PoliticalTea 🗳️ This is why they’re scared of Talarico:

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here is a clip from the James Talarico interview that has the GOP so scared (again) they used the FCC to threaten Kimmel (just like they did with Colbert) into not showing it on broadcast airwaves.

Anyone who is even remotely religious needs to watch this, despite your political affiliation, because his message is incredibly important:

“The kind of religion that says you can treat people however you want as long as you have a personal relationship with Jesus is an abomination, it is a cancer on the body of Christ.”

u/Impossible-Rain7447 1d ago

Pls also see if you can donate to senator warnock. He’s fighting with his life to keep his seat

9

u/OldRain5261 1d ago

I supported warnock in his first campaigns! but he is running in 2028..

4

u/Impossible-Rain7447 1d ago

Thanks for correction. For some reason I thought osoff and he had the same term

I don't appreciate his stance on trans rights, I don't see him as a Mamdani at all. I am in Texas and will vote for him, but I'm not happy about it. He is a proud capitalist. Despite having a pro abortion stance, I don't particularly want a strongly religious person who is studying to be a pastor as my representation. I guess he is the best we can do for now, we need someone more centrist to win over the republican voters, but he is far from being at Bernie Sanders or Mayor Mamdani's level.

Edit: I am trans in Texas and started this comment by saying I will be voting for him. I am allowed to not like a candidate who does not support my rights and complain about them while also accepting it is the best option I have. Y'all can try being trans in Texas before telling me I'm nitpicking.

Edit 2: Y’all take your negative energy to non voters and republicans. Stop telling me having expectations is why Trump is in office- your in fighting is why. I don’t want a Democratic MAGA where we blindly follow our leaders and defend every single stance, you shouldn’t either. Y’alls inability to have nuanced discussions and speak civilly with EVEN PEOPLE WHO ARE ON YOUR SIDE is why democrats have a bad reputation. I can hope for a candidate to fight for me, damn.

Ah the democratic base- “I would’ve voted for the guy who kisses babies but I didn’t like his stance on mustard. So I voted for the guy who rapes babies instead. Seems like it made more sense.”

7

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I literally said I am voting for him. Ah, the average reddit commenter- "I have no reading comprehension and just want to argue over the guy we are glazing this week. Man I like can't have any objectively wrong takes"

What an immensely stupid thing to reply to someone who admitted that this is the best we can do for now, let alone comparing refusing to support trans people to a stance on mustard. The problem with the democratic base, just like the problem with the rest of society, is that very stupid people such as yourself will continue loudly throwing out utterly moronic comments with no regard for their lack of intelligence.

2

u/NegativeHerons 15h ago

If it doesn't make your skin boil when you see mustard trying to play ketchup's sports, then I have nothing to say to you. Got made TWO condiments.

-1

u/donglecollector 1d ago

You’re an idiot who doesn’t understand hyperbole for the sake of demonstrating how easy it is to fracture democratic voters. Trans rights pro life. Mustard. Who gives a fuck? Politicians don’t like you. Stop.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 20h ago

I have a feeling most people don't like you irl and this is your release. Seek therapy.

2

u/KeySeriously 22h ago

I hear you and agree with you, it just sucks knowing that every politician I like/support is super willing to throw me under the bus, without hesitation. Don't get me wrong, I still think Talarico is a great candidate, and the much much MUCH better choice over Paxton, but it's still a huge bummer.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 20h ago

I don't know why this is such a hard pill for leftists to swallow. Throwing any minority under the bus does not bode well for all of us in the future. Today it is trans people, but in a more right leaning future it is gays and people of color. Project 2025 is right on track, while the left is becoming more centrist and celebrating. I can vote democratic and know that my vote means something, but that doesn't change that I am not disappointed with my reps. I encourage everyone to vote always, these tiny changes add up over time! It's reactionist the responses I am getting for pointing that out though.

7

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I said I am voting for him, I just don't like how he went on Fox News to speak negatively about trans people. I am trans in Texas and would like to be represented by people who support my rights. I'm pretty annoyed by people telling me how great someone who does not support me is.

10

u/Big_Tap_1561 1d ago

At least you realize it’s the lesser of two evils. I’m a staunch atheist and I will support this guy to no end because it’s the best we have gotten so far.

4

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I support any democratic candidate in Texas no matter what, but as individuals- no. I will not support him to no end but I will support him through this election. I hold my representatives accountable, what he does once in office will be a different story. I have lived in areas with representatives who switch parties once elected, I don't trust politicians at all.

