Funny how the money only appears before elections.

Since we're playing hypotheticals, if the Democrats take the House and Senate, and send a bill to give all American adults $5000 to his desk, what are the odds he signs it?
33
u/ethanlan 1d ago
Zero. Its at the point where if democrats made drinking more water a policy republicans would be anti drinking water.
They have no policy except making themselves and the people giving them money richer. As for anything else? They just do the opposite of whatever dems want because their base has been conditioned to think democrats are wrong about every single issue.

You may have someone there with the water legislation. I would love to watch parched MAGAts dropping off due to dehydration. Maybe Dems could also come out strongly against drinking bleach.

If they gave everyone $5,000 today how else would they bribe you to vote for them in November?
31
u/Telemere125 1d ago
If we have so much money, why not just give everyone $2500 now and promise another $2500 after the election?
8
u/TooGoodatEverything 1d ago
If they were to give out 5k before the election they'd get way more votes than promising to give it afterwards. lol

It's the last ditch effort because of how much bullshit he's caused the shit hole that is America.
And hopefully many of you are smart enough to actually go out and vote this time. If it all backfires on him maybe he'll have a brain aneurysm.

u/Ok_Actuary9229 1d ago
- It's a lie.
- It's bad policy, adding massively to national debt.
- The point is to buy votes, not to actually happen.
People should see through this, but the people who usually vote for Trump aren't that sort of people.

u/TrulyOutrageous42 1d ago
I mean, let's be real - we're owed a huge chunk of money that can only come from WEALTH taxes on corporations (95% over 100mil in profit) in the "94% over 10mil" range for wealthy individuals. We need old school "Republican" liberal taxation like what got us out of the Great Depression.
There's PLENTY of money. It's that the rich are aggregating it, stealing it, and hoarding it, mostly through lies at that.

u/carlnepa 1d ago
A country approaching $41,000,000,000,000 in debt. The math ain't matching as they say.

u/Charming_Slip8060 1d ago
Ahhh, of course! The Democrats, even though the Magats hold the Judiciary, the Executive, and both chambers of Congress...are to blame for these, and all failures.
19
u/Taco_Taco_Kisses 1d ago
Honestly, if they were smart, they WOULD do it right before the election, and not promise to do it after. It's not AT ALL ethical, but, unfortunately, giving out a bunch of checks right before the election would sway a bunch of voters. Even those "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" hypocrites.
Further let's you know they have absolutely no intention to do it. It's just like the "Democrats are all in the Epstein Files" evidence. If it were true, they would've released it long ago.
5
u/Far-Two8659 1d ago
Honestly I don't think it makes the slightest difference for the election itself. The people who vote in midterms don't need $5k in motivation, and the ones who don't won't suddenly be motivated to vote because of it.
What it is useful for, though, is telling voters they missed out on the money because they didn't show up to vote, and now the Democrats are a) not giving them that money and b) raising taxes and making you pay more and blah blah blah.

It’s always the same playbook. Money flows like water right before elections, then disappears.
4
u/RustyKn1ght 1d ago
Keep in mind, that Trump has now thrice told that money is coming directly to voters and it still hasn't materialized. Closest thing that did happen was that Trump administration had to pay back tariff money....to american business when the US supreme court struck them down, but consumers didn't get anything.

u/DiscussTek 1d ago
Democrats have such negative growth, that they are overwhelmingly donor states, thanks to Republican's needy positive growth.

u/_jump_yossarian 1d ago
A normal reporter would have said "what the fuck are you talking about?" to that nonsensical reply.
3
u/Cortexan 1d ago
The democrats should promise the same if they win.
The democrats actually can’t do it until after the election, which means it wouldn’t be illegal - it’s not a bribe, it’s a policy action they need to be in power to affect. But more importantly, the democrats promising to do so would take all the influence out of slumps “promise”.
flump then only has two options:
- issue the dividend before the election, ensuring he’s the one giving it out and not them
- block the dividend issued by the democrats after the election
In any case, we aren’t getting the $5000. But might as well call clumps bluff now and force him to be the obvious bad guy.
5
u/Creative_Tone_9241 1d ago
This is the president trying to bribe an entire country to influence the election. It’s super illegal and would never be allowed. Good thing he has no intention of ever sending any checks just like all the other checks he promised. À sane country would call this election interference ànd hsve him removed for even floating the idea of it

