If The Boys (which ive admittedly never actually seen) has taught me anything (it hasnt) then I know Jimmy made the right choice... that kryptonian coochie probably got enough grip to rip his little Jimmy off and keep holding onto the stump until he dies of blood loss...

That's a thing? In the boys?

u/Fearior 13h ago
I remember there being female super hero with ice powers that (unintentionally) froze their partner penis - so I guess so.

Well, Popclaw was getting eaten out and well... She orgasmed too hard and popped her partner's head like a grape.

Yeah but she's a bum. By this logic Superman would have crushed Lois when he came inside of her

u/Possible_Living 12h ago
The trope "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex" is named after this train of thought which in turn is named after 1969 essay of the same name. Which inspired many a work including a comedy book Sex Lives of Superheroes by Diana McCallum which admittedly was not very funny.
It boils down to how much "realism" you want to apply. Watching "No Ordinary Family" was the first time I realized how many unofficial secondary "powers" one would need to support some of the most famous powers.

18
u/No_Technology7110 13h ago
The boys has a drug in it that can basically juice hero powers and make them way stronger, also makes the hero somewhat uncontrollable, like a high. In the first season, Popclaw, A Train's girlfriend, is pissed because he didn't announce their relationship on live TV after he wins the race of the century.
She juices up and invites the landlord in to fuck him, while he's eating her out (she's sitting on his face) she starts squeezing/pushing down too hard, leading to him being unable to breathe. By the time she has orgasmed, his head has been smushed.
4
u/kensho28 10h ago
a thing... in the boys...
Yes, there is a very long list of reprehensible and unthinkable things that have been in the boys. I remember when the show first came out, I (having read the comics beforehand) knew immediately that the public was not ready for the amount of genital and anus gore that would be required to be true to source material.
Luckily for all of human society, they decided to tone it down a great deal for the TV show.
Garth Ennis is a deranged abscess on the collective human psyche and everything he makes is golden.

I mean I knew that The Boys did have some...general eye raising scenes, I just didn't think death by fucking a girl was an actual thing in the series, if anything I expected it to be more of a death by guy thing due to the Sausage Soviet Guy
7
u/kensho28 9h ago edited 8h ago
An unborn superpowered child eats its way out of the mother, killing her, before being beaten to death with a lamp by the horrified main character.
Black Noir EATS A BABY because the world is crazy and we need to control the guy that could kill us all.
They also brutally murder a group of disabled "heroes" at some point, but trust me, every one of those sick bastards deserved what they got.
The comic is brutally offensive, but it's not without reason. It's a commentary on the types of social violence we allow to exist and the way they would be answered if we didn't.

There's a panel where Homelander blows his partner to smithereeens with bullet sperm.
14
u/IsoSly64 12h ago
No No No, that's just a misconception. In The Boys universe they are hardly ever taught to control their powers, which is what leads to thoes accidents. In anyother universe with poweres that almost never happens.

u/PokemonSoldier 12h ago
So, a Kryptonian power rarely explained is their bioelectric aura. Basically, it is the reason Superman can catch someone while moving so fast or hold large, heavy objects without going through them: he extends his enhanced durability to them, protecting them. Meaning yes, during procreation they'd be safe.
7
u/Electronic_Loan_8802 11h ago
Legit question, is this a voluntary thing he does?
I'm imagining that would make all of his fist fights a lot harder if not...

It is completely voluntary, he can turn it off and fly through pretty much anything he wants at any time.

