5k is too cheapskate; should demand at least 10k!

Even if the money was real do they not understand it is already their money he is offering them? Your bully has been taking your lunch money all year and now they'll give you $10 if you vote for them.

Stalin and the plucked chicken basically. Who kept eating the measly food it got.

This should not be getting media attention/promotion without the appropriate editorial comment to highlight how bullshit it is. Community notes shouldn't be doing heavy lifting on the media's behalf.
The media, when it uncritically reports Trump's bullshit, is complicit in this and should be ashamed.

Any media with integrity would be telling people straight up that he's lying, that he's done this before and no checks have ever materialized. Because he's lying.

Every article I've seen has been skeptical at best, with most outright critical.

Agreed, but the amount of sane-washing that's happening is ridiculous, as if it's a serious policy proposal. NYT actually went to the extent of calling it a stimulus, a serious word which even Trump never used. To be sure, they did say it's unlikely to happen ever.

5k to every adult us citizen is not a stimulus it's an inflationary bomb. They lying

u/DTM-shift 1d ago
On top of the inflation that has the Fed putting serious consideration into bumping up the fund rate. Of course, our clueless President is working against that.

"I love the inflation!"

it's also unlikely to happen because the GOP is going to get their asses handed to them.

In this particular case I think most of the media assumes that were smart enough to know how ridiculous it is. It's newsworthy because it's so stupid not because it's a real promise

What's crazy is, even if they pulled this off and gave everyone 10k, that would not put most of the population any closer to being able to afford a house.

Wasnât Elon out there giving like a million a vote? The toddler traitor is a cheapskate as usual.
As an aside Iâll vote red for 50 million up front and 2 million in perpetuity transferable for infinite generations, and none of my family or I can ever be investigated by the IRS.

Itâs not real.

u/venkym 1d ago
It's such a blatant lie / misdirection that I'm mad at the media for reporting it as is and even analyzing feasibility. As if it makes sense that he can just announce it. NYT actually called it STIMULUS (even Trump didn't use that word) !!! Such idiotic sane-washing!

u/DramaticStability 1d ago
This! It was something he said deep into a 2+ hour speech and would have gone unnoticed were it not for the gushing reporting that acted like this were both possible and something heâd actually do. Even the critical reporting still talked about it as if it was remotely possible.

He's lied about sending out cheques (tarrif dividends (illegal tax), dodge 'savings' etc) over his second term to a total of $13000 per adult now. It's never happening that would be $3.51 trillion.

Massie is probably the only redeeming Republican, which is a pretty low bar, as the only thing he does I like is hate pedophiles.

that virtue should be universal in a perfect world, but here we are...

u/Ordinary_Camel_3456 1d ago
He should show us heâs good for it by sending $2500 right now

u/everythingbeeps 1d ago
That would cover half of the DOGE check he already promised over a year ago.

Trump has promised multiple checks to people (DOGE, tariff refunds, etc.) that have never come close to materializing.
They're not real. He has proven time and again he will say literally anything.

So now we have fallen so far that the President of the United States offering to use the taxpayers own money to bribe them to vote Republican does not even surprise us. A primer in how to secure a dictatorship, he clearly understands how easily money overrides morality.

Crazy enough the act of even offering the $5K is illegal, let alone actually doing it. But, you know, we gave the MF immunity from everything

We didnât give him jack shit

đ I hear you. Just reminding folks that that âimmunityâ needs to be challenged at every step bc the whole âofficial actâ is overly vague on purpose. We should learn from the right and never consider law or judgement, or precedent as settled and use that horrible ruling and the overturn or Roe as a rallying point. One tactic I believe would be to constantly question and harass that ruling, to insist that there must be some limit and find it, rather than just surrendering and conceding that bc a ruling is vague that it must mean that itâs also total and absolute. At the very least this type of legal probing keeps the question alive in the body politic and exposes the the utter insanity of the ruling class. When Trump loses a ruling he just goes ahead and does what he wants or acts dumb and tries again in a slightly edited way and forces the issue to be adjudicated over and over. In that process he usually succeeds in prying open enough wiggle room to exploit the system or steal a bit more or wait for a new more favorable ruling. Force them to answer for their sins.

I can picture it now, I want to send the American Voters $5k like I promised, but the Deep State won't let me! In two weeks I will take the case to the Supreme Court!
Two weeks later ...crickets...