0

u/HucknRoll 21h ago

The way he talks about religion makes me want to be religious again. (All the fake Christians pushed me away)

4

u/EqualOpening6557 1d ago edited 1d ago

Reality is imperfect my friend. If you want those things, you have to start somewhere. Don’t lose motivation simply because the very next step isn’t perfect— we can’t go from awful to amazing in one step. Get excited you have someone who will do 80% of what you want this time around, it IS a huge step closer to your goal.

I don’t agree with 100% of Mamdani, El-Sayed, AOC, and Talarico say. It doesn’t bother me though. 100% agreement isn’t a real option, so 80% IS ideal— it IS best choice.

Republicans will put up with anything in their candidates while we knock our own people down for not being perfect.. it is our biggest weakness. And they know it.

In fact your comment is either from them, or you are spreading EXACTLY the message they want you to.

4

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I am saying I will vote for him, I still encourage people to vote for him. Democrats and Leftists acting like we can't criticize our choices because of right leaning commentary are ridiculous. I am not Chappel Roan-ing this situation. I have stated in my comment that I do think he is the best chance we have, but I have also experienced a candidate I voted for going red after taking office. I don't trust any politician and one that goes on Fox News to disparage trans people is going to get a side eye.

0

u/No-Builder-1038 1d ago

No one is acting like you can’t criticize the candidates here

2

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

The downvotes are lol

1

u/No-Builder-1038 1d ago

That isn’t telling you that you can’t that is just people not agreeing with your comment

2

u/ShimmeryShay 1d ago

To be fair, your initial comment starts off pretty similarly to a lot of bots that comment similar comments to try and sow distrust and confusion to keep people that are on the fence from voting for him! The number of people who don’t vote at all because they found one thing they dislike about a candidate is far too high, especially among more progressive voters.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

Bots use human conversation as a learning model for their interactions, so it makes sense. I will always vote and encourage everyone around me to vote. I still support him but I deserve my Mamdani, Talarico aint that.

1

u/UnrealCraterCreator 1d ago

Consider the political climate he’s running in. If he has to go on Fox News and say some stuff in order to flip Texas, it’s a worthy gambit. Criticize him after he wins, but until then, support him and blast the ghouls he’s running against.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 20h ago

Por que no los dos?

2

u/BigEgoTinyWeener 19h ago

Being critical of your preferred candidate before they have won lowers their chances of winning, even by just a little, making it more likely for the much worse candidate to take office.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 18h ago

I do not think that my rational take is stronger than foreign propaganda, AI, and bots. My support of Talarico and other democrats in MY region (I am fighting a lot of obviously not Texans) is doing a lot more than this weirdly controversial comment I left. I ACTUALLY VOTE. I won't silence myself in hopes that it will better serve my candidate. I have hope in the Democratic Party that it will one day understand nuance and fight for my rights rather than trying to appeal to a larger swath of voters by throwing me under the bus. Trans rights are human rights and I have to assume they don't concern anyone disagreeing with what I said.

13

u/Castr8orr 1d ago

The problem is that it's Texas, there's no way someone like Mamdani would have any hope.

The fact that he is religious is the bridge gap that is needed there. Baby steps.

3

u/One-Gas-4041 1d ago

This. People don't realize that statements like the one that was made  are exactly how we got Trump in the first place.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

It was poor poll attendance actually.

0

u/One-Gas-4041 1d ago

And what CAUSED that poor poll performance? (You are so close!)

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

Definitely not my valid criticism of my candidates while working for them, actively campaigning for them and encouraging everyone around me to vote.

I don’t want a democratic version of MAGA, I’m not calling for anyone to be cancelled or shunned. I am not reducing voter turnout by having expectations.

1

u/One-Gas-4041 23h ago

And that criticism can go a long way during the primaries as you are attempting to shape the candidate that you want. It also goes a long way after they are elected and the way that you choose to lobby them. What it does during the election is make it sound like a candidate that is just as bad as the other guy that no one should vote for.

Also, if you actually helped out like you claimed, you would already know this.

Give it time. He cannot get into a position to show the world how ok it is to be trans without getting elected first.

This is the only shot you have for representation. He is playing the game republicans have for their agenda.

