Out of curiosity, do you still suffer from the tremors or are they gone now?

You don’t need luck. It sounds like you already fought your way back with perseverance, determination, and passion for what you do. You already hit it out of the park.

But good luck all the same! I sincerely hope this goes great in every way for you.

Fellow artist and big admirer of your art work here… congratulations on your triumph over medical adversity. My goodness, the DARKS you get in the work!

u/emilycopeland 19h ago

Only possible with charcoal! <3

Thank you for noticing me

u/Pantagruel-Johnson 18h ago

As an artist I have always been fascinated with depicting The Object, which is, of course, limiting. Your work is inspiring.

Congratulations, OP!

Just a random Redditor stopping by to say how proud I am of you for working so hard to get back to where you are today. I know it couldn’t have been easy for you. You’re tremendously talented and you’re going to do great. Wishing you the best of luck, even though you don’t need it! 🫂

Kind of a vague issue, but def happy she’s recovered from whatever it was. She has a rare talent.

9

u/MirielTheTortoise 17h ago edited 17h ago

Something doesn’t add up here. She been consistently posting art for at least 2 years, but the post says that she couldn’t draw for years after an incident 3 years ago?

Edit: after further research, it does seem like she is lying lol. She has a comment from almost 2 years ago saying how she has been making art for 50 hours per week for 11 years. No previous mention in any of her history about some illness that made her unable to make art for years. Plus, the timelines don’t seem to add up from her post and comment history. Hopefully she is telling the truth but it would also be an inspirational lie that would give her a lot of attention

5

u/Recent_Fact480 16h ago

Yeah super confusing. If you look at her Instagram. She’s posting every year, there’s no gap like she says in the post.

And if you check out her website, she’s doing gallery exhibits every year as well.

Maybe she had a small, short term injury.

But framing it this way, like it was some serious life altering thing for years is pretty disingenuous.

Using people’s empathy as a method of garnering attention is one of the things I can’t stand the most in our society

3

u/MirielTheTortoise 16h ago

Gotta get those upvotes somehow! Lol this is just sad

5

u/OldManGrimm 15h ago

And that phrase, "full body tremors", doesn't mean anything specific at all. I understand if someone doesn't want to disclose details about a medical condition to strangers. But it adds to the "something fucky is going on here" vibe.

5

u/just_looking2274 20h ago

Idk what led to your hospitalization but I truly believe there are no coincidences. Perhaps you “needed” to figure out what matters most and this incident forced you to choose. Whatever the circumstances, I sincerely wish your choices lead you to your happiness. Your gift is beyond the beyond and I believe, is meant to be shared. Good luck with all of it

Congratulations. I left schools after ET got too bad, but with large drawing monitors I can scale up an eye to a 16-24" screen. It gave me so much back. Love that you found a way to do it on a massive sheet.

My ex boyfriend had cut my thumb with glass and then bit off my thumb later while it was still injured because I was a professional illustrator and he was jealously intimidated and wanted me to need him for stupid household tasks like opening jars because of lack of other skills. I can’t open containers anymore and it’s been years and it’s still severed and cannot draw as well. Will it ever heal and can I still get surgery for it or is it too late? I never reported the incident or never went to the hospital, continued to work and wrapped it up myself, but the nerve was completely severed and damaged twice with glass too. Is there any way to heal a severed thumb after years? It’s still very numb constantly and slightly painful when touched/no feeling at all, and it’s been many years. Will I ever be able to draw like I used to?

8

u/Justha-Tip 20h ago

I feel like this might be something to speak to a doctor and the police about

-4

u/Important-Onion1537 20h ago edited 20h ago

It’s been at least 4 years and I didn’t want to pay the doctors cost as I didn’t have enough money at the time or be involved with police because they’re terrifying and I had ptsd. I went to a specialized hand doctor years later and paid 2.5k for the appointment with no real advice/actions or surgical procedures. SOO UPSET. Is there any possible way to get it back to normal? It says that surgery was supposed to be done when the injury first happened so it could heal properly, after years can they still recover it?

3

u/OldManGrimm 20h ago

The hand specialist would be the one to tell you that. Your chances are greatly decreased by having waited so long, though. If you’re here in the US, you’re also looking at a ton of cash for surgeries/therapies.

More importantly, I hope you’re no longer with Hannibal Lecter.
