Imagine going to a house party with the worst playlist you can think of. Like imagine you just arrive and everyone's kinda just settling down and catching up and then dancing queen starts blasting. You aren't gonna get up and dance right away, right?

You need something to ease you in and kinda get you in the mood before you go for the heavy hitters.

And once the energy is up you're gonna get tired at some point, you'll wanna ease down, have a drink, catch your breath a bit.

If you can imagine how a shitty playlist can ruin the vibe then you can imagine how a good playlist can improve it, and a DJ at the simplest level is supposed to provide that.

And then yeah on the festival edm whatever scene there's like clout and light shows and shit.

Is nobody else fascinated by what's actually happening on the other side of the world?

They have some sort of outdoor space (dirt) with an elaborate tent with lighting pendants/chandeliers above.

Everybody is holding hands (and they never leg go) in what looks like concentric circles, but nobody is really dressed up, and they look like they just left school. They're all trying to jam hard, but are restrained by the handholding.

It seems designed to keep everyone very PG, but you have naughty-eyes doing some sort of twerk on stage.

It's just a very interesting scene. I'd be curious to know more about the etiquette/culture of this.

Well I wouldn’t have a problem with all the boys on keyboards in music class if they could actually do something like this.

Not like a random drum splash a few times, then a pre-programmed calypso track, to hearing chords arpeggiated before finally changing to the bass trombone sound where they’re trying to hit the brown note 😂

I can’t remember the key/button combo but the whole class knows how to ba dum tss for when one of my jokes hits. It hasn’t happened yet, but it’s “sweet” they “practise” it in case!
