May all victims rest in peace, and may all families find comfort and healing. We will never forget.

It was an odd feeling seeing those two in the sky again. As an American, we look for them in every older picture or movie.

23

u/Different-Subject353 14h ago

They are in opening of Sex and the City, they also appear in Saturday Night Fever.

u/Sebasland 1d ago

En que momento han pasado 25 años? Wao

41

u/Old_Soc 1d ago

Started exactly 25 years ago.

5

u/chadhindsley 19h ago

And ended exactly today

5

u/EarlyXplorerStuds209 16h ago

Big if true

-1

u/chadhindsley 12h ago

One more hour til it's 25 years and one hour. Where has it gone

75

u/artytank 1d ago

It's like seeing the old world again.

Honestly amazing.

17

u/Normal_Truck_6363 15h ago

It really does evoke such strong emotions. It's a powerful reminder of what happened and the lives affected.

30

u/tylersdaddy 19h ago

I'm sure that sight brought a lot of people to tears

28

u/diabolicalroadrash 23h ago

I wonder if this caused any accidents with people driving. Imagine driving across the Brooklyn bridge and out of no where the Twin Towers appear in their full size after 25 years

6

u/Bigbanghead 7h ago

It'd be worse at the end as the drones start coming back down

10

u/Cautious_Boat_999 23h ago

Incredibly well done

9

u/legarth 1d ago

Thats awesome.

9

u/ItsAllOnUHF 23h ago

Wow, that's really nicely done.

7

u/Witty-Entertainer524 20h ago

This shook me.

5

u/MolaMolaMania 20h ago

I would like to see a more complete video of the launch and the entire program.

The double helix is a really nice touch, and I would like to know how that was integrated into the presentation.

6

u/-Mr_Tub- 23h ago

Wow is that to scale?

9

u/Rose0367 14h ago

They are the actual dimensions. Appearing larger when they are in the foreground.

-1

u/FullofContradictions 23h ago

Yeah - I don't think they were really that tall, were they?

Super cool either way, I'm just trying to wrap my head around whether they were actually so dominant in the skyline.

8

u/LocoRocoo 9h ago

They were. Just go look at photos. They were the tallest buildings in the world for sometime

0

u/FullofContradictions 3h ago

I have seen the photos. They were tall, but some of these shots look over 2x the height of everything else. I don't think that's right.

3

u/-Mr_Tub- 23h ago

I think it’s partially where the drones are being launched from that makes it look so big compared to the rest

9

u/Fabulous_Log844 1d ago

Pretty amazing. Does anyone know why they did this several nights ago instead of on 911 itself?

-9

u/roastedmarshmellows 1d ago

Drones don’t show up well in daylight?

18

u/Fabulous_Log844 1d ago

I guess I should reframe my question. Why wasn't it last night or most logically TONIGHT? Why was this on the evening of September 9 and not tonight?

14

u/ExtraCartographer707 23h ago

Could be a weather thing.

1

u/Fabulous_Log844 23h ago

FINALLY, someone answering with some logic and brains. That makes sense. Thank you. That is a possibility.

4

u/Rose0367 14h ago

It wasn’t the weather, always planned for the evening of the ninth

-9

u/roastedmarshmellows 23h ago

You couldn’t come up with “weather, maybe?” on your own? Dude…….

4

u/Fabulous_Log844 23h ago

No, dude, that's why I asked the question. 🙄

Yes. Not knowing about drone technology and asking a question when I'm completely anonymous… Boy oh boy is my face red. 🙄

Blocking the mouth breathing troll with one tooth in three, two…

2

u/iuseallthebandwidth 13h ago

Turns out it snot the weather thing. Booking airspace and jumping thru all the FAA hurdles is a real thing, and they didn’t want to overshadow the official, solemn 9-11 stuff on the day by making it a “show”. There was going to be a lot of stuff happening in the airspace between the 10th and 11th. So adding 2500 odd additional things in the sky wasn’t bueno at that time. Hence doing it on the 9th worked as an opening pre-show which didn’t stress the system too much.

Not as simple as “weather” but then simple things never are.

2

u/ExtraCartographer707 23h ago

Obviously not. I’m on some pretty high level shit my man. Just watch, I’ll solve world hunger next.

-5

u/roastedmarshmellows 23h ago

Hey man, you do you... my comment wasn't directed at you, no need to get your knickers in a twist.

5

u/ExtraCartographer707 23h ago

I was just screwing around lol. My knickers remain untwisted. Based on your username I thought you’d be more….mellow?

-1

u/roastedmarshmellows 23h ago

I was much more mellow 12 years ago when I made this account. Now I'm simply a jaded 40-something disappointed by the lack of critical thought on display from the Internet's Finest*

6

u/PurpleCandles 22h ago

Most likely that was when the FAA gave permission. That airspace is highly regulated due to congestion.