As someone who never watched through the show, how could anyone muster the will to reject her. Is he gay or something? Honestly not sure that would be enough. Does he have no sense of attraction at all? How is it possible?
13
u/AdApprehensive168 13h ago
My post was more of a joke but he does actually have a good reason to reject her, being that Kara doesn't have much general life experience.
With the fact that she lived under the abuse of Primus Brainiac who had her live under a strict, ultramilitarized, fascist life and forced to wipe out planets and species alike, and she barely got to interact with people or even find her own interests.
Again, it was more of a joke on how Jimmy didn't let her down right, kept stringing her, and now when he's ready to date her, he gets rejected.
20
u/Aggravating_Fold1154 13h ago
It's typically comic book writers that are incompetent at writing romance without it being cringe. It's always one problem after the other, drama for the sake of drama.
6
u/MagnetMod 12h ago
This aren't comic book writers tho. Those poor bastards have Editorial to deal with because Editorial wants to maintain the Status Quo. If it was up to the writers every team would be a Polygamy of some kind. But they have to write contrive drama to keep their bosses happy.
But even then. In the comics Jimmy Olsen will bang anything with a pair of breas that shows interest. Bro doesn't care. Human? Alien? Bug? Ghost? Bro is on it with candles, flowers, and a cheesy movie.
But this are TV Show writers who were given free reign to do whatever the hell they wanted. And they decided to take away Jimmy biggest Ws from him.

No he is just an actual dumbass. He doesn't realize her infatuation with him is THAT serious, and is basically in the mindset of 'eh, everyone looks around, it'll be fine', and he is literally turning down the most powerful woman in the universe, a 9 or 10 out of 10 baddie, because he is trying to be a ladies man (and in the end, right when he is about to take it serious... she friendzones him).

is this gonna be a "razor blades in halloween candy" thing where it happened once ever
5
u/Important-Mine9281 6h ago
Iirc the poison in Halloween candy thing wasn't actually a case of stranger danger. He poisoned his own son to collect on life insurance; the other kids who he gave the candy to (though they never ate it) were just so he could claim it must've been a neighbourhood killer passing out poisoned candy. I.e. giving poison to random kids was collateral damage rather than the primary goal.
This in contrast to the semen thing where it just strictly was what people were afraid of. Iirc there have been 10+ incidents where a fertility doctor swapped out the donor sperm for their own and fathered dozens or potentially hundreds of children. And bear in mind, these are just the cases we know of. There are probably far more who just slipped in a few samples and never got caught, or are operating in countries where it is less likely for people to check their DNA.
8
u/kensho28 8h ago
It's a pretty specific situation, unlike Halloween.
I'm not saying most people have to worry about it, but if you care about the parentage of your planned child you might want to make sure of the source of sperm.

u/ZenkaiZ 7h ago

They are hermaphrodites and can reproduce asexually. Jabba in particular impregnated himself to have Rotta.
Granted that was canon until Disney the fake progressive they are retcon that out of canon, because they cowards who appeal to the right well pretending to support progressive politics.
To add in the old Canon Jabba identifies as masculine except when he wanted to have Rotta which is when he was female but went back to male.

u/Guardian_of_Perineum 13h ago
Though let's be honest, it would be significantly lower effort for them if we are just talking procreation.
5
u/mewkopawz 13h ago
fr like its a one and done thing, not a 9 month long experience. thats why the fucking weirdo scientists who wanted to try cross breeding monkeys and humans originally tried with female monkeys.
2
u/Gabemino 11h ago
Also artificial insemination is far too easy of a procedure, so a man wouldn't even need to do the deed in order to 'help' a woman that wants/needs to procreate for whatever reason.
Unrelated but it also applies to fictional apocalyptic scenarios in which most of a human sex disappears, unless something actively damaged the male DNA in general, in the scenario on which men are the one endangered group, the survivors wouldn't need to do anything at all, there are enough sperm banks to produce a whole new generation without issues of lack of genetic diversity, the opposite scenario however would be a nightmare in different levels.

I should've worded it better, obviously it's moral, and people can willingly choose to end their own species if they chose so, I just overestimated how many people watched MAWS
5
u/Heretical_Burger 13h ago
But at the cost of the species dying out? Nobody said they’re machines but isn’t it immoral to intentionally let your people die out?
6
u/mdtpdsparkls 13h ago
I mean would it be her species if she had kids with a human? That'd be a whole new thing like a Mule or a Liger, and with no other Kryptonians those hybrid kids would eventually have kids with other humans, until eventually the Kryptonian dna isn't even noticeable.

