Literally how I woke up on my birthday, turning 18 yrs old, on my first morning of boot camp.

11

u/Capital_Increase_242 23h ago

At least we got paid to be there. These clowns are paying for this crap. Man I loved and hated infantry school (it had its ups and downs) but I sure as hell wouldn’t pay for that shit.

2

u/trains0647 20h ago

I agree completely and it’s quite funny to me to think about how they paid to be there

2

u/enurkul 7h ago

I instructed recruits once, I found no reason to be a cunt and my proudest moment was one guy coming up to me on "graduation day", shaking my hand and saying "thanks for making this a tolerable experience".

I did do one rant, someone lost gear, and how that rambling, long speech concocted in my brain I don't know, I had to hold myself together to not laugh at it. It was so stupid, but it worked, also because it was a Friday and people really wanted to go home.

u/MicroEconomicsPenis 1d ago edited 1d ago

“Agoge” (the thing on the wall of the gym) was ancient Spartan nobility training (largely military in nature). It was considered (by Ancient Greek standards) to be needlessly violent and homosexual. They would begin at a young age and continue into their 20s; the guys in their 20s would rape the teens. They would beat each other and encourage the young boys to use violence against their classmates, and there would of course be Spartan state propaganda taught as well. The noble class would regularly terrorize the slave class (just randomly cruelly killing people, for example) for seemingly no reason other than to create unrest.

Anyways, I’m just sharing what I learned about this part of Spartan history. I fully agree with you, as a man myself, if I thought getting yelled at and reamed were to make me a better man, I would join the military.

4

u/Appropriate-Link-701 1d ago

Do you have a link to this? I had no idea teens were raped by the upperclassmen. Weird.

5

u/MicroEconomicsPenis 1d ago

No link, unfortunately, because I learned this years ago in college. I believe it is described in an account from Plutarch so you can likely find that online.

Now something I’ll admit about Spartan history in general is that it is very speculative… everything you read about it should be taken with a grain of salt because ancient Sparta had a lot of opponents that wrote a lot and the Spartans themselves didn’t seem to encourage writing and had a very secretively organized government. From what I understand, they saw the rest of the world as lesser people so they didn’t really feel the need to explain how Sparta was organized or write it down for any future generations. So a lot of what I learned about them was polemic in nature and written some decades or even hundreds of years after it took place. But that’s also basically what the people that run this program would know about it too, and they are apparently intending to emulate it.

4

u/tomster2300 22h ago

Well said. Spartans were hated by other Greeks so there was definitely a healthy sprinkling of misinformation being written/spoken, not unlike today. We’re only human after all.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/cyberlexington 20h ago

According to the podcast Our Fake History, a lot of Sparta is considered myth or exaggeration.

Except everything they went on in the Agoge. That's considered to be true. Including the pedastry

6

u/Odd-Scientist-2529 1d ago

how did you not know this?

TLDR - homosexuality is a modern construct. Sociologically we currently define our sexuality with reference to the gender/sex of the person we are attracted to. Though the ancient Greek times, and also Medieval Europe, sexuality was defined by what you like to do or have done to you - whether you were penetrative or receptive. It did not matter with whom it was with.

In ancient Greek culture, powerful men who had the sexual preference of being penetrative would do so with anyone they had a social hierarchy over (women or teen boys).

Its hard to wrap ones mind around - the sexual preference is in the act, not the person that the act is with.

Source:

https://www.academia.edu/289957/One_Hundred_Years_of_Homosexuality

5

u/Survivedthekoolaid 1d ago

The same issue is found within biblical constructs of what "homosexuality" is. Over time the sin of raping other men became conflated with 2 people mutually having sex.

4

u/Odd-Scientist-2529 23h ago

exactly. It was a sin to "top" men who were visitors / guests / travelers in particular

2

u/Ok_Feedback2407 13h ago

Bigot Christians will still use the Bible to condemn homosexuality, even though EVERY passage in Leviticus before the famous one of "man shall not lay with man" had to do with incest and pederasty, NOT what consenting adult men do.

