I was in 7th grade, homeroom. My teacher had the tv on in the corner and it was just silent. No one talked, we just watched trying to figure out what was happening. Not too long later my mom (a local govt employee at the time) had left work and came and picked me up from school. She was terrified. We lived in the Bay Area, and she heard about the plane that was bound for SF and left work immediately to pick us up. I’ll never forget seeing the footage on the news when the towers collapsed.
For me it was homeroom (before official 1st period) around 7:20am PT when my teacher turned on the tv. By the time we had got to school the South tower had already collapsed, we saw the North tower collapse in class.