Only talk about what gets real votes and save the small stuff (big to you, I know) for when they are tenured in office. We all have MUCH bigger problems and priorities are what are lacking in the dem leadership.

Pelosi ain’t your friend, Schumer ain’t your friend, Jeffries ain’t your friend. You are a trinket for them to pretend they are doing anything for you. Mandani can be open about his left policies in nyc. Texas is a different playbook.

Keep on keeping on. You have us. Don’t forget that.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I appreciate your comment, and I don’t disagree. This issue is personal to me so it is more in my foreground. I have a lot of other issues with Texas that he addresses in a way that makes me hopeful.  I do hope for the best, I just know we deserve more. I wish people would stop acting like Talarico is so unproblematic and amazing. He has my vote, but he is still a politician and it’s important to question those guys.

2

u/annabelleoftheball 23h ago

Much love to you. I know how frustrating it is when something is so personal and so scary. I'm sorry you have to deal with all the bullshit this administration is spewing. Many more of us support you than don't, the others are just loud. *hugs*

9

u/RadiantBeeees 1d ago

Politics is a bus, not an Uber.

Get the guy closest to your views and vote for them. If you want a perfect candidate you should run for office yourself!

6

u/tankerkiller125real 1d ago

Ideally we would have ranked choice voting so that you could in fact vote for your favorite candidate that actually aligns with your beliefs, while also voting for backup candidates if your preferred one doesn't win.

But until then, grab the best candidate available that has a chance at winning.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 18h ago

As I said in my reply to the initial comment- I am voting for him, but as a trans person in Texas- I don't agree with all of his views. As a trans person in Texas, I would never win and would be putting a target on my back if I ran for office. I upvoted you because ranked choice is the best way to go about this. Talarico would be my first choice, so I don't understand the argument under what I said. I still wouldn't rank if I ran.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I said I am voting for him, but as a trans person in Texas- I don't agree with all of his views. As a trans person in Texas, I would never win and would be putting a target on my back if I ran for office.

2

u/DefinitelyNotIndie 1d ago

Making actual progressive economic changes is obviously great but even with not knowing any of his comments on trans people I was watching this with a sharp edge of "why are we back at another Jesus off?" I mean, i know why, but still, I fully agree with you. And I'm as cis-het as they come.

2

u/Outrageous_Zebra_221 19h ago

It was bad for me when it was Hillary, I was going to vote for her, I did vote for her, but any less than absolutely positive thing i said about her got me hit with I'm a sexist.

I essentially just stopped engaging with other people in my party for awhile. Never really left the party as I just can't stomach the other side and their positions, but basically being shut out of airing your legitimate concerns by the bs is tiring at best.

2

u/Little-Blackberry755 19h ago

Thank you. The Democratic Party is not beating the accusations any time soon. Cancel culture, performative allyship, virtue signaling- I hate talking to other leftists atp because we aren't allowed to disagree on anything without it being labeled as dissent and disloyalty to the party or oppressive speech. I am the fourth generation of feminists in my family and saw Gloria Steinem lecture in person in middle school. I can still dislike Elizabeth Warren changing parties and trying to get my vote after her parents lost their fortune. I can still question Pelosi doing insider trading. Being a Bernie Bro doesn't make me a misogynist, I'm not voting third party in any election. That would be a waste and contribute to republicans agendas.

Democrats are so quick to cannibalize rather than focus on the main topic. WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE. I wish they would stop acting like MAGA brained idiots who must protect their dear leader. We CAN critique people who are not yet in power and hope/expect more out of them. My opinions are not the reason people don't vote. Being dissatisfied isn't enough to stop me from voting, I didn't undereducated your dumbass kids or let them get addicted to social media that spreads foreign governments propaganda telling them not to vote. I have a feeling a lot of the people complaining under this have never even worked a campaign.

3

u/AV_Dude_Safety1St 1d ago

Perhaps I missed something. I did hear him walk half a step back, but he couched his concern about trans in sports by saying only if there was a safety concern. I support trans rights 100% but he is moderating his language because unfortunately the general public still has a lot of concerns about trans girls playing sports with cis girls. .

2

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

I don't disagree with you, he is not the worst and does not seem to want to directly harm trans individuals. I do get the feeling he is trying to appeal to a larger swath of voters with his precise language but it isolates others. As a trans person who lives in Texas, I really want and deserve someone explicitly fighting for my rights to represent me. Watching non-Texans on the internet glazing this guy as the next Bernie or Mamdani rubs me the wrong way because he is not that extreme of a leftist. In Europe this guy would be a centrist. Yes- it is refreshing to see someone attempt to hold the rich accountable and I will be voting for him. He is still pro capitalism, and spews anti trans rhetoric. I am still allowed to point out he is not the unproblematic and the "super socialist" candidate the internet is making him out to be.

