In a lot of videos like this people claim definite brain damage only for someone to link an article that says they're released from hospital same day with a mild concussion.

Those arenā€™t mutually exclusive.

A concussion is going to involve brain damage, the scope of it can vary. But generally speaking itā€™s a bad thing to get your brain knocked around. One of the biggest issues for brain damage in sports is ā€œsub concussive impactsā€ like getting jabbed in boxing or hitting a soccer ball with your head. Those small moments add up, because brain injuries take a long time to heal and any further impact makes it exponentially worse.

And sometimes people die from one good hit to the head. Itā€™s not a sure thing.

One of my favorite comedians, Drew Lynch, actually got a concussion from a softball

Hit him in the throat which caused him to collapse and hit his head on the ground ultimately resulting in a concussion,TBI plus a neurogenic stutter

He was trying to become an actor prior but his stutter closed that door so he turned to comedy for therapy

Wound up on AGT, got the Golden Buzzer from Howie on his first go and ultimately placed 2nd in S10

It's not so bad anymore but dude's had it rough

He got lucky on being able to pivot his career path & recover the way he did

  1. you can 100% catch a murder or manslaughter charge from hitting someone consistantly over and over again when they very obviously no longer pose a threat to you
  2. he didnt actually swing, it could be argued this is assualt on the guy doing the punching

He did swing, just didn't commit, he made that guy feel threatened, so he did what he had to to be safe, this absolutely is self defense, you dont know what bro has on him to hurt you, id punch the same amount

That's not how it works. If you were to motion to me like you're going to swing and attack me, it's reasonable to assume an assault is about to happen. If the person hits you, it's guaranteed to be self-defense, sure. But if they swing at you and miss? It's still self defense. And with a video like this? Easy enough to prove.

You can incapacitate your aggressor and still be considered self defense, because you need to be able to get away, thats the point of defense, to be safe, the amount of punches is not considered, he did what he felt he had to to be safe, dont fake swing on people if you dont wanna get rocked

Murder is premeditated, this was not. The dude reacted in the moment. You can say his reaction was extreme and reckless, but that makes it manslaughter, not murder.

It's a felony in most states to keep hitting someone after they are down and defenseless like that in a fight. I have a buddy who got into a bar fight in Seattle and found out the hard way.

Really fucked up his life in a matter of minutes.

Very well could be brain dead with that much trauma, 100% permanent cerebral damage. That much force on someone out cold is insane. There's a reason they stop MMA fights when someone goes down. It's considered a bitch move to do that on top of it.

That's not what's happening here though. You're sitting there comfy at home with 100% awareness of what the situation was which is why you're using words like "deserved".

The guy throwing punches isn't punishing the dude, he isn't thinking "you deserve this"... In his mind, a random stranger just tried to attack him and he's not stopping until he knows he's safe.

Those are 2 very different things.
