Streisand effect, funny isn't it.

36

u/Forsexualfavors 14h ago

I watched it today, haven't had cable tv or seen anything firsthand late-night tv for ten years

64

u/Texas_Sam2002 15h ago

It's a great interview. Highly recommend!

u/PickedLastLemon 15h ago

It's good to hear a politician that's educated, sane, and mature. He's not making promises. He's making an attempt to set things on a course to set things right. Not perfect. Just morally right.

u/Scary__Poppins 7h ago

Don’t forget “not Ken Paxton’s pen” only $6 :)

1

u/nullpotato 8h ago

It's insane that is exceptional and not like the bare minimum for the job.

-2

u/seweso 6h ago

Sane? He beliefs in a magic being in the sky. How is that sane?

11

u/zoebud2011 4h ago

The difference is he's not trying to shove it down our throats like the Christian nationalists. He can believe whatever he wants as long as I don't have to.

4

u/PickedLastLemon 1h ago

But he's not using his faith to dictate policy. He's not stating that his faith is the one and only and suggesting if you are not of his faith then you are wrong. I am definitely NOT a religious person. I don't think people are crazy for believing in a higher power. I just don't have.....well.....faith! That's my personal path. The GOP/MAGA would say I'm a communist, trans, liberal, California weirdo, vegan, satanic Muslim that's trying to break into the other gender's bathroom. Talarico would shrug and say Welcome.

u/Allthemuffinswow 11m ago

People can believe in whatever they want to believe in. As long as they're not trying to shove it down my throat, wtf difference does it make to me?

19

u/scifijunkie3 14h ago

I saw it today. How anyone could think that Paxton is the better choice is beyond my understanding. It has to be due to extreme hatred of others who lead different lifestyles or mental problems or both.

5

u/not_so_subtle_now 8h ago

The vast majority of people are basically robots. They don't participate in their conscious existence in life. They just go with whatever the people round them believe. Their extreme hatred only exists because the people around them told them to hate. They don't see nuance or try to understand differences, and they get angry when you tell them they can choose to see something else.

And here’s the transcript.

Thanks man. Fuck Trump and his corrupt cronies

Everything this administration does…

Is there any situation where the simpsons don't have a great reference? I submit that there is not

3

u/omniverso 11h ago

South Park doing the episode about "SIMPSON did it!!" comes to mind. I think between those two shows just about everything is covered.

21

u/alchemyDev 15h ago

Yeah those 1.9 million viewers are old voters that needed to see him. Those 4 million views are global and not the demographic that needs to hear him. We’re gonna need to keep it up until it goes much higher than that if we want to call this a win

17

u/PowerResponsibility 15h ago

Link it on Facebook

11

u/AcquaintanceLog 13h ago

Stick an AI picture of Jesus on there to keep their attention

3

u/edgeman312 9h ago

The FCC is just surpressing free speech, releasing this on Youtube is complying in advance. If Kimmel had a spine he'd air it on TV and make a spectacle of the bullshit trial that follows. This isn't a win.

1

u/Fast_Adhesiveness528 40m ago

Kimmel doesn't own nor control ABC. So that's the spine that's MIA.

19

u/HolidayStranger2353 15h ago

This is what he does. Another plan gone down the toilet.

5

u/Stephen_085 14h ago

Straight into the diaper. He needs changing.

17

u/PickedLastLemon 15h ago

Watched it this morning as I was getting ready for work. Always good to walk out the door with a smile on your face.

5

u/Aggravating_Bat3618 14h ago

Which reminds me I still need to watch the last 10 minutes

13

u/dprestonwilliams1 14h ago

Kimmel wasn't intimated, that was the sell-out executives at ABC.

-2

u/Luci-Noir 14h ago

They sold out so hard that they did the interview.

13

u/MosquitoValentine_ 14h ago

Sure was nice of Trump and the FCC to do free advertising for them. I didn't even know about the interview until yesterday, but I'm glad I watched it.

JT tells the truth about MAGA "Christians" and they hate him for that.

-12

u/IcyEntertainment7122 14h ago

Enforcing immigration laws isn't anti Christian

5

u/Glum_Strawberry18 12h ago

What do you think is going to happen to that poor Afghan woman they just deported.

3

u/zoebud2011 4h ago

You mean like putting a felon and rapist and pedophile in the White House is Christian? Go away.

