Lady, you're supposed to give the taxi driver a tip.

10

u/notloggedin4242 19h ago

Brutal. I wish I could find a way to use this IRL.

2

u/SnooCauliflowers3235 12h ago

She is the tip

2

u/spiritual_ballsack57 8h ago

Yup but, he had other plans & gave his tip

2

u/Large-Lack-2933 8h ago

He gave her more of his tip. Baby, baby.

Something similar happened to a security guy in china around 2008, who worked for a university where an american woman came teaching english for a year or two. She met him and proposed not long after. And their kid now approaches adulthood.

You never know where or who you will end up with.

He was 35 and she 26

6 years ago, my new roommate moved into my house share, who was 10 years older than me, is Latvian and is drop dead gorgeous.

I never thought I had a chance with her, given how gorgeous she is and that I'm Bengali, but we somehow became the only two people living in the house share during COVID and we fell in love with each other.

Our son turns 4 next week.

Just want to add, for the first three months of COVID, I was stuck in a house with two women that I kept entertained.

One of them had to leave for work resendential leaving me with the one I had the strongest connection to😅

62

u/Tranxio 11h ago

Describe 'kept entertained'...

5

u/Makaveli2020 7h ago

I'll leave it up to your imagination about what the three of us got up to.

Six years ago, I was doing a pinup shoot and had like eight models coming through. Just because it’s the job, I was being flirty and chatty with all of them, but this one I just had way better chemistry with than the others.

We were talking about bars we liked and somehow we ended up on a date that neither of us asked for. During the date, I mentioned that I hadn’t finished her pictures yet and she asked to look at them, so we start heading to my place and she goes “I don’t have my card. Can you call me a taxi tomorrow?”

And I was like “yeah, absolutely.” Anyway, we have three kids, now.

5

u/not-always-online 3h ago

But did you call her a taxi? Be careful with taxi guys, easy to fall for them

55

u/Accomplished_Meat_81 19h ago

Congrats dude! I was in the Navy for 8 years and then got divorced and separated from the Navy. 2 years later, met my next wife who is from Haiti and migrated here. We met at our old job. We are absolutely made for each other and I’ve never been happier.

17

u/Large-Hamster-199 18h ago

I wish you both a lifetime of happiness.

2

u/Sleep-more-dude 3h ago

Congrats! Leaving the Navy probably made you straighter.

66

u/SatinSaffron 16h ago

This story made me happy to read and it's similar to mine! 8 years ago I put an ad up for a room for rent. A guy who needed to live closer to the city responded, and he was also 10 years older than me.

We met for coffee just to make sure we got along well and later discovered we were both secretly telling ourselves "calm down, this is not a date, it's not a date"

From the second he moved in it's like we were instantly best friends and not roommates, but also super attracted to each other. One day we packed up, moved across the country, eloped, and have been happily married ever since!

More people need to experience the amazement of the Roommate to Spouse Pipeline© like you and I did!

30

u/Makaveli2020 15h ago

Very similar indeed! For the first six months of being "stuck" together because of COVID, we went from being practically strangers (she moved in a month before lockdown) to being best friends. We'd both told ourselves to calm down as well, and that we were room mates but we became inseparable.

We still are.

4

u/blueArmor14 10h ago

That's it. I'm going to move to a city and live with roommates

5

u/Gay_Asian_Boy 16h ago

I assume you’re a girl. I wonder if you thought it’s dangerous to have a strange male living in your house

14

u/Legitbananabunch 14h ago

She met him for a coffee first for that reason I suppose?

9

u/SatinSaffron 11h ago

There was a lot more done behind the scenes, I only mentioned the coffee meetup as it sounds better for our story. But trust me, I wasn't going to let a "strange man" just randomly move in with me.

3

u/monson2048 10h ago

There’s more to this?! You’ve got to spill the beans now

14

u/cakivalue 16h ago

And here I get told that she cannot meet me on the weekends coz she's busy with work. Sigh.

84

u/MaintenanceStock6766 17h ago

When you really love somebody you do just about anything to see them as often as you can.

That should be a sign.

22

u/rithvikrao 16h ago

I agree brother. I already know the dreaded text saying either that she doesn't have time and has to focus on her career, or that I'm a nice dude but she doesn't see me romantically is coming. But the heart for some unknown reason clings on to hope. Either way this time I'm prepared.

2

u/Killionaire104 10h ago

I feel like you should maybe talk to her about how you’re feeling. the way I see it, either what you’re saying is true, then you’re better off ripping the bandaid now, and if it isn’t then thinking and feeling this way isn’t good so maybe a conversation about it would help.

2

u/EconomyFalcon3725 4h ago

This is the worst possible option—- it clearly is true, it’s never not, and those conversations are the biggest turn off ever. Either just walk if it’s emotional torture or back off and try being less engaged and legitimately live your life. If it’s meant to be it’ll form into something.

Okay so the first page makes it sound like this happened all in one trip and that’s just not the case. They met, kept in contact, and fell in love. Isn’t that what most people want? To find their person?

6

u/North_Atlantic_Sea 5h ago

And also most people imagine a tax ride to be a few blocks, not 3 hours lol plenty of time to get to know each other

249

u/GrumplFluffy 17h ago

What a condescending post. He is a taxi driver so he is somehow not deserving of love? Being in India makes him less of a human? What’s the implication dude?

143

u/rollturmacroll 14h ago

The tone of this post is giving “Thank GOD for the generosity of this white woman for seeing a brown person working a normal ass job as human.”

17

u/tursija 12h ago

I've read this as a cute story of finding love in unsuspecting places, like a taxi ride on one's vacation in a different country, and also a story about love persisting against differences in culture and against bureaucracy.

I've reread the text a couple of times and I can't see what you see. Can you please show me where you see the condescention or the racism? Otherwise I think you are projecting opinions.

Dad's genes put up no fight

16

u/Odd_Roll5084 8h ago

Lmao no, that's how an average indian baby looks when born. He'll darken with age

44

u/DerpiDanger 9h ago

In india skin color can darken during teen years. I was born fair but changed to Indian brown skin after age of 10. It depends on how much time you spend in warm climate & sunshine too.

9

u/mrJERRY007 4h ago

Let them cook

2

u/BigMan-31 7h ago edited 6h ago

Does it ever change back to the childhood fairness if we stay long enough in temperate climates?

EDIT: I'm just asking cause my farmer's tan has gotten so bad, I have to look for different colours, that go with my darker skin tone

2

u/Odd_Roll5084 5h ago

Nope, if it's tan then it'll go away by staying indoors or avoiding sun, but if it's your natural skin color it'll remain the same, and no your natural skin color doesn't necessarily mean the baby skin color you are born with

US tourist hitches rickshaw, weds driver in a week: report

September 25, 2009 — 5:21pm

A 26-year-old American tourist travelling in India hitched a ride in a rickshaw last week and married the driver a few days later, a report said today.

Whitney from Chicago met her prince charming in Jaipur in Rajasthan, a state west of the capital famous for its stately palaces, after hailing a motorised rickshaw and hiring the driver for her stay in the city, the Mail Today newspaper said.

"On the third day, he surprised me by popping the question," Whitney told the paper. "'I want to spend the rest of my life with you', he told me. I fell in love."

20

u/Commandant_Grammar 18h ago

Whitney, whose surname wasn't given by the paper, is to fly back to the US on September 30 to face her parents. 😆