Ok, first things first, I haven't seen more than maybe 2 scenes from this entire series (nor have I read any of the comics) so forgive any lack of context I'll have when I say this, but her species is doomed to die out no matter if/who she f*cks.
Her procreating with a human would not save her species, since if she and her offspring only mate with non-kryptonians, the Kryptonian genes would dilute with each passing generation and eventually go exinct.
And even if you don't go that route and instead try to keep the bloodline pure, there are like what, 5 kryptonians left? Eventually inbreeding would have to happen and I hope I don't have to explain why that wouldn't work in the long run.
In both scenarios, we'd just kicking the can down the road.
6
u/flokingaround 12h ago
The post is kinda misrepresenting the rationale for Jimmy rejecting Supergirl.
In this series, Supergirl and Jimmy have a strong friendship and mutual feelings for one another. However, because Supergirl spent most of her childhood being an unwilling child soldier to Brainiac, she is very naive about the world (which manifests in her being very autistically coded).
Supergirl expressing her desire to mate with Jimmy is mutually understood as her way of asking him to go out with her. However, Jimmy chooses to turn her down since he feels (quite correctly) that she is still recovering from the child soldier indoctrination and needs to learn more about the world and herself first.
The thing that got fans frustrated is that when Supergirl started going speed dating (her way of testing the field, while still fully expecting to choose Jimmy at the end), Jimmy wasn't able to emotionally handle it in a mature manner. Which led to a speed dating cold war, which left both parties not particularly happy.

Not immoral to refuse to help. Nobody is under obligation to do anything. It would be immoral however to interfere with the procreation and survival of a rare and almost extinct species.
3
u/f0o0oo00o0o0d 12h ago
The real question we oughta be asking is "Morality of screwing over a fan favourite character for no good fucking reason just because you think they have it 'too good' and can't write better drama?"

3
u/SJ1Productions 10h ago
I mean, while Jimmy is the biggest fumbler in recent years, I will admit, it's not like Kara's the very only last Kryptonian left in the Universe, we still got Clark and his relationship with Lois, and we know they'll be flourishing for a long time. That said, even Peter Parker would be impressed at how bad Jimmy fumbled with Kara.
5
u/WizardlyPandabear 13h ago
Kara has no shortage of options. Totally moral. If Jimmy isn't interested (because he is likely in the closet still, let's be real), then she should let it go.
2
u/No-Dress7292 13h ago
I am just curious. Reproductive organs are muscles too, right? And hers is incredibly strong too - incredibly strong. If it clenches, does it have the power to crush your penis into a mushed banana? Maybe that's what he is fearing.

2
2
2
u/Wodahs1982 12h ago

2
2
u/SilabusR2 12h ago
eh its a little odd. if they actually fell for each other then moral. if shes forcing it then immoral. from there you also need to look at logistics. two people caint save a speices. they can stave it off for a generation but you need about 1k active participants to come back from extinction unless their genetics are insanely diffrent. from ther you need to ask of procreation is even possible (assuming jonathan kent isnt born at this time.)

Neutral. Divorced from MAwS, I have no obligation in the propagation of any spcies. If the species in question has issues or no known weaknesses, it'd be in my best interest to stay in my lane, no Lois. However, in the case of Kara, Jimmy's fumble is legendary. Mf had the ball in front of the end zone unguarded and still dropped the ball. He's also not interested in her to spread the kyrptonian seed, but because he lioes her. Your question is kinda divorced from what actually happened.
If near extinction is an issue, you'd need to do a lot of fucking, AND child raising to pump those numbers.
2
2
2
u/gojiwookies 11h ago
I want to be her best friend. But I don't want to be her breeding partner. Unless Jimmy keeps fumbling the fucking ball then i shall seal my own fate but even then I'd rather not.
Also with how kara puts it yeah it seems moral to Jimmy to say no. Plus clark and lois do have 1-2 kids (I DESPERATELY WANT TO WATCH THE SHOW BUT IM HAVING TECHNICAL ISSUES 😭) so Jimmy not is questionably immoral. Id say immoral if in general but for Jimmy and kara? Yeah no if jimmy can't catch there's round 4 billion other men me included but I'd rather be a friend.