3

u/AV_Dude_Safety1St 1d ago

Agreed. He is no Mamdani. Or Abdul. There are half a dozen Senators that I am more aligned with. But for Texas, compared to the alternative he is a million times better. He will at least respect trans rights to exist, and I think the specifics of the sports needs to be worked out. But I like the way Abdul approached it, ‘not the Senates role to dictate high school sports policy.’

1

u/JCarnageSimRacing 1d ago

WTF are we still arguing about trans folks in sports? Is this something that is so pressing that we need to have all our politicians draw a line in the sand and determine what side they're on?

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 19h ago

Sorry, as a trans athlete it means something to me, I forgot I don't exist to people like you. I should stop advocating for my rights and wanting more for the future generations /s

→ More replies (2)

0

u/AV_Dude_Safety1St 1d ago

100000% agree. It is all the Republicans want to talk about. I was saying politicians should take Abdul’s tactic of deflecting and takking about affordability and healthcare.

0

u/gerbilshower 23h ago

it is on purpose. take an 'issue' that effect 0.01% of the population and blow it up as big as possible and then take the 'logical' side of the argument and paint your opposition as 'radical'. its MAGA 101. but really, its been going on for hundreds of years.

5

u/dansssssss 1d ago

Idk why you're downvoted. All you did was address serious concerns about poltician you're voting

People shouldn't be glazing this man

3

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

We shouldn't glaze anyone- celebs or public officials. Holding our representation accountable is our civic duty, as much as showing up to polls. Creating pedestals for anyone is dangerous. I didn't love Hillary but I still voted for her. I will always perform my civic duty, my country comes before myself as an individual. Downvoters would be surprised to find out I was rejected from the Navy for medical reasons but I still worked for United Way for years. I am an activist who puts their money where my mouth is. I have worked for numerous democratic candidates that I don't fully agree with! It's important to have expectations- democrats need to stop acting like MAGA 2.0 with their blind support of any candidate who claims to be leftist.

1

u/EqualOpening6557 1d ago

Then you go ahead and spread your message that directly weakens your BEST candidate possible, seeing as you said a trans supporter will not be possible in Texas. Republicans never shoot down their top guy, this exact thing is our biggest weakness, and they know it.

Like a spearhead on the battlefield, you provide the opening for them to press into.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

Because republicans don't hold anyone accountable, we also shouldn't? So we should MAGA 2.0 the Democratic Party? That is how we will fix everything, huh?

1

u/Conninxloo 1d ago

Also, be aware of the "Only Nixon can go to China" phenomenon. In order to achieve lasting change in society, it needs to be perceived as something coming out of the core, not the periphery. If Talarico manages to be perceived as Christian by the majority-Christian population of Texas, this can actually lead to stronger secularization down the line than through any other method.

1

u/someone_someone94 1d ago

i hear you are voting for him and i think that's great and i agree we don't have to agree with every stance to support the obvious right choice. but i am curious about the trans rights stance. i have not heard anything from him suggesting trans people deserve less rights?

0

u/lemon_flavor 1d ago

We need someone more centrist to win over the Republican voters

Do we, though? I get that you're in Texas and Texas is historically a very red state, but I have seen this claim everywhere with very little evidence to back it up. All I've ever seen is that voters self-identify as "centrist," but digging into specific policies, the general population seems to be to the left of the Democratic party on most economic issues.

I also don't think we need to throw trans people under a bus to win. We just need to spend some time convincing people that everyone deserves equal rights and respect.

3

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

We do need someone who is at least Christian and speaks about reaching across the aisle. Texas has been red since the 80's, The majority of our voter base will never vote for a non-christian, a woman, or a person of color. Our cities are blue bubbles, we have leftist mayors. It's the smaller counties that turn us red for presidential and senate races. We have zero chance of getting those voters to support any one more left than centrist, moving closer to the left is the best we can do FOR NOW.

James Talarico does not self identify as a centrist, but his stances on some subjects lends itself that way. He probably wouldn't have spoken out about trans rights if it weren't a current talking point with women's sports. That doesn't make what he said mean less.