9

u/Studman63 15h ago

The republican boat is slowly sinking

6

u/WhereMyWeirdosAt 12h ago

Going to sink faster with rats like Fetterman jumping on board!!

5

u/Ren1221 Fabulous Dahling 😎💅🏼 15h ago

4

u/OnlyFiveLives 14h ago

And I'll guarantee you Jimmy's people expected and predicted this.

5

u/eeevaughn 13h ago

Are you calling a guy who was able to bankrupt his own casinos inept? Most people would think it is a colossal failure that only a fool could achieve.

5

u/PresentFirm7937 Thirsty Bitch 11h ago

angry paedophile noises

3

u/AnythingNo3593 9h ago

JFC that thing is horrifying.

4

u/Bruin_1993 14h ago

Wasn’t going to see it, but now I will.

3

u/Bootlegger1922 14h ago

You know what they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

4

u/Troubled202 12h ago

Trump = Stupid

5

u/SoggyOutfield 10h ago

I watched it and I have never watched an episode or single interview of Kimmel in my life. Not because I don't like him, I just don't watch TV.

3

u/Maleficent_Sink_5183 14h ago

I watched it and donated to his campaign. I love what he is doing in Texas.

3

u/newyne 9h ago

That's actually a good point: I see a lot of comments about how the people who need to see it won't, but... I donated to Talarico a while ago, so now of course I keep getting ads that donations are slowing down and they need a lot more. I do what I can, but I don't have that much myself... But this should be fantastic for raising campaign funds! Like, there's more to this kind of thing than changing people's minds. How many would that have been in the first place, vs. how many are likely to donate when they agree with what they're hearing?

2

u/Maleficent_Sink_5183 3h ago

As an ex-Catholic it’s just so refreshing to hear someone use Christianity to drive helping your neighbors not taking away their rights

3

u/OrigStuffOfInterest 14h ago

It's called the Streisand Effect. MAGA is too dense to understand it.

3

u/RhythmTimeDivision 14h ago

We can drive that number even higher. I haven't watched yet but I'll get on it tonight.

UPDATE: it is currently at 4.7M views.

1

u/BothTop36 14h ago

Yeah, but how many people from Texas? The people that count are they actually watching it you could have 10 million views from New York and California doesn’t mean a thing.

1

u/scifijunkie3 1h ago

How many from Texas would have seen it had it aired on TV? The Jimmy Kimmel show is aired nationally so anyone from anywhere can see it.

3

u/Shaggy01513 14h ago

Pinkies up!

3

u/craigslist_hedonist 14h ago

thank you Streisand effect

3

u/Ok_Prior9068 13h ago

The more you tighten your grip, the more slips through your fingers

3

u/Dazzling-Assist723 13h ago

I love that they pulled a Streisand on this, but this pressure from the government is exactly the kind of behavior the first amendment to the U.S. constitution is meant to prohibit.

How far we’ve fallen in a decade.

3

u/Lone-Frequency 12h ago

Like most situations where Dump tries to be intimidating, he just looks like a fool yet again.

2

u/yyzsfcyhz 14h ago

Better record it and start seeding it around. Google has no problem bending the knee.

2

u/bravesirrobin65 14h ago

Unfortunately, had it aired, you'd be seeing clips being aired by other networks. It's just another crime committed by this administration.

2

u/SnoopingStuff 13h ago

JD vance wants to see his laptop history. I am taking over under bets for how long before JDs search history becomes a problem. We all know- every accusation is a confession with Republicans. Please place your bets! Step right up! lol 😝

2

u/bitchcoin5000 12h ago

Kimmel said that during President Donald Trump’s administration, the Federal Communications Commission “has threatened me, threatened our show, threatened our network, ABC, our affiliates, our local stations, based on simple, traditional editorial decisions, guest bookings it would seem they don’t like.”

2

u/Late-Presentation908 11h ago

La naranja has the Mierdas Touch

2

u/DenialOfExistance 10h ago

Absolutely Love It! ❤️❤️❤️

2

u/Mountain_rage 9h ago

He did a great job of burning Republicans, Christo fascist nationalists and all those hypocritical sunday bunch assholes. How? By being Ned Fucking Flanders level of wholesome christian.