1

u/Eggnogcheesecake 9h ago

Maybe a security issue. I mean, if you allow 3 thousand drones to put on a display on the actual day, it would be harder for Homeland Security to detect a drone that shouldn’t be there.

-18

u/HeavyMusic93 1d ago

Who cares?

15

u/Fabulous_Log844 23h ago

Literally the person that posed this question… Me.

(I never will understand when someone asks a question and some mouth breather says "who cares" and they literally have the person right in front of them pointing out who cares.)

-13

u/HeavyMusic93 23h ago

You’re calling me a mouth breather but you’re seething over nothing. Classic.

10

u/Fabulous_Log844 23h ago

Who's seething? I made a calm interrogative statement inquiring what was the logic behind what night they had this.

You know, there are a lot of decaffeinated coffees on the market that taste just as good as regular coffee.

-12

u/HeavyMusic93 23h ago

If you really wanted an answer.. you’d pick up the phone, make a phone call and ask. Instead you do this.

4

u/Fabulous_Log844 23h ago

What the hell are you talking about? Blocking the one tooth mouth breathing troll in three, two…

5

u/espresso_martini__ 1d ago

Thats amazing

4

u/Rose0367 14h ago

They are the actual dimensions, appearing larger since the drone display was over the harbor, therefore closer to the camera than buildings in background.

5

u/bluesunset90 12h ago

The fact that George Bush was in bed with Isr*el to intentionally cause this has been hard to shake. Almost 3k Americans died and we've been hating Muslims for the last 25 years because we were lied to and killed Osama Bin Laden for something he didn't have any hand in

2

u/Willow_Bug2 10h ago

My dad was going to be on a tour on 9/11 but it was not touring hours. For everyone that has died on that day you will be remembered in my heart. I am glad my dad was not there but I still will remember every soul lost in the tragedy.

2

u/roosoh 6h ago

This is odd

4

u/Voice_of_Season 15h ago

I miss that New York.

7

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 13h ago

Yeah... I visited NY once . And actually stood on one roof of one of the towers. I still have the WTC brochure they gave me . It said: 'The closest some of us will ever get to heaven'

4

u/Voice_of_Season 13h ago

It reminds me of the “it’s hard to be down when you’re up, up on top of the world” adverts for the observatory. I’m so glad you got to enjoy it. Wish we could again.

2

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 12h ago

Thanks, that was in 1984. If only I had taken more pictures! Sadly it was long before the days of cameras in phones.. actually... I think the cell phone was only just invented

3

u/Double_Height_9087 1d ago

On another note, the drone show is spiderman -mysterio stuff ...

2

u/SunshineAndRainbowsO 18h ago

This is beautiful

u/assumptioncookie 23h ago

Now do a million drones in Iraq in the shapes of all destroyed buildings commemorating the victims of the "war on terror"

2

u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 17h ago edited 17h ago

Maybe don't blow up 2,000 civilians and kill maybe 2,000 more via poisoning from the collapse and then expect the people your country victimized to honor your country

Iraq has every right to put up a monument

1

u/assumptioncookie 5h ago

Iraq did 9/11? I always thought Bin Laden was Saudi Arabian and living in Afghanistan/Pakistan.

0

u/XSpaartanX 23h ago

Palestine would fill the sky

-1

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 14h ago

They wouldn't use drones though... jusr rockets

-8

u/cordialmess 23h ago

that's where my head went too.

-4

u/Temujin15 21h ago

An appropriate tribute to America. Hollow, meaningless and ultimately an illusion.

Spent twenty five years denying healthcare to the victims of the tragedy you're pretending to mourn. To say nothing of the dead in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine etc who apparently matter even less for

14

u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 17h ago edited 17h ago

You have a problem with NYC commemorating 9/11? Holy selective empathy batman

4

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 14h ago

Temujin15... there are times where, when you got nothing good to say , its ok to keep quiet. September 11 is one.

For all the terrible faults of America, its very unlikely any of the people who died that day 25 years ago were in any way responsible for the bulk of them.

-10

u/R1G5LY 19h ago

Reddit is pretty America-centric so it's no surprise you're being downvoted.

Its much easier to point towards a tragic event from 25 years ago and stay in the victim role instead of tackling real issues costing a lot more then 3000 people their life.

14

u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 17h ago

You don't have to be america-centric to think it's uber shitty to put people down for a memorial in a city from a mass murder of thousands in that city only 25 years ago

-5

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 13h ago

Fucking A. Funny enough, I clearly recall seeing videos of the people of Iran standing in solidarity with the USA on that day...while the Palestinians were cheering.

