IMO, Beshear is playing this right. If a special election was held, the GOP would very likely win. McConnell, meanwhile, is not able to vote in the Senate, which helps, and Beshear gets to keep releasing statements like this.

Hereās a thought. Iām not sure where if I would necessarily agree but it is an intriguing idea. What if Senators were actually compensated by their respective states and possibly even US representatives are compensated by their individual districts. The compensation wouldnāt necessarily be equal, either. Richer states that chose to could potentially pay their senators more and richer representative districts the same and vice versa (although not necessarily). The argument for this arrangement is politicians could be compelled to better represent their own constituency. A caveat would have to be somehow in place prohibiting funding outside their own constituency. Thoughts?

What is unacceptable is how Governor Beshear has handled this. A Republican governor would have already replaced him or camped out in front of the hospital until he could see Mitch himself.
