At least it's an actual POV

u/goose_gladwell 6h ago

Progress!

37

u/Odd_Wait_5628 3h ago

My kids say POV out loud and then act something out and i just 🤦‍♂️

7

u/homeinthesky 1h ago

To be fair’s…… it is from their point of views.

0

u/Kicooi 28m ago

I am once again reminding people that there are also second and third person POVs in storytelling, and that “POV” doesn’t necessarily have to mean first person.

0

u/TwitterUserRT 5m ago

POV generally means first person though

67

u/VodkaMargarine 5h ago

Unfortunately due to the proliferation of these paedophile glasses I think we'll see a lot more actual POV footage in the future

3

u/LifeAwaking 12m ago

I’m sorry, the what now?

-53

u/drdreadz0 4h ago

Cmon now lol, didn't have to say it

1

u/Zamaster420 1m ago

Hey now it was the proper use of proliferation.

286

u/KeeKyieTheMorris 9h ago

What’s the little things in the first police officers hat?

259

u/Killerbrownies997 9h ago

As another commenter said, they’re called sprouts, but they’re just a part of music festival culture. You trade em, give em out, etc. just a fun little thing to start conversations and whatnot

2

u/HuntedWolf 25m ago

A friend of mine came over to Europe this summer for a festival and brought a bunch of these, they’re not a big thing here

91

u/Daraca 9h ago

They call em sprouts. People will put them on cops/security/paramedics/eachother. It’s a gentle way to PLUR that doesn’t require more elaborate gestures

77

u/Alex_jaymin 9h ago

PLUR?

101

u/OxycontinEyedJoe 9h ago

It's rave shit. Stands for peace love unity respect. Like the little bracelets they trade and stuff.

24

u/Sp4mDestroyer 5h ago

My buddy took me to a rave and gave me a bunch of bracelets to trade and basically showed me how it works, except it was peace, love, unity. You end up chatting with someone you think is chill, you make the peace sign with your hands and touch it together (peace), make half of a heart shape and create a whole one together (love), then lock your palms together by intertwining your fingers (unity), and then you keep it locked while you slide each other's bracelets to the other person. Granted I only went to one rave 6-7 years ago, but I've never heard of respect nor have I ever seen someone do anything for it. I wonder what the gesture is.

For my first time I had a blast, and I loved how everyone was chill and friendly. Pretty interesting culture. Then again, I went to one in Korea and never been to one in the US where I hear it's ruined by all the rich kids and everyone just wants to get drugged and fuck each other lol.

13

u/Wompatuckrule 4h ago

Probably added the R because it kept confusing all the people who had worked in a supermarket and thought it stood for Price Look Up.

14

u/RealFirstName_ 2h ago

I brought a barcode scanner to my first rave and felt embarrassed when I realized that I misunderstood PLU, until I realized that a handheld laser at a rave also made me lots of friends.

1

u/Enginerdiest 41m ago

two R's in a lot of places these days, second R being "responsiblity"

4

u/Leaf_on_the_wind87 4h ago

There definitely are festivals like that, think Coachella type stuff. In my experience almost every festival in the states I’ve been to is pretty much how you described.

6

u/Narpity 3h ago

Respect is the mutual exchange of the bracelets (candy)

1

u/fthepats 4h ago

Works the exact same in the US with the bracelet trading at raves.

1

u/DiMiTri_man 28m ago

I’ve been going to raves for over 15 years. It’s always been PLUR with the respect for the entire time I’ve been.

During the handshake, unity is your hands flat against each other then respect is intertwining the hands to trade kandi.

1

u/Luci-Noir 28m ago

That’s really nice. 😃

2

u/Mean-Experience-7933 1h ago

In my rave days it was PLURR. Peace, love, unity, respect, responsibility. Good times.

1

u/Doomgloomya 7h ago

Shkrt answer ways to show you think they are cool, look cool, act cool so on and so forth.

You bring good vibes so to speak.

Buddy and his wife took me to my first festival awhile back. Their kid designed our totem with led “show me your kitties!” And pictures of their cats. Saw wayyyy more than just cute cats.

I'm not saying I re-wound it like a dozen times to figure out... but I thought it was some of those shorts/pants that you wear that make it look like you have your ass hanging out on like the 10th watch.

If they do t prank their friends with these it's a wasted opportunity

257

u/jdmoffitt11775 9h ago

In my experience cops are like everyone else.. some are nice.. some are assholes. Now if you get pulled over by the nice ones just cooperate and try to get everything over quickly before the assholes show up. Chances are there is a bored motherfuckr that just wants to get in on whatever is going on. That is when you have to explain how the large hooka in your trunk is just a pottery project.