This is just a front for when Elon changes the votes again. This way Trump can claim his dividend offer drew out massive crowds of republican voters.

u/Arejhey311 1d ago
So if they win, do we all get the full $12k ($5k Doge, $2k tariff rebate, $5k bribe) in one shot?

Crazy how this is illegal. And basically, what Elon got in trouble for as well. But who cares, right? Let's do it again.
TITLE 18 US 597: Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote or to vote for or against any candidate; and
Whoever solicits, accepts, or receives any such expenditure in consideration of his vote or the withholding of his vote-
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

If the US is taking corruption notes from third world countries, take note that they handout money BEFORE the election.
2
u/IngloriousMustards 1d ago
That answer is literal nonsense. ”Why not pay right now?”, ”Because democrats can’t do it”.
WTF is going on in that weetart brain of his? What did he think the question was?

u/MessagingMatters 1d ago
Because Trump knows Republicans will lose the House so it's a phony, empty promise.

u/hache-moncour 1d ago
Don't worry, no actual money has appeared or will appear. A lot more of it will mysteriously vanish though, that's for certain.

I'm glad that most republicans are detecting the lie, but the ironic part is that this won't help them realize that everything else he says and has said is also a lie

The saddest part about this whole thing is there will be people who actually believe this.... it's incredible.

u/Hadleys158 1d ago
The "$5000" will be to the value of some bullshit tRump crypto coin, that will then rapidly devalue to nothing.

u/curmudgeon55 1d ago
“Promising money” is what appears before elections. The money actually appears … never. 🙄

u/Morgannin09 1d ago
$5000 after the election, Iran war ends after the election, everything gets affordable again after the election, only if you vote for us. And it only happens after it's too late to realize we lied about all of it.

u/Worldly-Economics770 1d ago
Looks like he's copying India at every turn right from his political campaign strategy from before his election too!

Do you remember all of the other payments he promised? He didn't deliver on any of them, and he won't on this one either. Not that they'll win anyway!

Why are people treating this obvious play for attention as though there was anything behind it?
1
u/Brilliant-Book-503 1d ago
Like so much else this administration does,, it's fractally wrong.
It's a scummy bribe attempt.
He won't actually send the money.
If he did send the money, it would be economically terrible. Stimulus has it's place to keep economies moving in certain circumstances, but at a moment we're already experiencing painful inflation, with a soaring deficit, spending for the war nobody wants, DOGE having gutted the effectiveness of government, not saving an actual penny and costing us more short medium and long term, is the absolutely wrong time to print a shitload more money.
And it contradicts everything the party and MAGA constantly say about the role of government , inflation, corruption and on and on.
You could give it every possible benefit of the doubt beyond reasonability and there simply isn't a way it isn't stupid, immoral and self contradictory. It's just dumb on so many levels.
1
u/Peaurxnanski 1d ago
The part that causes me so much despair is just the stupidity.
Never mind the fact that he's dangled these checks in front of everyone, what, like a half dozen times now? And yet they still act like this is anything other than another lie.
Never mind that.
Never mind the fact that these same people are breathlessly going on about "muh socialism and muh communism" but are celebrating the government redistribution of wealth like this.
Never mind that as well.
Never mind that these same people are constantly lamenting the national debt and budget deficits, while cheering on the BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL and it's $4 trillion addition to the debt, let's toss in $5,000 checks to every adult in America and make it an even $5.5 trillion.
Never mind.
Never mind the fact that they literally elected Trump to stop inflation, and this would blow inflation through the roof.
Let's just forget all that. No need to stand on principle. Their cult leader has spoken. All knees must bend.
What a bunch of absolute wierdo bellend morons.