I’m not sure. Like if you don’t wanna have sex with them then that’s fine. It’s your choice. But if you wanna help, you can just donate your sperm or something
2
u/Pezington12 10h ago
Immoral. Because he did actually want her but was just to scared to trust her decision and actually be with her. He wanted too, she wanted too he just dropped his spaghetti at the front door. It wasn’t even cowardice, his decision however well meaning was made on the assumption that Kara wasn’t able to make that choice yet because she hadn’t been free to explore earth for long enough. But that’s not for him to decide. She’s an adult, and if she wanted somebody else she’d do so. But noooo flamebird had to make the decision for her.
Side tangent. I’m actually writing a MAWS episode for my half hour comedy spec class. And I’m choosing to write an episode where Kara and Jimmy actually do get together (after Kara justifiably gives jimmy some shit for his nonsense last season). I’ll post it to the MaWS subreddit when I’m done with it so I can see what they think.

Way too many incorrect assumptions going on in the comments from folks who haven't even watched the show.
Supergirl wanted to get together with Jimmy after developing feelings for him in the prior season. And since her cousin (Superman) and Lois was doing so well in their relationship she wanted something similar to their happiness after only having a psychopathic machine for a father throughout most of her life.
While Jimmy also has feelings for her he felt unworthy since he was just an average guy compared to her and since he was literally the first person she ever interacted with. So he pushed her away to find someone better rather than risk trying to be together and assuming that it wouldn't last.
The post made it seem she was basically out looking for a "donor" to have kids with when in fact such things has never been brought up. At the most she simply swaps term for spouse/partner as mate, which was also said by Superman's father so it's just a Kryptonian way of saying it. And was excited to meet Superman's son from the future mentioning how their species will continue on.

3
u/Guardian_of_Perineum 13h ago
Well you could if you are willing to put up with some genetic conditions along the way. But you could just eugenics them out as they appear.... ya'know just practically speaking. Though at a certain point I guess the more determinative point is whether kryptonian DNA dilutes or not. Viltrimites could do it.

Immoral, cutting off the future prospects of your species in favor of your own preference isn’t very good. Never watched that show so not drawing from it.
5
u/JustInItForTheCats 12h ago
You'd need to draw an objective reasoning as to why the future of the species is in your responsibility. Logically that doesn't quite follow. If the species made chocies that collectively caused their self destruction. The individual responsibility accumulated was the chance they had while they were alive.

u/mdtpdsparkls 13h ago
So would it be immoral for anybody to not have kids since they're cutting off the future prospects of their possible descendants?

u/AuroraAustralis0 13h ago
No because in our world, our population is large enough that any individual choosing not to reproduce won’t have a measurable impact on the survival of our species. It’s only when you get to millions of people making that choice where you run into a problem, but even then you cannot blame any particular individual for the overall trend.

u/Michahyu 12h ago
I feel like at that point, if you’re the only person left of your species, you just might as well live your life the way you want it. You shouldn’t let yourself feel responsible for an entire species’ future, even that’s a heavy burden on a human. It’s just me though, I don’t want to spend my life being a procreation machine if I was the last human.

Morally neutral. I will also pass the controller along. I don't like playing games I'm not interested in.

Clark and Kara, is two people really enough to repopulate an entire species?

Jimmy fumbled so hard with Kara. I understand he might feel insecure, but hos bs was so stupid and I'm glad that Kara called him out.
The dude is like "I thought you wanted to be my friend" when she asked him DIRECTLY to be his mate.
Even Kara called him out but in a different way by saying "how can you be my friend when you're not there when I need you the moat" which... yeah, she's not wrong.
Then jimmy goes and say "I didn't know how you feel" like she was being secretive when... she wasn't. She's always been upfront. She even called some of his gifts "tokens of affection". She's practically a walking flag that screams "date me! Date me!" How blunt does a woman have to fucking be?
Even then Kara said it better. He didn't bother asking. If you can't understand someone, then try asking them about their feelings. Don't dick around and try to play the victim about not being able to understand when there's a thing called basic communication.
It's hard, I get it, but how the fuck else are you going to solve conflicts?

