That feeling when Argentina lost the world cup final.

Give this guy a raise

4

u/TermEnvironmental812 5d ago

As England fans, it's so satisfying

1

u/Few-Literature-8642 2d ago

Why is Argentina just suddenly getting hate?

Rent free over a month later even though they only watch football every 4 years. Atleast I have seen my country lift one, have you? ⭐⭐⭐

u/zeusdescartes 5d ago

I was like... Can we stop posting kids on the Internet alread... OMG they got me! That was awesome!

26

u/Curiosive 5d ago

Yeah, I chuckled but the video is still filtered or straight up AI. While the boy brings his hand across his face, his chin does a quantum leap up a few centimeters.

18

u/TFTHighRoller 5d ago

Lots of asian phone OS auto apply filters to their camera apps.

11

u/samsg1 5d ago

It was a filter on the phone.

39

u/POI_Harold-Finch 5d ago

I mean they got me.

I knew I had trouble distinguishing one asian from other in same gender... But TIL for kids, I can't separate them even if they are from different genders

31

u/AlchemicHawk 5d ago

There’s also a filter on this

17

u/slobbysloth 5d ago

Exactly. You can see the face/chin change size best the end portion of when the kid wipes his face.

1

u/entonina 4d ago

This got me good

Why apply filters to a child’s face?

1.1k

u/Lycorispink 5d ago

Chinese phone cameras usually have soft filters as a default, I only noticed after having my phone for a couple months lol

442

u/i_dont_know 5d ago

That is more than a β€œsoft” filter, whole face jumped and changed shape.

224

u/Training_Guide5157 5d ago

Most likely filmed using Douyin (Chinese TikTok), which has its own default filters.

83

u/Akiias 5d ago

When will we get

  1. Phone camera has a defaul filter
  2. Phone camera APP also has a default filter
  3. Video app has a default filter
  4. Default video app player has a default filter

We need more filters! Until everyone looks exactly the same as barbie/ken dolls.

15

u/Training_Guide5157 5d ago

Don't think players or viewers will get filters, but application of filters has been a thing probably since IG came out. The beauty filters are just the latest variaton.

1

u/Pyratheon 3d ago

It's been a thing in China since at least 2008, was built into Samsung/Casio/Olympus/etc. digital cameras by then. Software beauty filters I think were released about the same time

1

u/McJaded 5d ago

There are a couple that have ai upscaling like Infuse and MPC media player if I remember correctly.

3

u/PizzasAreForMe 4d ago

Regular camera apps also has filters, or at least on (some) xiaomi phones Source: I am in China with my chinese girlfriend

I always complain when she takes photos. Because the filter makes me look alien to myself

1

u/Training_Guide5157 4d ago

That was already covered in the previous comment. I live in China and have been using Xiaomi for ~7 years.

6

u/cliko 5d ago

I assumed they meant "filters that make your face look soft" which in my experience is exactly what they do

Although they probably didn't mean that in retrospect

The ones that are sold and used in China.

7

u/Sh_Pe 5d ago

These filters are software-level stuff, so ofc he's talking about Chinese brands. Also the supply chain extends way beyond China. Though assembling is done almost exclusively in China (and to some extent on India too).

Also some of those "smoothing filters" in cheap/old phones can be a result of trying to make up for the lack of detail. I doubt a modern Pixel 9-11 would have a heavy smoothing by default on the main camera, though I might be wrong.

67

u/NoPapercrowns 5d ago

To be fair, in this specific case, it might just be to that they added the filter to make the child look more feminine for the prank?

35

u/klqqf 5d ago

This is an extremely reasonable point

They probably figured out the hair and then thought β€œhow do we go the extra mile?”

53

u/BlatantConservative 5d ago

I hate posting kids to the internet without them being old enough for them to really know what that means.

I hate filters cause it just drives basically everyone into unrealistic standards.

Using filters to hide the identity of a kid on the internet is basically fine? It's like a more sophicticated mosaic.

Whatever adult had this idea is genius imo. Kid has his fun, parent is reassured that their kid's real face isn't online.

41

u/Green_Insect_6455 5d ago

Making your kid look more "beautiful" isnt the same as using a filter to hide their face. The features are all still visible and could easily be recognized on the kids normal face.Β

Dont make this into some noble thing when its not. Its a chinese phone so they all have built in beauty filters. All its doing is fucking peoples self image up.

5

u/IDoLikeMyShishkebabs 5d ago

I feel like people are missing the massive jump in proportions when he runs his hand over his face, it's genuinely disgusting how ingrained this crap is in society. Any product that not only manufacturers, but then preys off these insecurities should not be allowed to exist. But alas.Β

11

u/brumien 5d ago edited 5d ago

I think this is a slimming filter that makes the face look smaller and smoother; these are adjustments that alter the facial features slightly, and I believe they change the size of the face to make it look slimmer, but not to the extent of making the child look like a different, unrecognisable person.

1

u/Frakenz 5d ago

Using filters to hide the identity of a kid on the internet is basically fine? It's like a more sophicticated mosaic.

It's a decent idea, until you remember that by using filters you are feeding faces to AI training

4

u/mca62511 5d ago

Probably the default of the app being used.

TikTok, at least in Japan where I live, has a bunch of filters like that on by default.

16

u/OmegaSeki 5d ago

Yh that's absolutely creepy

-1

u/klqqf 5d ago

Why?

Im genuinely asking, someone else pointed out that it was probably to make him look more feminine for the prank so if you think otherwise- why?

1

u/matheluan 5d ago

To make him look more feminine, that's the point of this video

1

u/Salat_Leaf 5d ago

77

u/Moe___Szyslak 5d ago

Why are they using filter? I mean, almost every freaking video from internet has filter on it, beaty filter or something.

37

u/Youcancuntonme 5d ago

100% of the social media in china uses filters. Even national television

6

u/InfiniteBusiness0 5d ago

Some Android phones and social media platforms have them baked into the camera, photos, and video apps by default.

4

u/kms_daily 5d ago

it’s china where they lib sync pretty kids with ugly kids singing behind the curtain

6

u/BlatantConservative 5d ago

I think they're using it as basically a more sophisticated mosaic for privacy. It's a really good idea when you think about it. Hell, family Youtubers and such should be required to do this.

3

u/tzdsgyw1115 4d ago

No, China doesn’t give a shit about privacy. It’s all about appearances. δΈε›½ζ‰δΈεœ¨δΉŽιšη§ε‘’οΌŒι‚£ε„Ώζ˜―δΈ€δΈͺζ²‘ζœ‰ιšη§ηš„εžƒεœΎεœΊ

Dude

a face filter for a small child

what the actual fuck

1

u/Anuspissmuncher 4d ago

Phones have default filters in some countries by default. It's an opt-out feature and not a opt-in feature, and because of that people don't bother turning them off

1

u/Alantel 2d ago

Can vouch. When I had a Xiaomi 14 Ultra I bought in China, I noticed that the selfie camera was by default in "Beauty/Vibrant" mode which gave me alien like smooth skin and less fatty cheeks alongside whiter skin. Changing that mode to "Textures" reverted everything.

Also amazing username.

It's an AI filter. You can see it shift when he wipes his hand across.

3

u/Altruistic-Wing-2715 5d ago

Catfishing in a nutshell.

2

u/Roskal 5d ago

When he put his hand across his face the filter flickered for a second and I thought the reveal was going to be he was an adult with a kid filter on.

2

u/wirefox1 5d ago

So fun to see kids having fun like this. : )

1

u/4-Vektor 5d ago

It’s sad that the person filming felt the need to use a face filter on the boy. That jumping chin when he’s moving his hand across his face is really irritating.