2

u/lemon_flavor 1d ago

This all makes sense. Racism, sexism, and religious intolerance are all issues across the nation.

My concern is more that we have accepted that we must stop fighting for good things because dyed-in-the-wool Republicans are apparently the most important voter base for Democrats. Instead of losing all values for a demographic which will never realistically vote for us, why not make our own case? It seems to me that voters have a lot more respect for someone who disagrees with them and makes their case, than the politicians who meekly parrot whatever seems to be most popular at the moment.

2

u/Little-Blackberry755 1d ago

That is the energy behind my first comment that is getting downvoted! I have been voting democrat in every single election, mid terms and local as well, but the second I ask for more I’m called a bot or a republican 😒

2

u/lemon_flavor 23h ago

Yeah, it's frustrating to be sure. Especially after you clearly mentioned your voting intent in that first comment. I think it breaks people's brains to see someone who wants more from politics.

I'm just sick of watching politicians cower in the face of easily-winnable fights, Democratic leadership claiming that Repulicans need to be strong, and the ever-present calls to move to the center.

What I see doesn't match the paradigm of slapping voters onto a 1-dimensional line of left-right. It looks a lot more like a political cabin fever, where the voters just keep voting for the other option and hoping things change for the better. We could short-circuit the whole thing by just promising to make things better and doing our best to deliver on those promises.

0

u/GenRN817 23h ago

This is how we got Trump. Because people didn’t like how Harris laughed.

0

u/Little-Blackberry755 23h ago

Yes, trans rights are the same as how someone laughs. I go to the polls and vote democratic- take your energy to non voters and republicans instead of blaming people on your side.

0

u/amainerinthearmpit 22h ago

NO ONE has a pro abortion stance. Stop saying that.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 19h ago

Did you take your meds today?

0

u/amainerinthearmpit 19h ago

I hate to break it to you, but no one is out here cheering for abortion. It’s actually a pretty somber affair. Autonomy over one’s body is what women with brain cells want. So, most women.

1

u/Little-Blackberry755 19h ago

Abortion is a part of autonomy... sorry that is hard for men to understand. I am pretty sure you did not take your meds today, buddy. Depending on your prescription you may want to wait until it's time for the next dose. Definitely take a break from social media and find something that comforts you until you can get that chemical balance back.

While I agree with the sentiment that’s not the messaging Talarico is trying to get across.

14

u/[deleted] 23h ago

The point of the post was censorship. ABC keeps bending over and take it in the ass, while trying to pretend they’re doing the right thing by keeping Kimmel. Corporate media does not represent the left at all. I stand by my OG statement.

0

u/omegaxcross 20h ago

The post wasn’t purely about censorship. Sure the censorship was bad, but your missing the whole point of Talarico’s interview and his messaging. Don’t ignore the message he’s trying to get across to the audience.

1

u/[deleted] 20h ago

The censorship is the point. ABC thinks they can keep Talarico’s message a secret, which anyone on the Left knows since he won the primary, by not showing it and appearing neutral bc Kimmel still has a job.

Even as an atheist, I think there needs to be more like Talarico. You can see how trump is trying to bury his fear with the lamest middle school insults. FCC doesn't control YouTube yet, does it?

15

I'm an atheist Socialist Democrat, and I would welcome some old school conservative politicians that actually care about the people they represent. Heck, I would welcome some liberal politicians that care about their constituents too. It seem like, any more, both Republicans and Democrats are two different chapters out of the same Ayn Rand book.

I am not a believer because of all the logical fallacies and magical thinking that the bible is based on. But that doesnt disgust me nor does it make it difficult for me to engage with religious people.

What makes it difficult to engage is the fact so, so, so many people use religion to denigrate and judge. If more believers were like Talarico I would be drawn to them based on their kindness and true belief in the positive teachings of Jesus. I wouldnt become a believer, but I could see myself enjoying the company of church going folks - even potentially attending church events from time to time for the social aspect.

That really isnt the case as it stands.

u/Historical-Usual6074 13h ago

Yeah I think this is a problem with all schools of thoughts. Being militant and judgemental and/or bullying or gate keeping with your beliefs wether they're about religion or the flipside atheisim, or even just what you personally think is right and wrong often just ends up making you come across as a hypocrite and alienates you from other people who could of just benefitted from some kindness or compassion with out trying to make them think the exact same way you do.