86

u/andy11123 9h ago

I read that as large hooker and was very confused

23

u/RielyRyan 9h ago

You don't bring hookers with you to pottery class?

8

u/siamlinio 9h ago

The hooker is pottery

8

u/alendit 8h ago

Call girl!

No, Cyril, when they're dead they're just hookers.

2

u/chahlie 3h ago

If I wanted a grandchild, I'd scrape all your previous mishaps into a pile and knit it a onesie

0

u/Piemaster113 4h ago

Careful, you're in the....Danger Zone

3

u/NewsofPE 8h ago

you see, if you just think of the large hooker in the trunk as a ceramic vase for just one second for me

2

u/jdmoffitt11775 9h ago

To be fair.. it could go either way. I was pretty drunk back then.

3

u/usinjin 9h ago

JUST came here to comment the same 🤣

8

u/djasonwright 1h ago

Cop shouldn't be in your trunk without a warrant.

5

u/Orrissirro 4h ago

Music fest cops are usually chill because it's typically an incentive for them to work the event, that's at least how it was with the cops at Electric Forest. The ones we talked to there were just as excited to be there as some of the regular fest goers.

2

u/Luci-Noir 21m ago

My stepdad was a cop and when we’d be in the mall people were constantly stopping and talking to him. He’d do security in the arcade on fridays and it was the same.

I went with them on career day as a senior and it was just them talking to people, nothing crazy, no mistreatment. It seemed like a pretty good job but over the past few years it’s become cool to shit on them so a lot have quit.

6

u/Sunyataisbliss 8h ago edited 8h ago

It varies by state. Just watch how an Idaho cop handles a vulnerable youth getting caught with a half gram of meth, vs an Oregon one. Sometimes the good cops get pushed out by the other bad ones, too.

-1

u/USDXBS 7h ago

Now if you get pulled over by the nice ones just cooperate and try to get everything over quickly before the assholes show up.

And if the nice ones refuse to do anything about the assholes, they are all assholes.

1

u/I_Am_That_Was 17m ago

Idk, working in EMS has shown me how shitty cops are on average, at least where I live.

If you're some white girl at a festival where the cops are getting incentive pay, I'm sure they're fine.

When you see these same kinda dudes show up to an overdose in a low income neighborhood, you'd be disgusted and horrified at how they act and the shit they say to each other when they think nobody is looking.

-5

u/snek99001 8h ago

Yeah except everyone else doesn't have the legal authority to take your life cause they felt like it. So it's actually really bad for cops to be like "everyone else". Standards should be much, much higher.

6

u/NewsofPE 8h ago

I don't think you care much about if someone has legal authority to kill you after you're dead, being killed by some random and a cop in essence means exactly the same thing

-3

u/LotusVibes1494 7h ago

What if you go to sleep alive, but wake up dead??

0

u/NewsofPE 7h ago

so you telling me that you can go to bed dead and wake up alive??

1

u/Know_the_rules 32m ago

One guy did.

1

u/shityplumber 2h ago

Even power-trip-riddled cops, if you get pulled over, just be nice and listen; they typically calm themselves down. Or, at the very least, you will get little to no energy from them. Even if they are 100% wrong, arguing will only make it worse.

1

u/Apli_Diud 20m ago

Remember to be white when following this advice!

1

u/godspareme 29m ago

In my experience cops are like everyone else..

Except with a statistically significant higher rate of domestic violence/abuse (as well as substance abuse).

Yes i can empathize with the traumas they deal with on a regular basis but that ends when they, as a person of authority and power, abuse someone.

-3

u/myusos 8h ago

agreed, you also got to identify which one they are. In this video see that alien bracelet and thing in his hat, Whimsy indicators. There was a high chance this cop was cool

-6

u/BlackRaspberryJammin 3h ago

They also have supervisors who review their bodycams and will ask them the hard questions. People should watch a few bodycam videos, most cops go through things per procedure. They know their boss and maybe a million other people will watch their video. What people used to claim were cops beating them up were usually cops trying to get them in handcuffs. It's is amazing how the fight goes out of people once their hands are cuffed. They still resist but with hands cuffed you are at a severe disadvantage. Also, the cops aren't cops usually because they want to fight. Most people I know who have actually been in fights, myself included, have injuries from fighting (I had finger broken and never bends quite the same, and a shoulder dislocation that recurred a lot afterwards) and only want to get their job done and go home. They also know that a lot of people just automatically hate them through no fault of their own. I was a nurse, well respected and thought helpful, just because people knew I was a nurse, kind of undeserved praise, while cops may have undeserved scorn.