If there is a season four, Jimmy needs to lock the fuck in, all I’m going to say now, cause Kara put him in the doghouse

Moral.
Being a rare species doesn't take away either person's right to consent. No matter which person is the rare species, they don't have a right to mate with you if you do not want to.

Consent is consent.
BUT... it's Kara... THAT Kara... it is immoral for that man to fumble that shit.

I guess if its YOUR species and youre one of the last ones, i dont think its immoral to let it die if thats your choice. Pretty much already extinct at that point, so who cares. If the universe is still functioning then it didnt need that species too badly anyway. Too much pressure for one or 2 people to hold the weight of their entire species on their shoulders. Just see what happens, but dont make it your responsibility to repopulate the universe.
If i was the last human, and i knew there were alien races, i wouldnt think of us as a super important species to the grand scheme of the universe that NEEDS to continue. Might be a bad example because humans suck, but you get the point

If there are less than 50 members of the species they are already extinct anyway so it would make no difference.

Let’s talk about what defines a civilization.
Is it the species or the culture?
The species is almost dead and the culture most definitely. Kal was a baby when he was sent to Earth. Human culture is his culture. Kara has not shown anyone any integral part of kryptonian culture.
If both Kal and Kara were to have children(not with each other). Just apply basic genetics and the kryptonian genes will eventually be reduced to insignificance. Even if there were more kryptonians, without their culture, they are simply superpowered humans.
All in all, the only good that these two having children will do is to give earth more super powered defenders.

The way Jimmy went about it makes him the dumbest pos imaginable. Granted sure he wanted her to be sure of her selection and to look at other fish in the ocean, but she wanted him. He turned a moral deflection into an immoral manipulative act. The fumble of a life time.
Brain so smooth, they used it for curling.

While I understand it's a choice, there's a very inherent advantage for Earth specifically since the continuation of her species does a lot of very long term good for their world. There's an element of there being no guarantee as to their offsprings being nurtured into an altruistic person. There's no telling what a long term diluting of either species will do for the other either
However, if the reasoning for the refusal of procreation that results in the end of a species is just shyness where an artificial problem caused by forced lack of proper communication, it's just not a good enough reason
I think the worst case example I can think of for this scenario is the manga series World End Harem. One of the few remaining guys on Earth refuses to procreate on the off-chance his not even girlfriend childhood friend is alive decades after a large portion of humans have died out. However, if that's the end of the reasoning, there's room for debate, but the other forced justification for this plot direction is on this idea that this freshly graduated male high school student could figure out how to find the cure for a virus that the entire female population of Earth couldn't get together to figure out for decades. Cultivating the end of a species on hubris cannot be moral.

The probability of Jimmy constantly fumbling yet not failing must be a key component to the Anti-Life Equation...

I mean it was his choice to make but I am *baffled* that he made it.
Jimmy Fumblebird, indeed.

I don’t understand why this matters. Why is a certain species naturally becoming extinct a bad thing? (Ok well it wasn’t natural but I don’t think we’re arguing that krypton blowing up was bad or not, that’s obviously a tragedy. But we’re talking about the present circumstances in which it is now naturally going extinct through the last remaining survivors being unlikely to produce enough off spring to remake their society)
I think Kara should obviously have a right to her culture and have the choice to continue it if she would like to, but why is it others’ moral responsibility to sacrifice their resources to see it continue? Idk I just don’t think species or races generally have intrinsic value and the only thing I really care about is individuals getting to live freely and happily.

Neutral, it's a choice.
However, if Jimmy fumblebird isn't playing, pass the controller
