What type of dance lessons do you recommend for an absolute beginner? Hip hop, jazz, swing etc. I’m extreeemely uncoordinated and awkward when dancing, but would love to improve just so that I don’t feel so awkward when I go out dancing with friends!

East Coast Swing is beginner friendly and the crowd is beginner friendly, too. Find a spot in your town where they do swing dancing and show up an hour early. Normally an hour before the normal start time there’s a free hour-long lesson for newer dancers.

I think it highly depends on what your taste in style is, the teaching methods, and also the people in your class. Aside from that, Salsa is quite popular for its relatively low threshold. You could also just sign up for single workshops or visit an open house. The hardest step is just trying something out in the first place. Don't be too hard on yourself and just try and have fun. 💜