26

u/musicaleffervescence 5h ago

theyre festival cops, a very rare breed.

9

u/bunnyfloofington 1h ago

Festival cops tend to be pretty chill ime. I've gone up to them while very obviously tripping balls and asked them where to find water. They were so kind and pointed me in the right direction and made sure I knew exactly where to go. I've only seen them not be chill when it comes to people dealing more dangerous stuff like Ketamine or Heroin at festivals.

2

u/musicaleffervescence 1h ago

for SURE. every festival cop ive seen is usually decked out in sprouts and kandi. majority of festivals hire the right cops that are trained in the correct deescalation measures. bonnaroo used to have horse cops and it was on the bingo card every year to pet a horse cop while tripping 😂😂😂.

the festivals in canada ive been to i can literally do bumps in the open. its amazing what decriminalization, hard reduction, and education can do. also really love that so many festivals have safe spaces and grounding zones. sober staff that are truly there to help and talk you through anything. always also have sunscreen, electrolytes, candy, feminine hygiene products. its really come a long way

1

u/Russell1113 49m ago

Is ketamine particularly dangerous? I've only done it the once. I know it has very bad long term effects on stuff like your bladder and is crazy addictive. Is it also easy to OD on? (I have lots of friends who do a LOT of k, so it's always just, been around, when we go fests)

2

u/bunnyfloofington 43m ago

I think it's the addictive quality that is the real danger to ketamine. Like people don't tend to become nearly as addicted to substances like weed or psychedelics. Plus you can still OD on ketamine whereas idk anyone who has OD'ed on weed or psychadelics.

1

u/Russell1113 39m ago

Yh, that was my experience with it. I had it once and basically realised I shouldn't have it again or it would fuck up my life. As someone who's kicked an addiction to smoking, I was craving for days after one try of it! 🤣

1

u/bunnyfloofington 6m ago

That really says something! I always just saw how others acted when they were on it and saw how they just became entirely immobilized/useless and decided that didn't seem like anything I should be experimenting with. I'm glad you didn't fall into the trap like others unfortunately have!

1

u/LifeAwaking 4m ago

It’s because of the small amount you need to OD. Last festival I was at years ago 8 people died because someone was selling Ketamine as Molly and the dosage on those are very different.

2

u/Ok-disaster2022 49m ago

They know their job is to respond to violence not arrest every person on something.

16

u/AlexHimself 5h ago

I did this gag over 5 years ago. https://imgur.com/a/6eguvq5

I had more fun with regular people because they wouldn't even look at me and they would just take it out of my hand and go disappear in the bathroom for a little while and then eventually come back upset 😆.

-9

u/OpTicSkYHaWk 5h ago edited 4h ago

Especially USSR cops /s

BTW communism will never work bc of human nature, some humans are psycho and corrupt. Bad people will always exist.

Without law enforcement, society breaks down into a caveman free for all. Lawlessness leads to those bad people abusing others, and taking power for themselves - often in mafia, gangster-like authoritarian fascist dictatorships.

The USSR, Cuba, China, etc turned into Communist dictatorships bc human nature. The best we can do is promote democracy and freedom and tolerance (and love most of all), and work together for each other while supporting the poor, the homeless, and yes the workers and their sacred rights. Unions, charities, groups. Stuff like Habitat for Humanity where people come together to build houses. I think that is wonderful and very social and loving in support of the less privileged classes who deserve respect.

What's a K?

37

u/aggriify 7h ago edited 7h ago

That'll be the 11th letter in the alphabet. It can be used to write words like ketamin.

Example sentence: It requires a lot of ketamin to run a company like SpaceX.

5

u/Parks1993 7h ago

Ketamine but in this case, a small letter K.

Cops generally are chill unless you're breaking the law 😲

53

u/ShyguyFlyguy 9h ago

You must not be american

48

u/cluelessdetectiv3 9h ago

I'm an American and they're always super nice to me. the secret trick is being white and living in a nice area

14

u/cagewilly 9h ago

I'm white, not in a nice area.  They are nice to me.  But I keep my cars registered and am always very polite.

8

u/SuperSlims 9h ago

This. Ive literally walked in front of them drunk AF crossing the street and they always just said to use the cross walk so I dont get hurt. Every time someone from another city says "dont speed or do X thing, the cops here are dicks", I end meeting the coolest ones and never have a problem.

