i mostly use clorinde for lunar charged bineffa wheelchair nowadays, no c6 iansan or chev, and i dont plan on getting nefer until much later but i do have c0 lauma if that counts for anything

What should I go for in the new selector? My options are (New) Baizhu, Childe, or Clorinde (I have her r1), c2 nilou, c1 r1 Varesa, or c2 Chiori. I’m leaning more towards Clorinde cause she’s cool or c2 Nilou

I didn't expect anything in genshin anniversary and I didn't get disappointed nor impressed. After playing this game for years it's a lot of things has been a constant. In game wise whenever we log in the Chinese new year event will usually feel more like an anniversary like and give out almost equal rewards. A slow trickle of qol improvement (if there is one). Rewards remain the same which is whatever, im perplexed about the limited character selection, just chuck in everyone but the archons and last 2 year characters really, as if owning an ayaka, hu tao, navia and etc. will actually affect their sales numbers or meta. I'm happy for the people that want those characters but it feel like a pity gift more than anything to be honest with how they handled it.

Scratch that, I'm actually impressed that they went this long where the anniversary feels like it's a just normal patch but slightly better in terms of rewards. All these years it always feels that the liyue festival is the actual anniversary of genshin specially in game.

i'll be honest, i am selenic chronicles number 1 hater, so the news that snezhnaya is forcing a similar system with the tsaritsa annoys me greatly

reputation quests used to take like 10 mins tops, had a proper weekly reset, and was a useful source of income for mora only to get gutted and then completely replaced by these stupid 20 min long dates quests with a character i do not give a single shit about

if they really wanted to introduce such a system they should have made it a separate thing instead of having it replace my lovely lovely reputation quests :((

anyway i still havent done a single selenic chronicle and never will unless they finally add a skip button

with temper thyself and the limited selector, i'll be able to get chiori to c5! yay! getting one copy on chronicled (she is never getting a proper rerun unfortunately) is much more palatable than the potential THREE i was considering last year. i'm a little annoyed that the two 4.x characters they chose for the selector also happen to be two of the ones i invested most heavily into (chiori and clorinde) but we can't have everything. hope that people start to see how good clorinde is now though with c1 being free/c2 being free if you pulled c0

i wasn't expecting anything at all, so i'm pretty happy with the limited selector even if i would have preferred a few other additions to choose from (no eula???). i just hope people won't be annoying about aggressively recommending ONLY varesa even if the account doesn't have c6 iansan/chevy just because the same one TC youtuber is biased, most of the others do have genuinely good use cases

I'm glad, getting something extra for spending seems nice but imo adding spending events just helps these devs make topping up seem even more desirable, then they start putting more shit to spend on in the game and that's how you end up with paid buffs for characters

Also Genshin doesn't even really do anniversary characters the way Star Rail or Zenless do, and archons already get more than enough special treatment, I don't reall think we need those extra animations either

It's a little bittersweet but at least they're adding to the backgrounds of the Harbingers that got killed off before Snezhnaya, it helps with the worldbuilding and it's what I wanted to see in the region. I hope we get to go inside Glupov at some point and see more of the little mark they left behind

In just two updates we're finding out Capitano entrusted his troops to Childe, set up a policy to provide for family members of Fatui soldiers who die in the line of duty, sat in a counseling room with one of his old students who gave him the trinkets that make up the Scarlet Proof artifact set (and then gave the quill to Childe), trained Vesna and Danica, and his image is used for Fatui recruitment posters or some shit, he really is the goat, I'll always be sad as fuck that he wasn't made playable 😔

I love chiori and plan on picking her. But I don’t really have a team. The only geo characters I play are Xilonen (who will probably be useless in mono hep anyway), Noelle, and Linnea. I do have Bina for a very shoddy lunar team, would that work?

Lunar is definitely Chiori's best archetype, though you'd also want Linnea of Xilonen as you'd have 3x geo with Linnea, who's BiS. A tad scuffed without Zibai (the release is obviously trying to get people to get multiple Lunar teams so they're holding at least 2 bags), but it'll work. Idk who the best driver would be though. Chiori should almost certainly not drive as her off-field mode is so much better until C6.

