And if American a tip exemption, honestly everyone should be tip exempt and employees demand better pay because the promise of a tip is an excuse managers use to not pay liveable wages.
By making employees rely on tips, restaurants in the US have successfully gotten their customers to pay their staff instead of them, allowing them to keep a larger share of their profits that would normally be used on wages. In any other industry there would be a collective uproar. Imagine if Walmart or Best Buy underpaid their employees and had the customers pay them "tips" instead of a real wage.
