I remember when I was a kid the Dbacks used to bring kids in to "help" do announcing. (I believe it was called Kid Caster?)

All the kids in my school were huge fans since they had just recently been created.

My best friend lets me know at school "by the way I'm the kid caster tonight I haven't told anyone." (He and his mom apparently filled out some stuff well in advance and they got picked)

The next day he was like a king amongst us peasants because we all saw him in the TV!

A PLAYER picking you up over the fence to throw some pitches? Why be a king when you could be a God?

Fun fact: Did you know Jay Bell's son is the reason the Diamondbacks mascot is a bobcat named "D. Baxter"? 

(For others who may not know - Jay Bell was the starting Shortstop for our inaugural year, as well as our '01 world series)

His son had noticed the nickname of our stadium was "BOB" (Bank One Ballpark), and then he commented to Jay that there are also a lot of bobcats in Arizona... "So why not have a BOBcat as the mascot?"

Start of the next season we had our loveable little fur critter roaming the stands!