Yeah actually it can work picking Chiori - since u already have Linnea + Columbina as the Lunar-crystalize core; Chiori will always have two dolls present on the field (the Lunar-crystalize turrets counts as Geo Constructs)

Noelle can be used as the on-field Lunar-crystalize enabler (she can wield Night Sky set for this; tho if u already have a busted Husk set u can remain with that) - another budget option for that role would be Ningguang (also can wield Night Sky set)

My three main teams are Flins premium, Zibai premium, and Mavuika premium (also building mizuki ssw team)

I don't see a real reason to pick Varesa and make mavuika the sub dps/support, don't need Chiori/Nilou, and I don't have chevy nor durin for Clorinde. I'm not joking when I say the character that has available teammates in my account is Tart, and that would be the national team lmaooo

Pick the character of whatever element you have the least options for in IT. Nilou > Childe for hydro, Varesa > Chlorinde for electro

It’s a shame that the strongest unit in the selector, and the one with exploration utility, is a character I hate. It’s shooting myself in the foot to get Chlorinde instead of Varesa when they’re both in identical roles, but I simply don’t like Varesa 😔

Personally, I think exploration utilities are overrated so, if a character only has that going on for them on my account, they are an easy skip if I don't like them.

It's easier to miss the less obvious things when you're busy zooming all over the map instead of taking your time going around and fully taking in the scenery (but that's just me).

Even at C2 his app is low enough he doesn't meaningfully interfere in most teams. If you're resorting to off-meta teams just to play him, then you can play him okay in basically anything. You can wheelchair him in stellar teams just fine, for example. He won't really be doing much, but he won't really be doing much anywhere.

• 7.1 AQ is looking a bit similar to Luna 2 (6.1) by story beats in the best way possible (getting to know the Archon early, Khaenri’ah flashback sequence, teaming up w/ Dain to beat the Cataclysm-relevant boss, etc.)
• Traveler finally has their Snezhnaya title and it’s “Consultant” lol. I suspect we’ll get a “promotion” later on, but it’s a suitably mysterious title to go by if not.
• Traveler and Pierro both relying on ELECTRO of all elements against Ronova has my Raiden alarm sounding off yet again (as has been the case since we entered Snezhnaya).
• The Moonchase story preview looked suspiciously dry considering we’re not getting any new characters either. Hmmm. Love that event weapons have returned.
• Hoyo seems to be a lot more spoilery the last few livestreams. I’m not mad at it.
• I get that it’s probably just a first and last Archon thing, but having Tsaritsa and Venti directly interacting in both artworks was a choice lol.
• Not a fan of the limited chara selector but wasn’t expecting anything more than this and will gladly take a C1 Nilou I guess.
• Was not expecting that emotional attack near the end of the stream with Nick Wolfhard (Lohen’s VA).
• Gonna refrain from commenting on Rhinedottir until everything’s over. I feel like I’m seeing where her story and depiction is about to go and a large subset of the fanbase will hate it even though it’s been laid out decently well over the years.

However, I don't think that's reasonable justification for blocking the free limited character behind 7.1 AQ bc it would force a semi-new player, say someone in fontaine or sumeru, to either rush through the story or get spoiled. If it wasn't limited to a single patch it would be different, but since it is... Idk I think the usual completion barrier of Liyue AQ or whatever would be better.

Prydwen stuffs means WAY LESS in GI because their actual endgame contents can be cleared with T5 characters to get ALL primogems for real.

Sure you pick Childe, he is T5 bum sure and 6 years old unit but if you happen to have modern supports he still can clear floor 12 abyss by looking handsome at C0R0 and also definetely still can beat any imaginarium theatre and stygian level 3. There you go...he brings you all primogems. The "real hard content" which is Stygian 4 and above doesnt rewards you gacha currencies and you can back the fuck off as soon as you get 450 primos from Stygian 3.

Unlike neighboring game, Imagine if you picks E0 Jingyuan in anniversary and not even Mortenax + Summerbin combo could make him anywhere near clearing endgame