1

u/Upsidedowncr0w 8h ago

This wouldn't work as well if only like 200 peope died 😬

1

u/GraybieTheBlueGirl 7h ago

Knowing this drone company, they would do it to scale. They were the tallest buildings back then.

1

u/ravnhjarta 6h ago

It isn't only about the immeasurable pain of loss and vulnerability we have been inflicted with. It is also about the reflection of how times were just before. Times were so, so very different prior. Just was they were pre-covid. May each soul rest in peace, families and friends, witnesses and beyond.

1

u/PickleGreat654 3h ago

This was genuinely moving. I have a lot of feelings about how we (the US) responded and how the last 25 years have gone, but this is a great use of current technology to honor the human lives lost.

1

u/RevolutionaryOne5905 2h ago

May all the victims rest in peace ❤️❤️❤️

u/ChampionshipBulky66 4m ago

Shouldn’t it be +900k? Or even 3.6kk from “complications”?

1

u/Gullenecro 1d ago

impressive!

1

u/Federal_Bridge_3695 21h ago

Beautiful ❤️

-1

u/pinbacktheband 14h ago

It was an inside job

-7

u/Sensitive_Buffalo665 21h ago

We should also do the same for millions of people died due to wars caused by this

-1

u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 17h ago edited 17h ago

Maybe don't blow up 2,000 civilians and kill maybe 2,000 more via poisoning from the collapse and then expect the people your country victimized to honor your country

Other nations have every right to put up monuments of their own

-8

u/Sensitive_Buffalo665 17h ago

How did you arrive at that conclusion sherlock..let me see. Your brilliant reasoning is "that millions of people are responsible for deaths of 2000 people" is education really that hard?

Other nations have every right to put up monuments of their own

They aren't able to.. because hypocritical country made it completely war torn and collapsed them

2

u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 17h ago

I edited to "your country" since I agree it's not everyone individually who was responsible or victimized

But anyway, it's natural to assume that mass murder of thousands of civilians - intentionally as terrorism, not even as collateral damage - will escalate into a larger war. That's ABSOLUTELY the expected outcome if you decide to bomb thousands of civilians, or kill them in a music festival for that matter.

Mass murder of civilians means escalation against you.

they aren't able to

The idea that Iraq can not have a monument is frankly ridiculous. They aren't in the stone age. You can make a monument that doesn't cost billions.

2

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 13h ago

You aren't wrong... but to be honest I would hope Iraq would spend the money doing things to help its people more. Nothing against remembering tne dead, as long as its not taking away from helping the living..

-1

u/Sensitive_Buffalo665 17h ago edited 17h ago

So, your reasoning is that all that million people deserved it because they messed with the blind eagle? Escalation is ok when your country does it? Also fyi buddy, your own intelligence reports concluded Iraq had absolutely NO connection to the terrorist attacks.

Also, justifying escalation where millions died despite no link to the attack is shameless, when y'all preach humanity.when you don't have one.

You can only justify escalation if the response is an "adequate amount of force that dismantles terrorist infra and networks"not otherwise.

Edit: good try sneaking in your country

kill them in a music festival for that matter. Escalation.

Only this deserves rightful escalation. Not yours

1

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 13h ago

No. Don't blame all the worlds problems on one country. (If Trump was it power then.m its have been tempted to go along with you however....)

I use to think America was slightly better than other countries... now I realize that deep down they aren't any different to the rest. I don't mean that other countries are evil as such...its just that they all look out for their own self interest above all else. And most countries eventually get nasty leaders who only look out for themselves, fuck anyone else, even in.their own country or elsewhere. Its sad, but true.

0

u/Utahsaint366 18h ago

Not enough drones in the world.

0

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 13h ago

You do it then.

1

u/Sensitive_Buffalo665 13h ago

Oh, I see. "Hypocritical empathy." It's only for us, not for them."

-1

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 12h ago

Boss, I not even an American. Proudly not, I might add. Lol

-1

u/Far_Hornet_5364 17h ago

6 million drones?!? Whaaaaa

0

u/MouseRangers 20h ago

placement outline

0

u/exor0110 15h ago

That is so incredible.

0

u/Emergency-Spite897 15h ago

That is impressive and amazing work

-35

u/juvy5000 1d ago

drones suck.

5

u/No_Stable_110 1d ago

Fireworks junkie

3

u/MTBSoja 1d ago

I think they are a ridiculous and depressing replacement for fireworks but I think they did a good job here.

13

u/zigzag1239 1d ago

Ah fireworks are more of a celebration thing in my opinion of course. Don't have to agree with me but we're mourning not celebrating. That said as nice as this looks it freaks me out about how many drones there were. Not a drone fan

15

u/MTBSoja 1d ago

Yeah! Fireworks would be tone deaf here.

0

u/Hefty-Reaction-3028 17h ago

Useless comment
