So if someone was born in 1988 (a millennial) they got 2 good years of adulthood, awesome, very cool.
Earliest birthyear for millennial is 1981, so 9 years of good adulthood. I kinda think that's worse, it's long enough that they've put hard work in, but not long enough to have saved much. No wonder the ones that own houses are those with well off parents who helped.
Honestly, I finished secondary school in sept 2006, and it only really felt like we had one year of calm before everyone was starting to get on edge, by feb 2008 most things were starting to wobble and fall.
Then it felt like 2016-2020 was when things were okay enough, and it was levelling back out.
I became a legal adult the week of 9/11. And finished my masters in economics in May 2008 after getting a bachelor's in finance. My career path did not go as planned....
Xennial here.. my microgen was the last group that had a chance. I kind of hope this whole techno-fascism thing sees a serious backlash before taking a real hold and getting wildly bloody. Not to discount the violence already going on, but it can get so much worse.
I was born in 1979. Teenager in the nineties, young adult in the booming naughties, was lucky enough to have a good job and a deposit and bought a cheap house in 2009. My timing was pretty good.
Seems to me, instead of every generation trying to compare who had it worse, the real thing to address is how everyone can come together to create solutions and hold leaders accountable.
This is more accurate than that “millennials have live through more major events than any other generation” - the other older gen’s that are still alive went through all that and more!
Gen X came of age in the 80s and 90s and entered the workforce during the period of consistent growth so good they call it the NICE Decade (non inflationary constant expansion), so not sure that tracks
A term used by people who think life peaks in high school and it's all downhill afterward. A lot of Zoomers believe 25 is unc, so they can't comprehend actually enjoying life as an adult.

The deal changed 30 years ago. People are just realizing it recently though. People don’t have time to have hobbies, but they do have time for side hustles that they can monetize their hobbies!
I really think of it as the discovery era. In good times, that is when young adults are still hormonal, not burnt out yet, discovering their bodies with others, and exploring what they want to do with the rest of their lives. My gen got a few years to just have fun after HS in college or an entry-level job. You could live on the income from any job without stressing much as long as you had a couple of roommates. Including having the time, money, energy and liberty to go out and party.
Gen Z are literal wage slaves, just above chattel slavery at this point if you don't have connections. Calling it how I see it. You should be pissed IMHO.
70s born mfs: AIDS crisis, crack/heroin epidemics, and war in Iraq during the enjoyment era, financial recession and pandemic during the employment era.
Entered the workforce during the GFC lol, or lack thereof. Shitkicker jobs for nearly a decade despite having a postgrad in a highly competitive cut throat field. It’s the lost decade no one ever seems to bring up…and then covid hit.
I genuinely hate anyone in my generation that thinks covid lockdowns ruined their lives or something cause they had to be remote or whatever for several months. Then you resumed pretty much normal life.
Mf people died and became disabled from covid like count your fucking blessings. I got sick from covid when I was 19 and Im turning 26 this year and Im still sick from it. I have a right to say it genuinely ruined my life.
So yeah get the fuck over yourself covid lockdowns didnt do anything to you its not the reason you are miserable or dont enjoy things much. You are getting older.
Material in the building industry has gone up x3 since COVID. This increase is not eaten buy the builder but the consumers instead, also the people building your home did not see a x3 increase to their pay. Almost everything has gone up since COVID except people's paychecks. People are allowed to have negative thoughts toward the pandemic?

I feel for y’all, shit is real. I don’t say that in jest. My first degree, Electrical Maintenance from a trade school that don’t even exist anymore, at least got my foot in the door as a steelworker inspector. It opened doors.
I went back for business years later because…reasons. Life. Keep it at that.
But this shit now…dude I don’t ever want to apply for job in this shit now. Bag all that jazz.
Edit: Looking thru comments…yall don’t understand how those kids got screwed over in 2020, 2021, and 2022. I was getting my masters at the start 2021.