Im also in Utah, so thats really it.

(The trick to dealing with most cops is shutting the fuck up, keeping your hands visible at all times and be fucking honest)

7

u/Electronic_Quote399 9h ago

You don't even have to be honest lol. Im a 4 time felon and I used to think it wasnt fair and they were out to get me. Until I actually stopped doing heinous illegal shit. Now they never fuck with me. Weird, right?

0

u/SuperSlims 9h ago

Nah. Even then, Honest is the best way. Got me out of two underage possession of a container over 2 liters tickets, and a massive pot charge, because I was in fact honest and let my lawyers do the talking. (I also took the pot charge to trail because the whole thing was bullshit. That helps a lot lol)

1

u/Dismal_Tangerine_493 9h ago

Utah is like 90% white

1

u/HeftyArgument 9h ago

is having unregistered cars a common practice over there?

4

u/cagewilly 6h ago
  1. Yes.  2. I'm referencing the fact that eliminating the most basic reasons to be pulled over makes life a lot easier.

1

u/Zoso03 9h ago

Casual racism and ignorance.

People must be pulled over because of their registration and nothing else is what's hes trying to say. I'm a person of colour but not Black and Ive been followed many times waiting for me to screw up to pull me over or just pull me over with the lamest excuses and then try to find other stuff. I'm still polite but that doesnt mean shit

10

u/UkNomysTeezz 9h ago

Bro they are generally chill in America too.

2

u/Tommyblockhead20 9h ago

Or are in a better off area of the US. Usually poorer and higher crime areas have worse funding despite police being more busy. Leads to worse candidates going for those positions, less community policing, more burnout and distrust of their community. Whereas police in richer better funded areas are generally a lot more chill.

8

u/Brvcx 9h ago

They are to me, too, here in the Netherlands.

We have plenty of people complaining about how cops are always treating them poorly and if that happens here, you are the problem.

6

-1

u/Law12688 2h ago

Name checks out

2

u/TimidDeer23 9h ago

One time we set off the burgler alarm by accident when entering our own house. When the cops pulled up and our dog wandered out to lazily and happily great them they pulled out their guns.

1

u/MinnieShoof 8h ago

... and then?

-6

u/TimidDeer23 8h ago

In my case they didn't shoot my dog, nor my mom who ran out screaming at him "don't shoot him" (we are white euro-decended americans). If you want to see a common situation where cops show up unwanted and slaughter dogs cause they "feel scared" here's one. https://youtu.be/aIW19QoiXbM?t=369

6

u/MinnieShoof 7h ago

So, you had a burglar alarm. Meaning you were legitimately fearful of thieves. And you tripped it. And the police responded. ... and you were surprised they were leery? And it isn't good enough that they did you nothing wrong ... you need to share your story so that you can share someone else's story of a time they did something sketchy and disobeyed instruction and a loved one got hurt?

-5

u/TimidDeer23 7h ago

Me and my family didn't break the law. My mother explained to the cop who were were. The police almost shot our dog. I very much doubt my parents would have installed a burgler alarm if they knew that a false positive meant the family (INCLUDING THE DOG) would get shot at.

5

u/MinnieShoof 7h ago

You didn't break the law and nothing bad happened to you. You had a burglar alarm get tripped and it was all hand-waved away by someone explaining. I bet if the alarm had gone off and it was a thief and the police didn't show up, or if they showed up and let the thief get away because they 'explained who they were' you'd be complaining that, instead of not having chill, the police were too chill/lackadaisical.

All so you can say that cops are not generally chill.

-2

u/TimidDeer23 6h ago

and if the cops had shot my dog, as they were preparing to do and sometimes actually do, surely you would agree with my point.

5

u/MinnieShoof 5h ago

What is your point? If you are trying to say that police are on edge and guarded and have lethal force options? Sure. Are you trying to say that some times you can explain your situation to the police? Sure. Are you saying that the made up police in your head have no chill? I guess they don't. They should probably stay in your head.

1

u/AvantGarde327 2h ago

-5

Lol there is no such thing as a good cop. You mess with the rich or the property of the rich and they will hit your head with a nightstick.

2

u/shityplumber 2h ago

I have watched white cops bend over backwards in rural red usa to help out ethnic people in a bad situation. They don't all suck. There are some bad apples and the media eats those stories up. All the years i did EMS they were almost always a good asset on scene. It was amazing to watch a person in a bad spot take a bad situation to something that could go nuclear and then watch the cops deescalate it.

-5

Oh, it's gotten worse??? God forbid they do their fucking jobs
