I worked as a residential electrician a long time ago. I was caught reading instructions for how to assemble a chandelier once. The home owner was upset for some reason, lol.

lol same. I was charging starting up a rooftop unit. I’m certified by the manufacturer and this job had a commissioning agent as part of everything. I was reading the manual for it and the guy was such an asshole about it calling up the client. He handed me the phone and the client is like the CA is saying you don’t know what you’re doing. I’m like I do know what I’m doing, sometimes they changed the passcode or a sequence on the units and I was double checking, since they literally tell you in training always read the manual as minor things change from year to year in the designs.

I would be glad if people came with their instruction manuals 😅. Those instructions can be different from person to person by quite a lot.

Manuals should be essential. A common saying among computer systems folk used to be "read the f&*#ing manual". RTM for short.

When manuals stopped being readily available, I stopped actually being interested in computer related things.

Really?! My electrician read the manual while installing my ceiling fan. I was glad he wanted to make sure he did it right.
