A long, long time ago in Snezhnaya, Water Imps dwelled all over the city. Some sang glorious melodies on the stage, while others cheerfully hummed lighthearted tunes through the streets and alleyways. Then there were the others who preferred to slip into the water, where they would lure curious passersby to the water's edge with their haunting, dreamlike songs, only to then suddenly leap up and splash the unsuspecting onlookers full in the face before vanishing, giggling, back beneath the surface with a flick of their tails, leaving their victims floundering between anger and laughter...
But, as time passed, the stages and alleyways of Snezhnaya quietly lost their singers, and the melodies beneath the waters, carried by unseen currents, began flowing soundlessly toward a distant silence. People began to whisper uneasily among themselves, wondering if those haunting songs from the deep might drift away from them forever...
Then, one morning, people learned that Vodyanitsa was still performing on the stage of Korolevskiy Theater, as though the days of old had never faded and the joy of bygone times had remained just as it always had been.
Hardly anyone knew why she stayed — nor did anyone dare ask her to her face, unless they were prepared to never secure another interview with Miss Vodyanitsa ever again.
Maybe, she had stayed on in order not to disappoint the audiences who so adored her singing? Or maybe she was just unwilling to exit that dazzling stage? Or perhaps... there were other reasons significant enough to make her swim against the current, even if it meant bidding farewell to her own kind...
But for Vodyanitsa's audience, delving into the answer to that question is utterly meaningless. The only thing that matters is that they can continue to listen to the captivating voice of the Water Imp.
Of course, if you want to be swept away by her song...
"Standing tickets? Uh, sorry, but we don't sell those here at the theater at the moment... And no, we don't allow our patrons to bring their own chairs either."

She’s a gold fishie as a mythological fish that can fulfill wishes. In Russia for example the most popular version was recorded by Pushkin in his fairy tale in verse“The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish”. And he did use a diminutive there so “fishie” seems appropriate.

You're correct, Piscicula Aurea would essentially translate to "Gold Fish," although Aurea is actually from the word Aureus, not Aurum, which would be more like "Gold-plated Fish" or "Gilded Fish" if I understand my latin correctly!

The fact that she stayed behind after all her loved ones left so that she could keep telling their stories and make sure her people aren’t forgotten is so incredibly heartbreaking. It really sold her as a character for me.

She is bad, sure. But comfy all the same. Sheet impact/dps dummy impact doesnt translate well into actual gameplay.

The bigger issue is that C2 and even C1 Mizuki is also pretty close to Vesna+Vodya teams and that team always has a sustain by default. So she's not a sheet DPS character or a comfort character.

Comfort options don’t last long unfortunately. We’re past the Zhonglis and Kokomi’s, healers / shielders have to bring more than the minimum.
The issue is Vod applies hydro when her kit is designed for Stellar (cryo) reactions.. and for Skirk she’s practically a side grade. It’s like there were 2 competing designs for her and they just mashed them together and called it a day.

There's a reason why sustainless Nefer teams are so playable it's because the only hard content where DPS matters is Stygian and in there if you get hit you just reset so you don't need sustain.
Sure sustainless is tough in Abyss if you're doing all 3 chambers consecutively but who cares about Abyss difficulty it's current year

You dash cancel and IF all the time with nefer. You dont need to use her AA in order to get dews.

Kokomi was buffed on preload to double her Hydro application from off field.
How come nobody mentions Sigewinne? She too is a Hydro healer with quills. Easy synergy with Furina and yet she was for the whales only.
I'm not going to say anything about Vodyanitsa. If she's weak she'll be buffed and if she's good she won't. I'm sure they know what they're doing now compared to three years ago.

Might offend some Sigewinne fans, but she was and is just bad overall. HP scaling on a weapon that had no proper F2P variant with HP not even BP so you had to roll for weapon to even use her properly, her healing was worse than dedicated hydro healer and her damage was worse than sub dps. She requires a lot of investemt to get a worse result than Barbara and she can't even hold TTDS.

I'm her biggest fan but yeah a four star generally outperforms her in almost every way, she's kinda terrible and is the weak link in my teams..but oh my gosh look how cute she is! I even pulled her bow.

Never throw away your favs because of meta!! As much as powercreep has been goingin Genshin it's not like even to this day you need to just use the Top 1 or sink, investment always pays off if you're mindful about it

Unfortunately Yoimiya was never broken enough to last too long as main dps and her constellations are really REALLY bad. The first few just enhances her basically useless ult.
She needs a major overhaul like Qiqi and I'd appriciate a skin as well XD

Yoimiya is also fucked by the garbage bow AA system. I played enough AA Fischl on launch to understand. Your arrows could just whizz by an enemy's shoulder from them running towards you. No surprise we never had another dedicated bow AA character.

