They’re both just based off the Ronin no?

Yeah, it's kind of like showing a character from Elden Ring, saying "This gave me deja vu," and then adding an image from any of the eight million pieces of media featuring a medieval knight in armor.

Yeah but it seems like they'll have similar roles in their respective stories too.
aka showing up out of nowhere and beating the MC nearly to death, sending them on a desperate mission to find a means to fight back while being actively hunted.

I thought of the Foot Ninja Elite from TMNT 2003, but yeah it's a pretty common look for ninja/samurai archetypes.

So happy that we're getting a new Metroid. The last one, Dread, was a great game too.

Are you trying to ba sing se Prime 4? Or did you legitimately forget about it?
Nobody would blame you if you did. It was such a stinker.

Did you forget that Prime is a completely separate timeline? Nobody would blame you if you did.

It is? I thought the prime series took place between Metroid 1 and 2?

I’m wrong, it is. I find it weird that all prime games fit between 1 and 2. It doesn’t really make sense to me

you know what? I'd love a Samurai Jack metroidvania game.

I'd love a Metroid movie/series directed and animated by Genndy Tartakovsky.

I’m glad so many made the exact same connection I felt when watching the trailer.

Wow I haven’t thought about those guys from Samurai Jack in ages. I remember thinking they’d make a cool toy with the way they’d transform.

Breaking: Samurai archetype wears Samurai hat.

If it makes you feel any better, Jack also barely survived the fight with the Ultrabots, and had to come back with some new power-ups.

Technically these guys are (Space) Ninjas. And that's not just a localization thing, they're called that even in Japan.

Also reminded me somewhat of the new Spiderman movie with the ninjas. Fighting ninjas as a trope never seems to get old lol

I love dread to death but definitely fucking with them harder than the emmis. Holy aura when she grabbed one of their swords

I’ve been surprised how many people are calling Samus a Doom Guy rip after the trailer when the opening was so clearly inspired by Samurai Jack.

u/reallygoodbee 13h ago
They're calling her a Doom Guy rip-off now.
I remember when Metroid Prime came out and she was a Master Chief rip-off.

u/Realsorceror Switch 13h ago
Yea it’s strange how often she gets compared to characters she predates. My best guess is there’s often a long ass time between games and new gen kids don’t know her. And a lot of her games are different genres from Doom and Halo.

I immediately thought about Embo from Star Wars Clone Wars. He's a bounty hunter that shows up a few times throughout the show
