It's not just the English translation. The subtitles of all other languages including simplified Chinese uses masculine pronouns for Phanes. It could still be a mistranstaltion since traditional Chinese uses "it".
Yea I agree. Since Hoyo is pretty careful when it comes to stuff like these. They had to re upload Sandrone's animated short because of a small dialogue change. So I doubt they'll let this pass unnoticed.
Kevin wasn't seen by most as a villain, but as someone who needed saving from himself first and foremost. In death, he finally reunited with his loved ones, as the game itself shows when he accepts that Kiana and her group can save the world from the Honkai and its destruction. So in the end, he did win, both in shedding the burden of being a "hero" and in helping his world.