FCC controls public broadcasting. YouTube is not considered public broacasting like NBC, ABC (Kimmel), or CBS (Colbert).

Here's the irony, had the previous FCC chairclown with his oversized reese's mug declared the internet a public utility similar to electricity, I can't help but wonder if Carr would be able to fuck over YouTube like he could public broadcasting.

u/stevez_86 1d ago

I just came up with an idea. If they want to tie Religion and the State together, after so many years in Elected Office the person must retire and become a Priest or Pastor. They ought to be the experts. And there is a lack of younger priests and all that. Kill two birds with one stone. Make them put their Bible where their mouth is. No more retiring to become a board member. You must return to your community, continue to serve the State, and be a religious leader.

2

u/omniverso 22h ago

The pedopresident is offering a straight up bribe and making people at his rallies "pledge to cheat" as if there werent already hundreds of impeachable offenses.

Anyone who still believes the lies that trump spews constantly needs a reality check.

2

u/Uturndriving Sipping tea 21h ago

That bribe promise breaches both federal and state laws. Blanche obvs won't do jack but let's hope that some local AGs can get their act together.

2

u/NessaMagick 16h ago

I might be playing into an ignorant stereotype by saying this, but I get the feeling you just don't get elected in Texas if you're not religious.

2

u/ForgotToCarryTheOne 1h ago

The video is no longer available on YouTube.

1

u/evanwilliams44 20h ago

I'm suspicious of any smart person that is too into Jesus. At a certain level of intelligence you should be able to see through the bullshit. I assume they do and keep the act up anyway. It creeps me out.

He's fine for congress though. The bar is in the toilet.

29

u/IknowMore420 1d ago

Nice to see someone who has some positive perspective in American politics. The place looks like a swamp.

2

u/abunchofcows 10h ago

It is nice but goddamn I want to see more (restrained) anger. Like real genuine disgust over what’s happening both behind the scenes and in plain sight.

22

u/ElectroShockRevival 1d ago

‘he eats meat and throws up everywhere‘ has me straight up cackling 😆. I hope James wins!

2

u/Usful 18h ago

Could be projection, if anything

37

u/GeriatricusMaximus 1d ago

If the previous Dem admin tried even 1% of the sh※t this admin is doing the US would have been in a civil war. The fu※k is going on?

10

u/GnomeFae 1d ago

You can swear on the internet I promise your father won't find out. He's busy rn anyway

6

u/Dry-Illustrator-250 1d ago

There’s subs where you can’t, kinda off topic though

→ More replies (4)

1

u/Spirited-Sea-5484 1d ago

I’ve tried to comment on some subs where it literally will not let you post anything with a curse in it.

3

u/level_17_paladin 23h ago

Fuck really?

1

u/Spirited-Sea-5484 23h ago

Yeah they’ll grey out the send button until you remove the word

2

u/MackTuesday 23h ago

Which one? I want to try "Scunthorpe"

1

u/Spirited-Sea-5484 22h ago

Pretty much any traditional swear word from what I can tell. What’s wild is in both cases I got censored, neither one was directed towards anyone as an insult. They just existed in the sentence.

1

u/MackTuesday 22h ago

Oh I messed up. I meant which subreddit, not which word.

1

u/Spirited-Sea-5484 21h ago

Can’t remember exactly, I think it was an international news sub and the other was about podcast drama

1

u/MurkDiesel 17h ago

sneaky faith-based conservatives are everywhere trying to normalize censorship

1

u/GeriatricusMaximus 16h ago

Yes, depends on the sub, though. Here, had a warning. If I ignore it, comment gets removed (profanity rule, as the warning says) or just has only one view. Meh…

13

u/Beautiful-Act-3617 1d ago

I love talafreakoooo, I so hope he wins.

6

u/MysteriousAge28 1d ago

You can tell its real when somebody starts getting flustered and excited. Any normal person would and should because this is genuine madness. Any other nation would have collapsed by now.

6

u/Big77Ben2 1d ago

His comment about the nicknames is exactly the perspective we need right now. Buzz words and slander don’t actually do anything productive.

7

u/butwhywedothis 1d ago

Yep. The whole of America has turned into WWE except that the main characters (the current administration) are making every American fight each other while they sit down and watch the show.

