They are! His mom was my French teacher in Bishopstown community school, he has her cheekbones and blue eyes.

Did Cillian clone himself?
He talks – looks – watches – listens – sounds – speaks – even holds himself like his dad.

u/omgzunicorns 2h ago
Yes! Obviously his face is copy + paste of Cillian, but it’s also the same thoughtful pause he takes before he speaks and how he stands. It’s wild!

It’s amazing how all these actors children are able to break into showbiz

u/Middle-Bed-1883 2h ago
They have the bestest bootstraps! It’s gotta be that.
13
u/FrozenBibitte 1h ago
Yep of course! Everyone who’s not rich and famous are just lazy, worthless cretins who should just lay down and worship the feet of celebrities as they walk. It’s only natural, ofc.
/s hoping this isnt needed, but you never know

All these nepo farmers, nepo doctors, nepo shopkeepers... Who knew that a parent being familiar with how to train and apply for jobs would be able to give that advice to their kids gratis? It's like Support In Kind right out the gate, even before you get to favouritism.

u/babylovesbaby secretly gay and the son of fidel castro 1h ago
Is the competition or the desire to become a shopkeeper so intense, though? People who want to be doctors or even farmers still have to study in order to understand their profession. Celebrity children don't necessarily need any experience or education.

Exactly. This is where the dichotomy lies. More often than not, the nepo baby in other industries needs to have had a semblance of education or training in that field or trade to be able to even pass muster. Whereas in showbiz, actual talents never get a chance, while bland (but gorgeous) progenies waltz past the audition to the big screen.
A nepo baby with clear talent will never be derided; OGs from Jane Fonda to Mariska Hargitay to Carrie Fisher have more than earned their place. Same with millenials like Lewis Pullman, John D. Washington, Domnhall Gleeson, and even younger, like Taylor Dearden. The issue, as far as the nepo baby debate goes, has always been nepos with no discernible talent, no attempt at training to at least learn the skill, who also do not believe their connection got them their careers.

Yes thank you. The person you’re responding to is either being intentionally obtuse or just is extremely out of touch.

I love this comment so much. I want to have “nepo farmer” embroidered on throw pillows and give them to relatives at the family reunion

I agree, but also this is a real problem to fix in society. As a parent, I want my kid to be able to work toward what gives him fulfillment. I want that for every kid. It’s most visible in the arts, but where insider knowledge is a barrier, we should be working to fix that in said industries and in education.
16
u/FrozenBibitte 1h ago
This is an obtuse take.
People don’t dislike nepo farmers/small business owners like they do for nepo celebrities for a good reason. For one, nepo celebrities get an easier ticket to excess to wealth for doing a completely inessential service to society. Meanwhile, the overwhelmingly vast majority of farmers and small business owners aren’t swimming in wealth and are actually probably struggling right now. We, as a society, do not worship farmers and small business owners like gods like we do celebrities.
It’s unearned wealth, privilege, and worship that people with “nepobabies” have a problem with.

I think the interesting difference from your examples is that acting is supposed to be an art. It discredits them whenever they say it's challenging and that it takes a certain kind of person. It doesn't. It just takes money and time like everything else. Anyone can be an actor or a singer.

u/wunderl-ck 1h ago
You forgot the /s
Show biz is all about who you know and cashing favours. This is…a truly bad take. Becoming a doctor is about going to MED SCHOOL and doing a residency and passing exams. Although there are 100% favours cashed for children of doctors to cut some corners it is completely different.

u/ameliasophia 1h ago
I’d say even beyond training it has to be that they just already have the contacts.
But you make a good point - I read the other day that children of lawyers are 17 times more likely to become lawyers

What the fuck ever lol Drs don’t get million dollar roles in movies because their dad is so and so. Do you also simp for billionaires? Nonsense

It's just weird to me that nepo babies don't even bother to go to acting school to prove themselves. It's straight into paid work that someone more qualified can't get
16
u/LateFloor3196 2h ago
Actually it’s just a sign of changing of the process of casting these days! Now casting don’t give a fuck about acting schools they either search in art high schools to find another Chalamet

Sometimes, like in cases where the offspring looks / sounds / recalls the parent so much, I kind of get it from a casting perspective. Like let's say you're a casting director and want "a young Cillian Murphy type," or "an Andy McDowell type, but younger and knows how to act" or "someone that looks enough like Cindy Crawford that we can get the vibe, and they can't act but that's OK neither could Cindy."
Is it lazy to just reach for it instead of searching far and wide? Yeah. But I can SEE why it happens. When I'm more flummoxed is when there's no resemblance, no vibe, and no skill. (Richard Gere's son, for example).

I absolutely love Cillian and his son seems to have a lot of similarities. But I must say I didn't expect his children to go down the nepobaby path. I thought we'd never hear of them ever.
He seems very humble just like his dad though. Very cute and it'd be lovely to see them being interviewed together just to see the likeness between them.

Yeah same we never saw their face ever (same goes for his wife, Oscar time was thé only proper time she started doing carpets) and suddenly they are in a show? Ok I guess

To be fair on the whole going "down the nepobaby path", if you're Cillian's kids, you've probably grown up around actors or discussions around actors/acting, I wouldn't be surprised if they just gravitate towards acting because its a profession they have known the most and has made the most impressions on you, sort of like how sons of athlete's go to the same sport their dad played (although I admit in terms of landing roles your parent's contacts will help).

Yeah agreed - one cringe thing millennials do? Worry about whether they’re cringe in the eyes of a younger generation. I am a millennial and I can’t think of a quicker way to put up a barrier in a conversation than to highlight a generational difference.

Even without reading the description my first thought was Cillian Murphy. Then a flash of "no, too young", then the realisation. Even his voice is like his dad's

The future has secured a second Cillian.
People say "they are just like their dad" and be correct. Then there is this young man.... They are more like their father than possibly their father.