2

u/Significant-Pace-521 7h ago

It’s dumber then dumb I mean the White House knew this would happen as Colbert had an interview with Talaroico before he was cancelled and it had to air on YouTube as well. It got massive views

2

u/PollyErickson91 7h ago

VOTE FOR TALARICO

HE WON'T STEAL YOUR PEN

Brilliant. 😂

(And as a Texan living in the county they were talking about in this interview, I'm absolutely voting for Talarico, but I just wanted to take a minute to give a shout to Tim O'Hare, Matt Krause and Manny Ramirez, the assholes responsible for closing our polling stations...screw you guys!! 🖕)

2

u/Aunt_Polly_Blue 5h ago

I watched it. I learned that Ken Paxton stole a $1,000 pen and did not give it back until the police were involved. If he has no issue with stealing someone's pen, I'm sure he has no issue stealing from you either.

2

u/HereticHamster 2h ago

I remember a movie being banned. a week later everyone over ten had watched it. works every time.

2

u/Background-Key-1088 2h ago

ABC and other legacy media are run by cowards. Congress is run by cowards. trump only does this shit because he knows that cowards won't stand up to him. When people do stand up to him, he crumples like one of his cheap suits.

1

u/True_Protection6842 14h ago

Gee what a surprise. Every time they do this the YouTube version blows up. Maybe they're making more money on youtube revenue and it's just a scam to drive traffic.

1

u/liquidsyphon 14h ago

Are the people that need to see it actually going to seek it out though? Or will they just catch the Fox News washed highlights.

1

u/Available_Cow1197 14h ago

just like every enterprise in his life, "and i love the word enterprise," has failed miserably, this too shall fail

1

u/jljue 14h ago

Only old people really care to watch things on air; YouTube and other other media outlets are the way for the younger generations.

1

u/Adept-Opinion8080 13h ago

Not saying it's wrong but I think it was well played. In other words, it was entirely intentional

1

u/Signal-Noise3435 13h ago

Perfect love this

1

u/JDB-667 13h ago

Because Trump still acts like it's the 80s and 90s thinking people give a shit about late night TV and only sit on front of a TV to watch.

People get their content online.

So it's another Streisand Effect

1

u/SnoopingStuff 13h ago

Well played

1

u/biggyh 9h ago

4 million out of what? Lets not get jaded by numbers like 2016 and 2024 by fumbling this again

1

u/isUKexactlyTsameasUS 8h ago

JK + JT are on the right side of history - and even YT - bit of a snoozefest tho...

1

u/Neat-Difficulty-9111 8h ago

yea... but the effect is that this interview isn't reaching the people who need to see it. Just like the rest of info that should be seen by maga so that they can see that they've been duped. The effect of media manipulation by conservative media is the reason why maga doesn't understand the division created by their propaganda.

1

u/scifijunkie3 1h ago

ABC is a national broadcast company. How do you know it wouldn't reach the people it needs to reach had it aired on TV? On YouTube, it reaches a wider area than ABC. I just don't understand why people think it's not reaching the intended audience because it's on YouTube. The same people who wanted to see it wached it.

1

u/Forward-Face9436 7h ago

Evil always loses because it's inept. It takes shortcuts and never thinks about the long game.

1

u/sickboy76 5h ago

Wonder how many people are going to watch the elmo documentary now he's threatening lawsuits? These dullards really dont think about streisand effect when pulling crap like this do they?

1

u/Delicious_Volume3306 5h ago

Out of the loop. How in God's name can the FCC tell a TV show who they can interview? I honestly can't think of any situation where that would be permissible. Even if this guy was a heinous criminal then there's still scope for an interview asking why he did what he did.

1

u/ProgressMedium2172 4h ago

Yay for resilient, intelligent Americans, but Trump further consolidating power in the media is a bad sign of things to come if America doesn’t start to seriously correct things, starting with the upcoming elections.

1

u/TheExplorationApp 4h ago

Why didn't they just air it? Acting like they are standing up to the administration by capitulation is wild. They should have aired it and handled the blowback if they want to act like a hero. Instead they did what they were told.

Feckless

1

u/ihave18cm 4h ago

It’s not intimidation. The issue is that abc won’t host opposite views to even appear balanced under US law. Educate thyself.

1

u/Luckys0474 2h ago

Get that pee out the pool!

1

u/icnoevil 11m ago

The best way to call attention to something is to try to hide it.

1

u/roadkill21288 14h ago

He wanted this to happen. Trump is sabotaging the Republican Party.

-10

u/JRock1276 15h ago

Actually, those are lower than Dora the explorer numbers.
