Chris Rock should have gotten slapped, just like maybe at the after party. Nobody talks about how weird Chris Rock has been towards Jada since the 90s. He was making weird ass jokes about her way back on his HBO show. It wasn't just a one off joke. But you know, it's easier to blame Jada because they had an open relationship.
Yeah afterwards is fair, I felt bad for Questlove and his collaborators who won the documentary award after him having to accept their award in the most awkward moment in award show history.
I watched this happen live and it was surreal. At first I thought it was a strange bit, and the audience there chuckled nervously not knowing if it was a bit, but once Will Smith sat back down and started yelling curses, it became obvious this was real. And then online everyone started sharing the uncensored overseas broadcast clip. And then the next presenter was fuckass Diddy, of all people, who tried to act as statesman smoothing things over. It was such a time.
It’s crazy how fast the slap is and how accurately it connects. Will Smith is an asshole for doing this for sure, but he had like a 1/50 chance of the slap connecting in any kind of a meaningful way and he STILL absolutely nailed it.

I remember staying up late nearly every night that summer driving around to different places and meeting so many people and having an absolute blast.
Living in NYC was insane. Thousands of people meeting up. A micro economy started around one corner of Central Park. Extra food trucks started setting up there. There were people with portable chargers selling access to them. Absolute insanity.
I was there. Sitting around Grand Army on 59th and 5th spinning stops. Someone will yell that there's a Snorlax nearby and then 50 or 60 people get up and book it into the park hoping it doesn't despawn before they got there. There's still a pretty robust player base still in NYC. Bryant Park is a huge meet up spot for events.
I had a Windows phone when the name first released and couldn't play it, but had gotten into it hardcore as a way to get myself walking more a few years before that came out. Was so disappointed. Made the "scan this location" quests make a lot of sense, though...
I was walking around to spots in my town's very quiet downtown, it was late, almost dark, and then a cop pulled up and I thought "wtf I'm just walking around" and then they pulled away, and stopped again, and I realized they were playing it too.
Didn't that turn out to be essentially a massive, private surveillance op. to get video/metadata on places they were restricted from doing so without people using the app?

I don't know the background of why and how it happened but she was absolutely disproportionately vilified and shamed for this. The fact that she is female and black is a huge part of it, which is wild because she was definitely a bigger star than JT at that time.

But this so thoroughly captured the moment that it felt like he literally caught lightning in the bottle and exploded beyond all expectations as a member of Derrick Comedy. That he has not reached the same level of popularity and acclaim since further makes it feel like a fever dream
I enjoy the drag queens making minimal effort to imitate the dance, realizing they look stupid and immediately giving up. If only every white person in America for the next several months had had that realization half as quickly.

The Titan submersible. The jokes, the oxygen countdowns, the fact that the submersible was built with expired airplane parts, an Xbox controller, and a dream. And then we find out it immediately imploded and the countdowns were for nothing.
