Definitely a regular noodle! I live in VA and the only super dangerous snakes around here are copperheads (very very spicy noodles!) but I've only ever seen 2 in the 20 years I've lived here. This was a rat snake. They don't even have fangs. Just little tiny spines in their mouths that help grip food
So far where we live we’ve found three rat snakes two in our house and one outside the two inside one we took outside an released him and the other took off before we could move him outside and the third it took off before the dogs drove it crazy by getting to it and doing dog things to him like barking loudly and giving him temporary deafness there bout small dogs under twenty five pounds and twenty pounds together
They seem to be attracted to air conditioned spaces when it's hot, or vice versa. I work under houses in the crawlspaces installing insulation for a living and we find black snakes (it's a harmless type of rat snake here in VA) on top of the insulation all of the time. I guess escaping the elements. That God we haven't ever stumbled across anything venomous! 😱
That’s very true here too we live in the country in a rural area and my mother used to get venomous snakes too every so often also but not as bad as it could’ve been tho thxs god she got mostly rat snakes too
Of course! I work in crawlspaces underneath houses doing insulation for a living so I come across snakes all the time at work and I never harm them under any circumstances! I leave them be, or if I need to access something they're hiding in, I gently coax them out of the crawlspace. I don't even kill bugs.
Beautiful. Glad you helped it. A-lot of people would sooner kill the little fellow. I wish the average person actually knew more about snakes, rather than believing all of the fear driven malarkey.
I believe it's a rat snake, but I'm not sure the difference between a rat snake and a corn snake. We do have both here in VA. Whatever it was, it wasn't venomous. We have copperheads here and they're dangerous, but most of the snakes you see around here are harmless
Job well done. Location of some dollar and dollar general stores can be weird sometimes. And one can only imagine their storage at the back. Glad none of the employees was in harm's way
That's why I removed it. I didn't want a customer or an employee to get spooked and try to hurt it. I suppose it could've bitten somebody but this snake's bite wouldn't hurt or likely even do any damage. No fangs.
I know a little. I have to deal with them at my work sometimes because I work in crawlspaces underneath houses installing insulation and they love to hide on top of people's insulation and I like to know what kind of danger I may or may not be in 🤭🤭🤭
Nope. I live in VA in a rural area and we have black rat snakes (mostly harmless) corn snakes (mostly harmless) garter snakes (mostly harmless) and copperheads (extremely harmful) this is one of the mostly harmless kinds
My mom gets the black rat snakes at her house they are huge. I also walked out once and stepped right over a Copperhead without noticing until I looked back.
Oh yeah, those black snakes get 6 ft long and pretty dang thicc! Luckily this one was a baby! Copperheads are very frightening! We get them here in rural VA, but I rarely see them, thank god! I have seen a couple. They also camouflage much better than most other snakes so it's easy to step on them out in the woods or leaves. Theyre a little shorter and stumpier than black snakes, but very terrifying to look at and could apparently kill you
Woah! Only about 2 hrs from me! I imagine that means we have exactly the same wildlife where I live. I was about to ask if she was in VA! It's a small world!
I see these all the time! They're harmless for the most part. They have no fangs, and no venom. It's closer to a duck bite, but they do have little small barbs that help grip food and can possible scratch you a little, but usually they aren't too bad. Also not aggressive unless cornered. They'll just try to get away from you or hide
Send him up to ours in North Central Pennsylvania, we have a rodent problem in ours. We don't know why but they love the bread at our store. They climb right into the bags and chow down.
Something, they are trying to deal with by putting in rodent traps, calling the vendors that maybe they have an issue with their warehouse or trucks. Checking the product as it is getting put on the shelves. The one manager is thinking of asking corporate if they can get a barn cat that can be brought in at night to catch them(we are in a heavy rural area and the field mice get really bad at times)
