My memory is a bit rusty on this - but if I remember correctly, the entire comic is basically about this girl Bitching about her boyfriend.

Ahh, so the guy is subjected to hearing her complaints rather than a pleasant date?

She doesnt like her boyfriend, finds him super boring that he talks abt his friends, family and what he likes. She then thinks about her dilemna, shes trapped in this rel because she doesnt know if she'll find another, cus before they were in a rel no one wanted to be in a rel with her so she gave up finding a partner before her guy had confessed. she only accepted him bec, in the words of the comic, he was her only "viable" option. She then reinforced this idea to herself. Then the comic ends with the boyfriend thinking to himself. "I lub my girlfriend."

woman complains that boyfriend isn't up to her standards, but is afraid that she doesn't meet others' standards so stays because it's her only option. it's very "woe is me" and paints her boyfriend in a horrible light simply because she's bored of him.
•
u/More_Exercise8413 1h ago
Moreover, it's almost like she is incredibly boring, and they share next to no interests, while he showers her with attention, she never made a point about her reciprocating it and returning it.
This might be a very Reddit aita take, but some people really do need to break up already. Or go to therapy. What they instead do is wallow in self-pity and obviously begging for sympathy online. Smh, sometimes it's hard to believe the median age of a redditor is near 30.

16 page comics about how girl rants about how she doesnt like her boyfriend because he's boring and dull but also doesnt wanna leave him because he's nice, treats her well, buys her stuff and also because she was rejected a lot and thinks he's her only option. Obviously doesnt communicate with him at all, and half of the comic is her self pity bs about "is this really what love is like" or "am i supposed to be okay with not being satisfied"

The girl in the comic is upset that her boyfriend doesn’t communicate with her that way she wants. She feels that he doesn’t pay attention to her or care about anything she tells him. She goes on to say he gives her gifts and pays for everything and tells her he wants to marry her but she’s not into him and feels bad that she can’t just suck it up and be happy.
But instead of doing the mature thing and recognizing that she isn’t compatible and breaking up for both their sakes and avoiding the resentment-she makes a comic about it and also draws him kind of ugly.
If the scenario is fake no harm no foul. But if this is a real life event and she put that out there before a breakup or even soon after? Yikes.

A girl made a comic about how she doesn't like her boyfriend because he's boring but stays with him because she has no other options while portraying him as short and ugly and herself as a cute anime girl.

Probably just the run of the mill women being physically incapable of loving a man.

u/Glad-Belt7956 5h ago
Wait i know you, you're the guy who needs to become friends with actually nice women. Trust me when i say that what you say is false (for many women), there is many nice ladies out there, you've just been extremely unlucky.

u/Chemical-State-1060 5h ago
Literally every conversation women have about men is about how much they detest them in one way or another. It's literally pointless to have them around, they either break your shit, or break you down.

u/the_boss_of_toys 5h ago
If thats every woman youve talked to, you might be the problem. My bestie let me borrow her 91 pathfinder when my 06 accent was down, lent me 100 bucks for a deposit and celebrated the fourth, my birthday, and has done much more as well as inviting me to her secret Santa. I can guarantee you that your either lying or basing your opinion off of engagement bait feminists on tiktok.

Literally every conversation women have about men with you is like that. Most conversations with most reasonable women are not like that.

Have you tried being 6ft with a salary over 6 figures? Also you should be so handsome that other girls actively hit on you while you’re with your girlfriend. Also you should have an above average penis — but put her needs before your own. And you should also get along with her family. OH and you should be culturally similar too. Also you should be politically compatible too. Uhhhh what else…. Annnnnndd just do that for the rest of your life ezpz.

Was I wrong that having those characteristics would make things easier? It’s not a mandatory— I’m not 6ft nor do I make (any) money and I still have a gf.

No relationship is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, regardless of how great you think your partner is or your partner thinks you are. There will always be flaws or some kind of thing that you may find annoying. Usually, the point of a relationship is to be able to work around it, or to adapt, or if necessary, to even change. In this case, I really do hope whoever the boyfriend is lives in complete ignorance of this. As someone who has autism and was diagnosed with it, well, I notice some of the signs here, although it would be too much to presume, I would suppose. Also, when it comes to an artist, you can tell how they see people based on how they depict them. And depicting the man as essentially being chud, despite the fact that the comic does say that he's not exactly a harmful or malicious person, is very unflattering indeed, to put it nicely. And she practically admits that she's only with him because she feels like she doesn't have much other choice. Now, hear this, ladies. If you ever wonder why men have some kind of horrible aversion to the idea of being considered the settling option. Read through the comic. It may not be entirely true, and you can have the best of intentions and mean well, but that's what most guys think settling means. It means you're in a position where you don't have many choices and you're looking for a meal ticket or something like that. I know that's not always the case, but even the more positive men can be very pessimistic or have a low opinion of themselves. And honestly, this whole situation is just kind of sad. At the end of the day, if a relationship isn't working for you, and you don't want to work or communicate or anything, you should probably just give it up. Hopefully, both of them will find whatever it is they're looking for. It's easy to wish malice, but I will wish for the best.