5

u/vonhizzle 1d ago

We're all Talafricos

3

u/AvailableReporter484 1d ago

It’s scientifically proven that conservatism only thrives in a bubble. It’s completely contingent on ignorance and fear. Fear of brown people. The ignorance of thinking there are post-op trans 3 year olds on every corner coming to take your bathroom.

It’s in the best interest of the GOP and their Epstein island overlords to continue to keep the masses uneducated as all fuck because that’s the only way they maintain power.

The moment conservatives realize they’re being manipulated is the moment we can change this entire fucking society around.

3

u/Cheezis_Chrust 1d ago

This right here is exactly why they attack/dismantle any form of education besides religious indoctrination. They want them dumb and loyal.

3

u/AvailableReporter484 1d ago

Oh yeah. It’s all entirely predicated on evil.

0

u/MurkDiesel 17h ago

The moment conservatives realize they’re being manipulated is the moment we can change this entire fucking society around.

i don't think you have a proper understanding of the problem

4

u/Hali_Stallions 1d ago

Trump going after someone studying to be a Minister on religion is gonna be REALLY funny. Talarico will roast him. I'm not particularly religious, but using the bible to teach people about respect and helping others would certainly be a welcome change from the way it's currently weaponized.

3

u/Halcyon512 1d ago

Take my vote James and let's do this!

3

u/3Duder 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's pretty wild that nobody who criticizes James Talarico ever mentions who he's running against. Asking Republican voters to hold their nose and vote for Ken Paxton is a big reach. I also wonder if all the right wing "he looks weird" stuff is some kind of bait strategy because Ken Paxton is blind in one eye and they'll suddenly care about ableism if he's mocked for his appearance.

8

u/Cheezis_Chrust 1d ago

It’s also pretty wild that Ken Paxton’s own staff reported him to the FBI, and his own defense attorney endorsed Talarico.

6

u/Dudeincar434 1d ago

Hey Donald, You wanna kow what actually disrespects Jesus?

Cheating on your wife. Like Donald and Ken Paxton have done

2

u/Ol_Turd_Fergy 3h ago

Talarico went to Seminary and Trump golfs on Sundays instead of going to church

3

u/EitherChannel4874 1d ago

He needs round the clock protection before he's found dead and ruled suicide by shooting himself in the head 4 times.

3

u/TrueNeutrino 1d ago

. . . and on election day, what should you do?

VOTE!

3

u/AltruisticPossible84 23h ago

"These nicknames don't put money into the pockets of Americans"

"The Talifreako shirt is our best selling item" lmao. Double-own

1

u/ngetch 23h ago

As a fundraiser for his campaign, where it is his intention to literally put money back in the hands of USers.

3

u/kinzer13x 23h ago

The billionaires are terrified of this guy. Blocking him from these talk shows is so authoritarian. So dangerous to our democracy - whether you agree with the guy or not.

2

u/Cheezis_Chrust 1d ago

The mobile link for the full interview isn’t working for some, here’s an alternate:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLDE9LrGpNk

2

u/DamnOdd 1d ago

AOC and Talarico Let's go.

2

u/mikedvb 1d ago

It makes me wonder if all of this effort they are doing to keep it off the airwaves doesn't actually get it more attention. I feel like it would, but I don't have any metrics or statistics on it.

2

u/ScoobyScotty 23h ago

I swear to god Texas, if you fuck this up.........

2

u/crimsonhues 20h ago

Texas sadly doesn’t deserve this man and will still vote for Paxton. I am envious that they have such a good candidate.

2

u/Danielmcfate2 18h ago

Every accusation by t-rump is an admission.

1

u/jishimac 1d ago

Truth to power baby! Love him

1

u/Fit-Significance-436 1d ago

Bc he is authentic and honest.

1

u/Baskreiger 1d ago

The need to specify their belief is so fucking cringe. If you did this in canada you would see your popularity plunge immediately. I myself just lost a bit of respect for the guy, still wish him good luck and a victory, but... Fuck Religion

1

u/afCeG6HVB0IJ 1d ago

Sadly any time an election is between the "free ice cream and puppies" candidate and the "diarrhoea and misery for everyone" candidate, somehow the latter wins

1

u/lnTheGrimDarkness 1d ago

They're scared of anyone that may talk some sense into the population.

Go to the street and start talking to people about these things. Randomly.

Or actually don't, you're most likely gonna get arrested. For some reason.

1

u/snakenakedsnakeboss 1d ago

Goddamn this guy is good.

