Agonal breathing is a severe medical emergency characterized by abnormal, involuntary gasping, snorting, or labored breathing. It is not true breathing, but rather a brainstem reflex that occurs when the brain is completely deprived of oxygen. It is a critical sign that a person is near death and most commonly indicates that they are in cardiac arrest

Google it for y’all.

Yikes. 😳

u/DerpyMD 12h ago

This is not agonal breathing

2

u/Wise_Ad_253 3h ago

👍🏼

Sounds more like agonizing pain breathing

u/Logical-Hyena8260 15h ago

Yeah the dude was in the right to rock his shit, but absolutely whaling on him like that for 20 seconds is INSANE. Dude is most definitely dead from that.

u/Either_Coconut 14h ago

The trouble with the adrenaline dump is it shuts down the logical part of the brain. It might also shut down the ability to recognize "this person's no longer a threat, it's OK to stop hitting them now".

I think the only thing that snapped the guy back to reality was the cameraman hollering at him. Before that, he was on autopilot. Logic and reason were deactivated.

Dude got lunged at and started trying to beat a dude to death. That isn’t a normal reaction, that’s just violent behavior. In no way is the dude justified for throwing 15+ full force punches to the head of someone laid out on the concrete. It isn’t difficult at all to realize when somebody is down, you only keep hitting if you’re trying to do as much harm as you can. That guy deserves legal punishment

2

u/Hot_Demand_6263 9h ago

Understandable.

But not every individual is stable, rational or sane.

1

u/CommieDrifter 2h ago

exactly why they should be behind bars

1

u/BummFoot 1h ago

Or you know, not fucked with while they are just walking about their day.

1

u/CommieDrifter 1h ago

both can be wrong at the same time, crazy concept i know

2

u/Squirt_Angle 9h ago

Nah fuck that guy. Fight or flight kicks in when you think your life is in danger. 100% justified.

2

u/Glum_Judgment6232 7h ago

Nope, using reasonable force to defend yourself is fine, but this is way beyond reasonable force and would have you up in court in a lot of places

1

u/AvalancheOfOpinions 2h ago

Unless you're a cop.

2

u/tottinhos 9h ago

By your logic he could have killed him and been justified

2

u/Designer-Effective-2 9h ago

I'm not sure if you pointing this out is supposed to be revelatory or something but we already have video evidence that we co-exist with violent shitheads and plenty of comments to back that up.

It is a normal reaction of someone who has been jumped before. I had a buddy that was jumped, got beat hard, and since then he was always hyper vigilant when we went out. Would often look back behind him if we were walking downtown, etc.

You sound very young and sheltered if you:

a) take the offender's side which clearly showed intent to jump and harm someone. I mean you didn't even consider the guy could have had a knife or other weapon

b) you don't know what PTSD is or that people can grow up in violent neighborhoods and cities like Memphis. You don't know what this man has dealt with before

c.) adrenaline takes over, especially if you felt like your life is in danger, you're just wanting the threat to be over and your body doesn't want to take any chances.

So you sound young and live in a conformable area where there is low crime rate.

That's absolutely asinine to me that you care more about the guy getting beat, almost like you yourself lunge at people or have tried jumping people before.

You're not even a justice warrior. You're just an asshole with your line of thinking and taking the time to try to villainize a victim.

Edit: I saw you post in r/teenager so I was right.

Thing is, there's a lot of traumatized and damaged people out here in the world. Trauma, especially in childhood during key brain development, causes screwy wiring in the brain. It changes what the brain perceives as a threat, and shapes what the brain does with threat.

All of that threat processing* happens faster than you can blink. Your cognitive brain parts are activated in maybe double that amount of time.

So was the guy's reaction violent? Absolutely. But was he in control of that? Probably not.

ETA dropped words

2

u/Glum_Judgment6232 7h ago

Wouldn't work on a jury. This is unreasonable force

1

u/EniNeutrino 7h ago

That's probably true, and lines have to be drawn somewhere. My point isn't whether he would get away with it legally, it's more food for thought. Another good reason not to FAFO with strangers, and hopefully a reason to not write someone off as a person of violent character without some consideration.

An educated and nuanced comment on reddit?

1

u/d8_thc 2h ago

This "but their brain so they aren't responsible" is an extremely slippery slope.

You can take this all the way, can you not? Growing up in a racist household? Getting abused and then abusing people yourself?

People are responsible for their actions, period.

Lindsay Clancy included.

1

u/CommieDrifter 2h ago

he can do that processing in prison from the comfort of a jailcell

2

u/ReturnOfTheKeing 10h ago

Entire fight lasted 10 seconds, why you gotta lie?

1

u/Logical-Hyena8260 10h ago

Me when hyperbole

2

u/OpTicSkYHaWk 4h ago

Yeah, that's not self defense anymore. That's murder or attempted murder

1

u/Sorry-Bluejay3658 13h ago

Krav maga probably...

1

u/No_Criticism_5861 2m ago

100%.  This guys gonna be going to prison for this one

0

u/fake_user_34 14h ago edited 7h ago

Yeah, watching this and reading the comments and I see a lot of people on this thread do not understand what they saw. Yeah, one punch was justified, that beat down while he was on the floor was not. If he dies, that is fucking murder, already attempted murder.

