This is so dumb but I saw a clip of this guy performing live and it nearly brought me to tears. The audience lost their minds. The energy was different back then.

I feel like I’m going to regret responding to this but:

Special moments still exist. There’s a massive cohort of young people idealizing instant cameras and digital cameras that love the moments our gens had of awkward faces, red eye grimaces, blurry yet joyous captures of action. For every clout-chasing “social disruptor” (for lack of a better phrase rn, bear with me), there are people that are actively fighting for handmade, authentic experiences.

It’s not all broken, I promise. Change starts within people connecting with people.

I miss this. I worked in a state office at the time. On one side of my floor's small cubefarm was the Secretary's office. Perpendicular was our division director. Both exactly who you'd envision addressing legislators and the press and whatnot, in terms of professionalism.

One morning before my coffee had kicked in enough, our typically very focused and reserved director gangnams through the edge row where my unit was. And I don't mean in some halfassed stiff stuffy suit way. In that moment, he was Psy. Suit and all.

Turned out, he just really liked that song. Super unexpected, hilarious, a bit of a fever dream, and oddly wholesome.

Good dude. Fantastic director to work under. Really miss that place and that time period.

It was maybe cringe, but I have such great memories of the summer this song became THE hit in the clubs in my country. The dance floors were full, people were dancing, and then the DJ would put on this song and everyone would kind of get in formation and just dance it together lol. It was great. Same with crank that. I remember we would practice it at home at a pre party before going out 😂