1

u/omegaxcross 1d ago

Spoken like a true Christian! Amen to that!

1

u/Depeche2077 23h ago

Oh my God what a monster, he want to love thy neighbor

1

u/FortuneOpen5715 23h ago

It’s weird! It’s not like that’s in the Bible. Oh wait!

1

u/MsHelvetica 23h ago

It’s gotta be that Iran bombing comment…

I mean, among a bunch of other positive lights Talarico is seen in. But that school bombing comment is probably what they’re afraid the public will latch onto.

1

u/CamOliver 23h ago

I think it’s odd that it feels like the president is campaigning against a senator.

1

u/thisisnahamed 22h ago

If a candidate like this doesn't win an election, there is something deeply fucked up about the state or the country.

1

u/VT_Squire 22h ago

lmao, no kidding... they have talafreako shirts

1

u/hybridpelican 21h ago

Holy sht

This is the first interview I’ve heard of him, and man this is the very definition Texas and maga think they are lol yet they don’t care for the guy? Crazy

1

u/SnapGoesTheShutter 21h ago

Sad that he would be laughed out of Sacramento. I would vote for people who are even pretending to be moral at this point.

1

u/rodneedermeyer 21h ago

I love everything about Talarico, and I'm hoping for a massive blue wave. But it's a shame that in US politics one must give lip service to religion to stand a chance of getting elected. I'd love to see some atheists in office. Religion should be a personal choice for each individual. In no way should it ever have anything to do with public policy.

1

u/Chromigula 21h ago

I’m not sure Mr “Two Corinthians” has standing to tell others anything about religion

1

u/realauthormattjanak 20h ago

Are "they" aware of being afraid?

1

u/wallycron 20h ago

I’m glad I don’t live in Texas for a number of reasons, but I do wish I could vote for this guy.

He’s got my vote for president.

1

u/Consistent-Bear9163 19h ago

I'll be so passed if he flips.

1

u/CVCobb 18h ago

These old guys in their fake tans. Just burn them all day long with that lol. No pun intended, but they are so thin skinned that would just take Trump and Paxton down.

1

u/Mountain_Town5759 18h ago

I started this and it was super religious. I wasn't having it.

1

u/mexicanred1 9h ago

Is there a class where I can learn to speak with the same cadence as Obama too?

1

u/TheSquirrelWithin 6h ago

I like what Talarico has to say. Am curious, tho - is he reading off of cue cards? He's not the only interviewee who does it, but instead of looking at Kimmel his eyes keep darting away.

1

u/l111beral 2h ago

Finally a normal dude and not some weird terrorist supporter, Mao LARPer or defund the police idiot. More of this pls.

1

u/Infinite-Dinner1725 2h ago

This is not a dig, but why does he talk like white Obama to me?!

It’s not a bad thing, it just makes me laugh because he reminds me of the way Obama talks.

1

u/-fakebirds- 22m ago

lol I’ve seen a lot of people start calling him White Obama you’re not the first (and also in a good way)

1

u/AstroAppaMBA 2h ago

DSA or bust

1

u/Environmental_Idea18 24m ago

I love him. He’s chill, mild mannered, non-performative. Charming, but not fake. I’m an atheist, but I definitely respect Jesus “actual” teachings. Talafreako for Senate. Turn Texas Blue.

1

u/luigis_left_tit_25 1d ago

The Baffoon In Charge.. Every accusation is a confession.. Imagine the reference to fake christians, and not loving Jesus is rich asf.. Not that I give two shits, I don't believe in the sky dad anyhow.. But fake is fake is fake and Trump.. He's full blast plastic.

1

u/ActuatorLower8371 1d ago

i wish religious people would shut the fuck up tbh. practice your magical skydaddy bookclub in private. keep it the fuck away from governance or any position of authority.

1

u/ThoriatedFlash 21h ago

Selling cheap Chinese-made Bibles with his name on the cover at an outrageous price is disrespecting Jesus. Him pretending to be a Christian in order to gain their support is disrespecting Jesus.

0

u/-_VoidVoyager_- 1d ago

What a great country this would be if we actually followed Christian teachings

2

u/ngetch 23h ago

Maybe read the book first before you start pushing that agenda. It's rough in there.

0

u/comsudo 1d ago

Hey, I've seen this playbook running from time to time. New guards vs Oldguards, This family vs other family, rich vs poor,

At this stage, anyone from these two parties are equally responsible.