“It’s not gay if you are on top.” Is still a pretty common attitude across the Mediterranean.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/BusElectronic4225 1d ago

That is genuinely fascinating and a bit jarring when looking at today's western social construct

2

u/Odd-Scientist-2529 1d ago

It's very interesting. The aspect that we take as "unintentional" for lack of better word - the "I'm attracted to whoever I am attracted to" is considered the "driver" in our times. Back then, the attraction wasn't even on the radar. It was all about the sexual gratification.

Is that weird? Maybe not. Maybe people interacted with each other in a very different way.

Could you have a completely platonic relationship (according to the philosopher Platus) with an attractive person of the opposite sex if your interest in sexual intercourse had everything to do with the act, and nothing to do with the person the act was done with. I think in that case you can very easily have a platonic relationship with someone that is attractive.

2

u/Goldenknave777 1d ago

I dont know about rape but at the sanctuary of Artemis Orthia they would have two altars with cheeses and they would literally have to steal from the altars and beat the crap out of each other with some of the agoge kids ending up dead by the end or some flogged to death. Lacedaemon was no joke. You can hear more about this in the Spartans documentary by Bethany Hughes

u/reditisrunbypedos 21h ago

u/Severe-Passage-6426 1d ago

Yep. And Sparta was so xenophobic they basically died out due to population decline. Not to mention so selfish they nearly allowed Persia to conquer Greece during the 1st invasion because they had a super special festival the week of invasion.

Its hilarious how overly loved the Spartans were. On the other hand you have Thebes - a city state that overthrew the Spartan oligarchic yolk, established democracy, created the Boetian league (An alliance of city states where Thebes was a sort of protector and the other city states maintained a surprising level of autonomy), punched above their weight militarily numerous times, created the Sacred Band which easily outmatched the Spartans in basically every engagement (And fought to a man against Alexander the Great to the death - something even Alexander had to acknowledge after his crushing win) and gave us two of the most interesting, forward thinking leaders of the Greek Golden Age in Epaminondas and Pelopidas.

Pelopidas was such a badass that when the tyrant Alexander of Pherae invaded Thessaly the 2nd time he literally rode out alone (As there was an eclipse and most of his troops deserted), answering the call of the Thessalians to save them from authoritarian for the 3rd time and eventually being killed in battle.

And yes, Thebes by modern accounts would be considered a horrendous place to live during this time, but there is no comparison to be made on who made a more positive impact on the modern world - Sparta or Thebes. But in Sparta the homosexual acts were power v powerless and in Thebes it was normalized for homosexual pairings to be love bonds - so that is ACTUALLY gay and therefore these LARP'ers would scoff at any symbolic Theban symbolism.

It’s dudes with extreme anger issues and self esteem issues. They are going for therapy. And that is exactly what this program sells. Anger management, meditation, learning to emotionally connect with other people.

It is essentially exposure therapy. It’s literally the opposite of Alpha. They are teaching them to be passive and task oriented when everything around them is hostile.

These videos leave out the part of the camp where they sit around and do yoga and learn to meditate. Or where they hug each other and tell personal experiences and cry.

This camp is Fight Club combined. The cry sessions with Bob’s tits and the anger release fighting part in one weekend.

2

u/henryhumper 19h ago

None of these guys would make it through basic, nor could they handle the committment and sacrifice of actual military service. These guys pay to attend a class that's is designed to chisel them into "men". They've been misled and I almost feel for them. The new "alpha male" mythology often disguises insecurity as strength: control becomes leadership, dominance becomes masculinity, and emotional detachment becomes self-mastery. But genuine strength doesn't require constantly proving that you're the strongest man in the room. It's less about conquering others and more about becoming grounded enough that you no longer need their submission, admiration, or validation. Empathy, love, devotion, and patience are the attributes that make us strong men. These boys crumble under any real adversity and strain.

If I wanted to spend $18k to get yelled at I'd still be married to my ex-wife.

u/robby1051a 1d ago

i promise you these people take this class and go out into the world over confident and get beat up in a parking lot outside of a bar... within a week

2

u/santropy 1d ago

2

u/GhostOfJonasVenture 1d ago

I mean 18k, roids aren’t free

u/s4burf 1d ago

Beta boy meet up

2

u/UpperYoghurt3978 1d ago

Go into the military and get paid to get the same treatement lol.