It's funny, I came back to the game after two years and saw a bunch of people saying, "At least we don't get characters with bad kits anymore," and that made me happy because a string of characters with great designs and garbage kits was part of what made me quit. And then a couple months later we get Vodya...

Why is Kokomi so frequently brought up as counter points for theorycrafters "getting things wrong"? They were right.
Kokomi WAS REALLY BAD in beta. She had to get a significant application buff to be usable and even then she was decent but never really top of the meta for any notable time period.
Vody is currently not good. If in v3 she gets +10000% to every MV, would that add another example to your collection? Of course everyone (with a brain) understands that a character who is bad now could get giga buffed.

She's BiS for Skirk.
Side grade on stellar swirl. The numbers before the usual v3 changes are just bit lower than current alternative, but she got the sustain on her favor.
For varka from what I've seen, it's BiS for hydro teams, but it's rather underwhelming.

This is kinda crazy given that her SSW quills are ostensibly the same strength as Lauma's, but without the case where Nefer has a fuckton of Reaction DMG diluting them. Does Vesna just have huge MVs? Or is it that she doesn't have off-field teammates to utilize them like Lauma has Columbina?

Weird comment. The leaks subreddit in aggregate has been pretty accurate about character strength for the last 4 years or so with only Raiden being understood incorrectly.
Every single "doomposted" character was in fact accurately understood. Yes, that includes Nicole, Lohen, Varka, Yumemizuki, Sigewinne, Dehya, etc. And calling people like Nicole a sidegrade to Bennett isn't doomposting if that's someone you were considering to use as an example.
This isn't early 2020 Genshin theorycrafting anymore. We have had accurate calcs and sheets for characters for years. The meta in the endgame modes in both EN and CN as uploaded to various sites has reflected what is theorycrafted in this sub.
Unless you are talking about random one off commenters who say things like Flins will be bad. But if that's your argument than literally nothing can ever be discussed about anything since we can always find one rando somewhere commenting something that essentially no one else agrees with.

In Skirk teams she's an upgrade. Not a lot, and maybe even less if you've got some vertical investments into Shenhe/Yelan/Citlali (there's also the factor of replacing Yelan/Citlali in Skirk team so you can field them in another one, so that's always good). So... kinda ok.
In Vesna teams she's a sidegrade right now. She's actually worse than Cryo Traveller but not by that much. You want to field Faruzan and Faruzan+CTrav is better but still, sidegrade. The issue is, CTrav is now C2. When you calculate C6 CTrav he completely blows Vodyanitsa out of the water and she's no longer a character you want to field in Vesna's team.

She's worse than Skirk cons for Skirk team and not a large upgrade to Cryo MC for Stellar Swirl, while also messing up some Stellar Swirl team comp flexibility as she requires more Cryo app to offset her being a Hydro char in a team that doesn't want Hydro app

I feel like with almost every character we always deduce they'll be bad but when they actually release they're meta af. I specifically remember Alhaitham leaks and the way everyone said he's mid. Turned out he'd be one of the strongest DPS of that time.
Only Dehya and Sigewinne turned out to be ACTUALLY bad. Since then, every 5* character released is at least decent.

You feel wrong. It's odd how much this opinion has persisted over the last half decade.
Modern Genshin (basically since Raiden's release) has been VERY well understood by theorycrafters who in turn make videos and in turn this leak subreddit parrots their opinions over and over again. But since the TCs are pretty accurate, this subreddit's overall sentiment is pretty much always right, given at least a bit of time to watch those TC's videos to echo those sentiments.
I specifically remember Alhaitham leaks and the way everyone said he's mid. Turned out he'd be one of the strongest DPS of that time.
For like 1 day after the huge changes to all his multipliers was that the sentiment. Pretty much right after TCs cleared up that his team dps only changed by like 5% and he would still be good. He was a strong DPS because dendro was boosted and there weren't many alternatives to dendro main DPS, which again was understood. Yumemizuki was atrocious for 1.5 years. This sub is pretty accurate about characters.
For example Nicole was said to be mostly a sidegrade for Bennett outside of a couple specific teams, but the QoL can be worth the tradeoff for the smaller buff. This is accurate today.
Varka's non-pyro teams were said to be complete cope and even the pyro ones would require some pretty high investment and prune to make them anywhere close to the top DPS. That was spot on - without his sig, Nicole, Durin, and Prune, he's indeed pretty bad and to compete with something like the lunar shilled ones he needs a 4+ cost team with a c6 four star.
We predicted Lohen was going to be fine but not break any records. Yup, that's how it turned out.
I could go on and on. This sentiment that somehow Genshin is so complex that we can't correctly predict character strength has to die.

