Yeah there was a theory a while ago that her becoming a shade is actually beneficial to the rest since naberius was dying or almost dead and gets to live on in a way while also being a leash on Gold and her wacky experiments
But the way they are setting up the sinners I feel they're going to pull a "they are bad guys but if it wasn't for them it would have been someone else regardless and a cataclysm was inevitable"

Nah, the kid's eyes tell us that the father was from khaenri'ah.
So there are only a few known candidates, the way Ronova cuts the part of the pictuce that should show him, heavily implies that she is the reason he is gone. So i kind of think something along the lines of the dad not being a full-blooded khaenri'an, so he got hit by the curse of wilderness.
That would make her backstory a bit to similar to Clothar's tho, so maybe Ronova outright killed the dad before the curse was even set in place.
Edit: The 3rd descender also died during the archon war that ended 2000 years ago and we know that the cataclysm 500 years ago is her motivation, so it doesn't really add up.

I mean, Genshin has always had a good balance when it comes to their so called “expy’s” with aren’t even that, the archons are mostly loosely inspired by their ‘counterparts’. The designers really do make an effort to make them stand on their own.
I don’t know what anyone was thinking that believed they would make another Elysia, but hey, hopefully those folks are satisfied

Nahh, Furina's design was trashed back then too, personally for me I hated those pigtails she had untied like Ganyu, once the bob cut was revealed I liked much more.
If I had to rank the "Archons" designs It would be like this:
1- Venti - Furina
2- Zhongli - Anastasia (Unless they change it mid-game)
3- Raiden - Nahida
4-Mavuika - Columbina (Bonus)
