago

I rarely see anyone discuss this. He wasn't always a batshit MAGA pile of shit human.

54

u/Kryptosis Find me at Whole Foods, bitch, I don't care 8h ago

Literally everyone misses the old Kanye even Ye

24

u/stomptonesdotcom 5h ago

He was always a pile of shit…. The MAGA thing is new. Him being a major narcissist asshole has been a constant his career.

u/MediatingInstigator 3h ago

I think what’s happening is that people somehow only remember the "openly Nazi era", and somehow they’ve forgotten that he was always a piece of shit before that too.

6

u/MediatingInstigator 6h ago edited 5h ago

Yeah it’s not like he was a rapist POS before or anything 🙄

17

u/blessingsonblessings 4h ago

Believe it or not.. i think theres only one Kanye and we now know more about him and he seems to mimics who he’s around.

At that era he was close to people that were likely, politically left, progressive and his mum was still around

Unfortunately for him, lost his mum, moved further from his close family/friends and got too close to Nazis.

Anyway theres no old Kanye, we were just unaware of his personality

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Me too....except I saw James Brown interviewed on CNN in the 80s about beating his wife and he was coked out of his mind. That beats this slightly.

5

u/SimulatedTime 9h ago

We watched it in homeroom lol

3

u/-wormgirlfriend- 3h ago

this is the first time I've seen this and it is so hard to believe it's real and not an SNL skit

3

u/Stevie-Rae-5 2h ago

The reactions of Mike Myers and Chris Tucker are classic

2

u/MamaPajama1974 11h ago

Same! It was fabulous!

2

u/2JZ1Clutch 4h ago

The funniest part about this to me is that Mike Myers was in an SNL skit with Heather Locklear where it was essentially this exact same happening but on a QVC type channel and Mike Myers played the guy who invented the device. The fact that it then happened in real life with him they're just as always made it doubly funny to me.

Edit: I found it! On Reddit oddly enough. https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/k1fbu0/amazing_time_savers_sorry_about_the_quality/

Mike Meyers' reaction always kills me.
