It's been pointed out that our girl has had different hair colors in each of her five nominated performances. Platinum blonde in Birdman, red in La La Land, dirty blonde in The Favourite, black in Poor Things, and light brown in Bugonia (before going bald for the rest of the movie).

Variety have updated their predictions for the Oscar’s, the main takeaway is the inclusion of “you can see everything” for best picture. And a \[redacted\] name for supporting actress.

Interesting that variety have faith in “you can see everything”. But personally I’m 50/50 on whether the Oscar’s would be receptive to a documentary style movie like this. I think it’s unlikely to get a nom for best picture and the initial reaction is a bit over the top.

There Will Be Blood and My Left Foot are among his absolute best and both won him Oscars.

The movie only getting 5 nominations and 1 win is a joke. If this movie was released today, it would have been nominated for much more and would have won Score as well.

What’s the reason of it not getting any Oscar nominations for Picture/Director as well?

I mean look at Project Hail Mary, it could be nominated for much more, but it’s definitely not Interstellar level.

I watched The Wolf Of Wall Street for the first time. OMG it was incredible and crazy. What a great film. Leonardo DiCaprio did a powerhouse and outstanding performance for playing Jordan Belfort. He should’ve won a first Oscar for that. He deserved it. It’s one my favorite movies. Martin Scorsese did an excellent directing. I’m glad i watched it.

How is Rooney Mara Supporting when she's the main lead? The movie follows her, not Carol (Cate Blanchett). Blanchett as Supporting made more sense.

United 93 (2006)

It was nominated for the Oscar for the prestigious awards of Best Director, and Best Film Editing

In addition to this, back in 2006, only 5 films were eligible to receive a Best Picture nomination, United 93 is cited by many experts in retrospect as on the short-list of films that would have probably received a Best Picture nomination that year had the Academy nominated 10 films as they do nowadays.

For me, I'm picking animated film, hands down. At least we do have animated films that were nominated for Best Picture in the past.

Seeing as my post asking for your picks for the biggest fashion faux pauxs at past ceremonies did as well as it did, I decided "Let's do that again!" But a lot more positive this time.

What is some Oscar drip that you can get behind?

• Nicole Kidman at the 74th Oscars
• Marcia Gay Harden at the 73rd Oscars
• Scarlett Johansson looked like a princess at the 77th Oscars
• Anne Hathaway at the 81st Oscars (Now THIS is an Oscar look. I agree with a comment on the other post, her drip when she actually won for Les Mis really wasn't all that.)
• From the same ceremony as Hathaway, Angelina Jolie
• Jessica Chastain at the 84th Oscars
• Mikey Madison at the 98th Oscars (This is way better than what she wore when she won the previous year. Why couldn't this have been her winning dress and hairstyle?)

I'll admit I have never seen these films, but to celebrate my 700th film watched (which is gonna be A History of Violence), I decided that tomorrow I'll marathon these films (directors cuts!)

What are your guys thought on these movies?

I saw the movie and I don't understand why Annette Bening got nominated for this. First, it's not a lead role. The movie focuses more on Julianne Moore's character. Second, while Bening is very good (she can't give a bad performance even if she tried "wink" In Dreams "wink"), the character is a one-dimensional caricature: loud, controlling, masculine, hostile towards men. It was as if the director decided to put every negative lesbian stereotype in this woman so that her partner's heterosexual affair is deemed forgivable.

I think there were other movies Bening could have been nominated for: 20th Century Women, Film Stars Die in Liverpool, Mother and Child....etc.

*It was technically nominated for Best Sound Mixing but Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing are now the same category and I like to treat it like if it was the Best Sound category unless I have no choice
