I was in California, unemployed thanks to the dotcom crash and my roommate woke me up to tell me one of the towers had collapsed.
I was taking a C+ class at College of Marin and the guy who sat next to me would have been near the top of one of the towers with his co-workers, but because of the class he’d gotten permission to fly out to the meeting on the 11th rather than the 10th. Only he and his boss, who was looking for parking after having gotten doughnuts when the first plane hit, survived from his company.
