I learnt this summer that Marmots making this sound is where Whistler mountain in BC Canada got it's name!

Be careful around marmots, they like to steal your stuff.

I had a friend take of their boots at a destination and a marmot ran off with one of them. Had to hike back 6 miles with one boot.