Honestly disgusting, the feeling itself is somewhat understandable, but this is something you discuss with close friends, not make a comic about it for everyone to read. I hope he leaves her.

Why the fuck do people make this shit and post it and think they don’t look evil and insane?

One of my buddies is perpetually trapped by a girl like this. Not enough to completely take him out of the game, but whenever shes around, she commands all his attention. Shes invited him over to complain about her current bf(whose shes dated for like 5 years) multiple times. I legit asked him if he would bang her even tho she has a bf, he says no. I get boys and girls can be friends, but anyone with any sense can see they either like eachother, or she just likes the attention. Hes wasted so many nights cowtowing to this girl, either bang her, ask her to dump her bf, or talk to girls who are single.
•
u/SuaveGorilla 20m ago
Has it been confirmed this is a self representation? Has the artist spoken on it?

I hate the comic because I feel like I’m the boyfriend (or, well, the friend)—like, in my actual life.
I’m not good at talking to people; sometimes I go on and on about my interests because that’s one of the few things I "know well," and it gives me the confidence to speak clearly. I don't know what to ask without feeling like I’m "crossing a line," so I stick to generic questions, and sometimes it looks like I don't care what the other person is saying. But I actually do care, and I try in every unforced way possible to actually connect with someone.
So seeing a comic where, in theory, my fear that a person I love, trust, and adore secretly hates me and is only spending time with me because "there's no better option available, you're a place holder," hits really hard.
I already feel like everyone hates my existence, but no one is brave enough to actually kick me out of the friend groups I’m in.
And the fact that this comic exists makes me feel like, yeah, I really am the burden I thought I was; I am a problem; everyone does hate me.
It caught me off guard, and now I have to rebuild what got destroyed.

That sub is kinda wild. A lot of hate and unfunny statement politics. Thanks to all the creators on there that make good stuff! There's a few creaters that all there posts are is hating things and idk how people can make that stuff every day. It's kinda depressing.

I got perma banned from it sometime last year for essentially agreeing with the top comment, which was basically "hey maybe we shouldn't be racist". It was essentially a comic about someone who had experienced racism, but the way they expressed their anger and frustration towards the perpetrators was....well, racist. The top comment had thousands of upvotes, and tons of people agreeing.... because "let's not fight racism with more racism" is a reasonable stance, I think.
Mods swooped in, nuked the entire comment chain, and slapped me and presumably everyone else in it with a permaban.
I messaged the mods and asked why I got banned, they said "We don't tolerate racists. Message me again and you'll be muted.", or something like that.
Needless to say I view that subreddit and it's comment section differently now, and it's no wonder why so many posts are filled with exclusively praise and positive comments.
That and I recently noticed that the main(?) mod over there comments obsessively on everyone's posts to the point that it gives sycophantic Twitter mod vibes.
It's kinda gross.

I think people are missing the point, it’s a really realistic portrayal of the internal struggles people with anxiety, self esteem issues and depression have in their relationships.
•
u/hadiwrittenit 1h ago
Agreed, I am confused that people think it's hate towards him when she specifically calls herself worthless/bad/unliveable
•
u/Working-Cabinet4849 1h ago
I think the main problem is that she draws him as a chud, and the "I lub my girlfriend" panel at the end, both were incredibly unnecessary, but it frames him as incredibly 'inferior'
•
u/hadiwrittenit 1h ago
Yeah, I really felt sad for both of them - and I did find that exact line very off-putting
•
u/AlabasterWitch 1h ago
You can obviously tell that this is a learned behavior too, she feels guilty that one of her needs isn’t being met and that it’s her fault for wanting that need met. I’ve been in this exact spiral, I love my boyfriend to death - but this still happens because of anxiety, and the self-immolation she runs into is very realistic.
Girl needs therapy, and to communicate but because she feels she doesn’t deserve any form of it she’s not in a good headspace to consider it

I was kinda shocked reading it, its literally an autistic hate comic disguised as some self pitying bs
