For the record, the USA has a low cost of living compared to Canada. Every time I hear about how low your fuel and eggs prices are I have to turn my head twice.

Hmm local areas are gonna differ of course. In general we pay more by volumn. Big part of that seems to be taxes but before taxes out base cost seems to be a little higher anyway.