2

u/Fabulous-Elk-8297 1d ago

Why pay that much and allow recording/posting of video at all? This all just seems fake to me.

u/Own-Raisin5849 1d ago

I actually think man camps for younger dudes is a pretty cool idea, but maybe teach useful skills, like survival skills, technical and engineering skills, etc

Can anybody explain to me in simple terms how the fuck this is supposed to make you an alpha? I think there's an argument to be made that this could actually do the opposite.

So like, what, you get called a bitch and a f****t so many times that it just like awakens this inner alpha demon in you? Like what the fuck is this shit lmao

How insecure do you have to be to spend $10k plus to sleep in a gym and get yelled at by assholes?

2

u/EvenPossible5918 1d ago

Did alpha leader skip leg day?

2

u/BolaViola 1d ago

Just join the military

2

u/Swimming-Talk4859 1d ago

What a rip. Military will do just as much if not more for free lol

2

u/JakeHelldiver 1d ago

And they pay you.

Is this supposed to resemble selection??? The soldiers that go through this do it for a reason. What is their reason for doing this. The mind boggle.

Why is it always primarily white men who attend these? 😆

Do they know they can get paid to go to boot camp?

2

u/Arkenhaus 1d ago

Are these the guys that washed out of boot and think this is what the teachable moment was? /smirk

Manosphere MAGA betas pretending to be wannabe alphas.

And even worse, the United Nations World Food Program can give a meal to starving human for just .43 cents. That's 41,860 meals they could have provided to the hungry for each $18K spent being berated.

These simps are embarrassing to real men and humans in general.

When is the anal portion of the program?

2

u/RandO_o 1d ago

Just like religious people that need their religious books to tell them how to live morally, if you need these guys to tell you how to be a man or a better father you’ll never truly have it in you to be one. Being a man and a good father comes from listening to those around you and having empathy. Not separating yourself from your family to be water logged at the beach at 5am. That shit just gives you a false sense of bravado and probably more issues for your family when you return.

Better to join the military and get actual perks from a real man/system

2

u/CES0108 1d ago

Somebody with lots of expendable cash and actual training in martial arts or ex military or w.e should join up, just to put 3 of these dork leaders into a pretzel for funsies, lol.

Or every true badass of the world should start calling them out to a fun little exhibition match. Might tarnish their reputation and stop these retards from joining.

Then again.. it kinda just seems like a gay cult for men with too much money. I bet there's a whole segment/class where they talk about how the Spartans and Samurai tickled each others balls and had gay sex. There's nothing more manly than dude on dude cornholing.

2

u/Creative-Ad-1819 18h ago

We could start a gofundme and send John Mcphee, lol...I'd pitch in for that and pay money to watch a 24/7 livestream of it.

2

u/sportsdude77 23h ago

Would be funny if some MMA champ just came out of nowhere and took out the “alpha” and watch these other losers cry that they spent all their money for some dork to turn them “alpha”

2

u/Chaotic-Convergence 23h ago

Why would any human let themselves be in the presence of such attention seekers?

2

u/Youngpookie 21h ago

Notice the demographic of all these goobers who need assistance to become a man, you really cant make this up

2

u/Classic-Exchange-511 19h ago

What happens when someone gets sick of this and beats the shit out of this dude

2

u/Impossible_Ad7875 19h ago

I can’t believe there are so many dudes with such fucked up lack of confidence and self respect that they pay other dudes to do this to them. Pathetic.

2

u/st_jasper 19h ago

This isn’t Alpha school. This is Asshole school.

2

u/DreTheGreat2122 19h ago

Sad excuse for men. "Alpha males" preys on the insecurities of weak, lost men.

2

u/OpeningReputation252 19h ago

If they’re dumb enough to sign up hurrah! 🥳 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

2

u/uknow_es_me 17h ago

Nothing more alpha than paying another man to be your alpha

2

u/cwk415 4h ago

I mean he's not wrong ...
