Yeah this is all so dramatic lol. From everything I’ve seen a 7/10 seems warranted but like god damn why is a 7/10 being talked about like it’s the end of PlayStation or the biggest controversy in the world.
Cause it’s their most productive studio (4th game this gen) and a game that got hyped for years that reportedly cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make.
This isn’t quite as bad as if Naughty Dog dropped a 7/10 game but it’s close.
Uhm you know profits are computed after production cost is recouped right? So if Wolverine sells 4 million copies, they deduct the production cost, then compute for the profit sharing.
It does however feel like a lot of big developers and publishers are slowly distancing themselves more and more from Sony. Atlus for example broke it's exclusivity a few years back, and now instead has XBOX handle their reveals. And Capcom seems to be more interested in Nintendo and the PC market nowadays than their traditional close relationship with Sony. To me it feels like as well that the Xbox and Nintendo showcases generally have a larger variety of games on offer compared to Sony in recent years. Stuff like that does make me wonder if they are anticipating a shift in the market towards PC gaming, and Nintendo (mainly due to the Switch 2 also functioning as a handheld) during the next console generation (especially with the rumors that the PS6 will cost over a thousand bucks)
I'm not an expert on this however, it's just pure speculation on my part. And I could just be seeing things that aren't actually there
Yup. The days of the Sony cinematic over the shoulder movie games with light stealth mechanics and perk tree is dying. It was never briefly during the PS4 after the high people had after Uncharted and The Last of Us. But its just isn't really working like it used to. The genre variety that Sony used to pump out just isn't there anymore. The early days of the PS5 seemed fine for the most part, but most of their latest titles sans Astrobot has been kind of all the same. Pick it linear or open world, they are effectively the same tired divorced dad simulators.

This is kind of a sensational headline.
As annoying as Sony’s decisions are as of late, they’re doing fine, and will likely keep doing well.
Idk why there’s even a picture of Wolverine. One of their releases gets an average of 7/10 and people start freaking out… it’s kind of funny.