She's a small downgrade over c2 mc in vesna teams, and a pretty noticeable one if mc is at c6, she's also pretty bad in skirk teams as you'd rather get c2r1 skirk and c1r1 escoffier before even considering pulling for her there

She's not unusable but she's not necessary for any teams either. Honestly I hope they keep doing this, characters having teams that they're useful in without constantly upgrading teams and pushing power creep feels like a good thing. Of course if they keep power creeping with other characters and she's the only one who doesn't it'll feel bad though.

Depending on who you are it does matter, not everyone plays with the same logic of another. No ones logic is negative if that's how they chose to play.
I like Yoimiya but her and basically every bow character (the ones that use the bow) are pretty lame to play. You could date a blind person and still love them but since there is something that's missing from them it feels bittersweet.
I rather not have that bittersweet feeling when pulling for a character, though I do make some expectations when it comes to their combat animations (Varka, Xiao, and Navia.. kinda).

I guess it depends. If I really like the char, but have literally no place to use them, then I won't pull, because it's kinda pointless since I won't really see/use them anyways... And I'd rather focus on pulling/getting cons for other chars I like.
In case of Vodyanitsa I'm not really decided though. I'll 100% be pulling Vesna, and I like Vodyanitsa, but with her current state I'll most likely rather go for Vesna's wep, if I still have enough pulls for that after I get Vesna.
What was the rumour about the free char btw? Is it basically the "Temper" event lineup? Not even sure who I'd pick if that's somehow ends up being true... Probably will just pick another Yae con or something...

i feel like thats the main reason why i find genshin stingier compared to other games, you definitely have enough to invest in one meta premium team in each entire version, but you dont have enough to invest in a second premium for ur fav that isnt as meta because were finally in the package impact era. not to mention the choice of getting verticals too

unfortuantely yes, there needs to be SOME level of strength for mains to not feel like an idiot for pulling bricks. for example ayaka mains grabbing escoffier, or cyno mains post buff.
varka for all his doomposting still has enough dmg with prune and his sig at the minimum, and his cons are not bad so varka mains feel more worth it pulling his durin and nicole's verticals.
i pulled sigewinne and she heals a lot and has funny bubble, that is an actual niche over many actually bad characters.

It's ~460% dps of value at baseline plus healing. Doesn't require anything special beyond all your direct damage sources being ice or water or stellar swirl, which is a bit more open than most characters these days.
It's not peak slot value, but really what's 5k plus or minus of dps these days...

And Columbina was Luna.4. It's the long awaited Snezhnaya, and final of the seven nations. I imagine they're going to take their time with the story and give it the attention it deserves. 7.4 or maybe even 7.5 seems likely.

I wonder how old Vosyanitsa is since she does mention she was really young during the whole Day Aristocracy leaving Snezhaya (I assume she's a old noble), this would've been like 400-500 years ago when Tsaritsa came into power. We know Vesna is pretty young according to her drip like maybe only 100 years old or less but But Vosyanitsa could be like Sandrone or Columbina age.

Not exactly, she does seem like the "best" option for both Vesna and Skirk teams, it's just that you could run Vesna/Odette/Faruzan/Qiqi and on paper it's only slightly worse than Vesna/Odette/CMC/Vodyanitsa. On Skirk teams she's the clear best 4th slot although maybe not by the margin people want.
There are some "better" Vesna teams on the basis of having no healer/shielder on the team at all, but I don't think that's reasonable.
People are saying it's a problem that you could get a bigger damage increase for these teams by not getting her and instead getting a good constellation or weapon on someone else, which is valid but I think it's also reasonable to think that having a healer who shreds and buffs, and maybe is enjoyable to play, is valuable for one's account beyond a direct comparison in terms of vertical "cost."

Sorry if this is wicked atupid but is there really no chance we’ll get stellar freeze to make her make more sense?? We weren’t 100% sure of lunar crystallize before it happened so maybe it gets enabled by a new upcoming five star the same way it went with zibai