Edit: the amount of you justifying murder is crazy

u/DollarLate_DayShort 13h ago

Fuck it. The prankster had NO clue what kind of day/week this guy had been having. Don’t pull stupid shit like this and then expect random people to show some kind of restraint.

-1

u/Regi0 13h ago

So I see you want to live in the reality where someone feeling threatened at all justifies them actively trying to murder you

You need help

4

u/DollarLate_DayShort 13h ago

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

-1

u/Regi0 13h ago

You better pray you never accidentally trigger one of these people, since you'll either be dead or stuck with severe brain damage

4

u/Over_Rule_4961 13h ago

I'm not a little bitch who goes around pretending to attack people for internet videos, soooo, I think I'll be okay

4

u/Dread_Pirate_Robots 13h ago

You better pray you never accidentally trigger one of these people

Most of us haven't, and never will.

Most of us aren't shitty tiktok pranksters.

I can't help but feel that these two facts are related.

0

u/tijolus523 8h ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a guy who does this is not someone who'll only fight for a good reason. I'm not sure anyone here has ever been in a fight, but it's not exactly normal or even expected for you to beat your opponent to death after he's already knocked out.

4

u/porn_sub_lurker 11h ago

The guy in the video wasn't accidentally triggered. He was intentionally provoked with the immediate threat of violence, an assault. And he responded how some people do. Notice he didn't touch the camera guy even though he was still amped up on adrenaline. I'd like to live in a world where people don't need a fucking beat down like this in order to leave random strangers alone.

-1

u/Regi0 11h ago

I never said the guy in the video instigated that altercation accidentally.

-2

u/Swimming_Agent_1063 12h ago

Ok Kyle Rittenhouse 👍

4

u/ReturnOfTheKeing 10h ago

Rotten house is far more similar to the guy "pranking" than the guy being "pranked"

2

u/Unipiggy 13h ago

We already live in that reality, have you seen police officers in America?

1

u/richardawkings 11h ago

First punch was understandable, nothing after he hit the ground was justified... but... it was so easily avoidable I'm gonna say the prankster is at least partially to blame because it would not have happened if he did not fuck around.

It's like my motorbike buddies say when they are riding, you can be right and still get killed. Being right isn't always enough to be safe. You need to look oit for others to.

0

u/Sana-F16 12h ago

I hope you like prison.

2

u/daboo912 12h ago

For me that could go either way. The old conversation about is it moral to shoot someone robbing you in the middle of the night. What you are saying I completely agree with. I wish he would of stopped way sooner. The other side is what if the guy getting beat has a miraculous wake up followed by a surge of adrenaline. He has already shown aggression. Depending on what the jackhammer guy has been thru, where his adrenaline is, basic instinct, maybe even basic training, you neutralize the threat and he did so. Part of the huffing and puffing while beat wheelchair guy might of been him being mad he had to do it? I've seen plenty of fights where after the winner cries, professional boxers do that all the time too. I brought up the robber in the middle of the night thing. I think we are on the same page. I would never shoot or purposely seriously injure someone over my TV or whatever with a clear head. My training and what I've been thru in life along with me not being jacked says to do the exact opposite because if I don't strike first and do it til it's done, I'm going to in some serious shit if I just tried to fuck up someone who was bold enough to break into my home but I didn't finish the job. When not in threat it's easier to say what you would want to do or how other people should handle things.

1

u/Innisairre 13h ago

I understand that it's impossible to know what a stranger has been through and how they'll react to a perceived attack.

Based on the way that guy reacted, I would speculate he's been in fear of his life before. Maybe he's a vet, maybe he dealt with domestic violence or gang violence or got jumped & nearly killed before.

It is an absolute tragedy i f the prank guy does, but it was a 100% preventable one. I'm not going to call the guy who beat him a murderer without knowing his history.

1

u/Unipiggy 13h ago

The exact same vibe I got.

This guy has history.

1

u/Zestyclose_Tip_5861 12h ago

I have never heard of that type of justification to distinguish if someone is a murderer or not, wild.

1

u/Innisairre 1h ago

You've never heard of manslaughter?

0

u/shitfucker90000 10h ago

maybe you shouldnt fuck around for internet points

0

u/psychophant_ 14h ago

Lmfao

The amount of Reddit doctors here is incredible.

2

u/Logical-Hyena8260 14h ago

Who tf is claiming to be a doctor, dude was throwing his entire soul into those punches at his head against concrete, he got over 12 solid punches in before the camera pans up, and he was still going. Dude is not walking away from that.

1

u/psychophant_ 14h ago

If dude died it would be all over Reddit that a tik toker doing a prank died while doing said prank. Bro didn’t die. Therefore all the armchair experts here are wrong.

3

u/cherishedone2 14h ago

Died no

Brain damage? Yes

0

u/Logical-Hyena8260 14h ago

Aight man. If youre really that happy to make the distinction between dead and permanently brain damaged, possibly brain dead, go for it. Condescending as fuck, obnoxious as fuck, but go for it.

1

u/EmmyWeeeb 11h ago

It’s from a traumatic brain injury
